The researched issue is the impact of infection caused by a new type of coronavirus in the environment of a day care centre. The importance of the issue is given by the fact that the topic directly concerns the lives of all actors connected with the environment off ering social services. The purpose was to use the stories obtained from the helpers in order to look at the subjective picture which shows the current situation of the actors. With the onset of the pandemic and the introduction of anti-pandemic measures, they are coming into a specifi c situation and are facing (up to now) an unknown challenge. The aim of this paper was to use qualitative research tools in order to capture the authentic statements of respondents in a particular environment and try to avoid purposeful interpretations to which the topic may lead. In addition to the description of the stories of the respondents, the study also presents seven key topics arising after data collection and subsequent coding. The argumentation depends on the attitude of the interviewed respondents. The conclusions of the qualitative study off er a starting point for understanding the current serious situation, give the opportunity to understand the phenomenon in a more comprehensive form of authentic statements, and can be used for research into possible impacts of coronavirus crisis on actors in day care centres.

The text deals with the experience of Czech hospital chaplains in 2020. Specifi cally, it concerns the period during the spring and autumn waves of the pandemic caused by the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus which leads to a viral disease known as covid-19. The article builds on data obtained through an online questionnaire and subsequent ten interviews with hospital chaplains. The results of the research are presented in four thematic blocks: chaplain and institutions, chaplain and staff , chaplain and patient, and the chaplain himself. Based on a qualitative analysis of the data, we conclude that the pandemic aff ected the self-concept of many chaplains. It mainly depended on their eff ectiveness, that is, the possibility of applying their skills, in the hospital during the pandemic. In many cases, the pandemic crisis has accelerated the development of relations with the institution and staff , for better or worse. The position of the chaplain in the hospital before the outbreak of the pandemic proved to be crucial. The work with patients themselves did not usually undergo a fundamental change; the chaplains often functioned here as a substitute for forbidden visits. At the end of the article, we present some practical recommendations resulting from our data.

The article is dedicated to the phenomenon of Godforsakenness viewed from philosophical and theological perspectives. The article presents the conception of the experience of Godforsakenness as a key element in fi nding spiritual reconciliation. Attention is focused on the fact that belief is impossible without (the despair of ) Godforsakenness, the collapse of meaning, and the cry to God for help. Having compared the thoughts of A. Camus and С. S. Lewis, we will argue that the suff ering of a human being appears in the centre of comprehension for both. The combination of critical positions of Albert Camus and С. S. Lewis provides the ground for asserting that both theology and philosophy, when it comes to the experience of Godforsakenness, mean the same thing but conceptualise it diff erently. Refl ections pivot around the fact that every person is constantly in search of God, and that most often this path is a sinuous curve: from unbelief to belief, etc. We call these transitions within the state of Godforsakenness the experience of being ‘without God’. Awareness of this makes it possible to regard atheism not only as a secular phenomenon but also as a theological problem that signals a disturbed balance in the faith in its quest for the living God, rather than for attractive theological formulas.

Abstrakt: Text se zamýšlí nad soudobou přetechnizovanou společností a naznačuje jednu z možných cest oslabení nadvlády techniky nad bytím, a to návratem k tištěnému slovu a kritickému myšlení.

The text refl ects on the contemporary overly-technological society and suggests one of the possible ways to weaken the domination of technology over being, namely by returning to the printed word and critical thinking. It describes the current state of school literary education. The aim of the paper is to point out the specifi cs of literary education in free time and the possibilities of its use as its potential is not currently fully exploited. Literary education in free time can intensively focus primarily on the development of reading, functionally complement school literary education, and thus contribute to the comprehensive development of personality. At the same time, it can be understood as one of the ways of lifelong learning.
