This paper examines the relationship between commercial banks' characteristics and economic growth in Vietnam using the FEM and REM models to test the effect of commercial bank characteristics on economic growth in Vietnam. Using a panel dataset of 28 commercial banks from 2010 to 2021, we investigate the impact of bank characteristics on economic growth and provide some important findings. Our findings show that bank characteristics significantly affect economic growth. These results suggest that policymakers should focus on controlling banks’ activities to support economic growth in Vietnam. Overall, this study contributes to the existing literature on the role of commercial banks in promoting economic growth in developing countries like Vietnam.

Commercial forestry sector in India is largely state owned. Madhya Pradesh is a unique state in India in the sense that two different forms of the organizations are working for timber and non-timber production in the state. It’s notable that Government of India has endorsed this model of doing commercial forestry and advised all the states in the country to adapt this model. It becomes important then to review the business model of the state’s forest resources especially the non-nationalized forest produce which is open for private sector. Unlike leading India based business entities like Patanjali, Dabur and Himalaya, the income generated through the network of the MP Minor Forest Produce (MFP) federation (which is government supported entity) is majorly distributing the profits among the collectors of the herbal produce. The thriving of this federation network is essential for the sake of livelihood, conservation and public health. These outcomes are relevant in the context of achieving the sustainable development goals. An independent consultant Mr. Darpan Kumar (pseudonym) analyses the business choices available in the industry and the state of strategic direction of the federation. The study presents the product/business diversification dilemma.

Data has demonstrated that affluent suburban whites are returning to inner cities, which low-income minorities have occupied for decades. This return is increasing investment and development by small and large businesses seeking to meet the needs of this new demographic. The data has also demonstrated the conflict that these businesses are experiencing from long-time residents, community leaders, and activists. This article will give leaders a strategic approach to addressing conflict before, during, and after the gentrification process. This article will discuss the theory of strategic foresight and its importance to leaders confronting gentrification. The article will demonstrate strategic foresight’s advantages to leaders and their organizations and how predictive and adaptive leaders can better embrace the future and changes. Strategic foresight assists leaders in embracing change and contemplating the effects of developing trends so they are well-prepared for market shifts, threats, and opportunities . While research has demonstrated the adverse effects accompanying gentrification, strategic foresight can assist leaders in discovering the opportunities these shifts can bring and how to gain the support and acceptance of others effectively.

It is important to identify and assess factors related to corporate governance which affect the financial statements quality of listed companies on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX). The results of this study show that these factors including the independence of Board of Directors (BOD), BOD ownership, and auditing firm quality and size of company have impacts the financial reporting quality of firms on the HNX. In addition, we find that the size and leverage of the company can serve as a basis for improving the quality of financial statements in the future. Our study provides some important implications for firms to enhance financial reporting quality in Vietnam.

This paper proposes an innovative method for factor analyzing data that potentially contains individual response bias. Past methods include the use of “ipsative” data, or, related to that, “ipsatized” data. Unfortunately, factor analysis as the main method used for analyzing the dimensionality of data, cannot be applied to ipsative data. In contrast, normalization of data as an alternative method to filter out response bias, is not hampered by the technical statistical issues inherent to applying multivariate techniques to ipsative data. Using high-quality data from a survey in Nepal that makes use of – among others – the High-Performance Organizations (HPO) framework, this paper shows that the traditional approach of directly applying Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) starting from an existing model or theory, is inferior to our approach. Even applying Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to the raw (non-normalized) data before using CFA, is unable to detect the optimal dimensionality, or structure, in the data. A better structure can be obtained by performing EFA on normalized data that corrects for response bias in the raw data. This paper convincingly shows that the newly identified structure is superior to the original structure suggested by the HPO framework. Applying a CFA using the newly detected structure on the raw data, gives excellent goodness-of-fit statistics, with more items retained, and no need of forced methods to improve the model fit. The findings suggest that existing models and questionnaires based on these models, are not necessarily as valid and reliable as empirical studies that make use of traditional analyses seem to suggest. When adopting existing instruments, researchers are advised to critically check the validity and reliability of these instruments – especially those vulnerable to response bias - and to apply the procedures laid out in this paper, in order to enhance the quality of their research, and to inform future researchers who consider using the same instruments or to warn them about the potential shortcomings of these instruments.

The need to manage machine maintenance effectively has gained more importance due to the high rate of changing operational technologies, changing market demands, increased emphasis on employee safety, and new environmental legislation. To demonstrate the purpose of maintenance in the manufacturing value chain, the study sought to investigate the relationship between machine maintenance type and quality of output as well as to establish whether machine maintenance contributes to quality of output among Ghanaian manufacturing firms. Data was collected from 150 manufacturing firms in Tema and Accra Metropolis by using questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS and SmartPLS software. The findings showed significantly direct relationship between all the maintenance types, except corrective maintenance, and quality of output. Therefore, if a company minimizes breakdown maintenance, quality defects are also minimized. Hence, adopting preventive maintenance help reduce cost of repairs and unplanned stoppages in the production process.

This paper provides a conceptual overview of what a post-pandemic ecosystem for MSME financing might be, and how policymakers might apply it. Current COVID-19 emergency measures are not sustainable, and fintech and other technologies offer improvements for access to MSME finance worldwide. We offer a macro-perspective of how MSME financing might balance the competing interests of various stakeholders via the lens of ikigai. The Japanese term for fulfilment, and how fintech provides the “digital unlock” that has been missing to this point. We derive practical suggestions for policymakers from our theoretical framework, using real-world examples to transition from the abstract to the concrete.
