The objective of this research was to find out the result of the pronunciation skills of students in Junior High School before and after being given treatment using the tongue twister technique through the Twistify application. The populations in this research were students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tayu, Pati, Central Java, Indonesia. The sample consisted of 34 students from class VIII B. The researcher used pre-experimental and implemented one group pre-test and post-test design. Based on the results, there was an increase in students’ pronunciation skills from the pre-test with a mean score of 58.35 to the post-test with a mean score of 80 and an increase from the pre-test to the post-test by 37.10%. From the data calculation, the researcher found that the t-test result was 46.442, and the value of df (degree of freedom) was 33. The t-table value was obtained from df = 33 so that t-table = 2.035, so (t0 > tt), 46.442 > 2.035. The Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Thus, there was a significant difference between students’ pronunciation skills before and after being given treatment using the tongue twister technique through the Twistify application.

Analysis of Idiomatic Expressions in the Movie "The Call of the Wild." The purpose of this research is to identify the different idiomatic that were used in the movie “The Call of the Wild” and to decipher their true meanings. Researchers employed the theory of McCarty and O'Dell and an idiom dictionary to address the set research topics. This study employs qualitative descriptive research techniques. Data analysis was done by reducing and displaying information to conclude. The study's conclusions are as follows: the six kinds of McCarty and O'Dell idiomatic idioms were discovered in the movie The Call of the Wild. The six categories of terms are similes idiom (7%), binomials idiom (5%), proverbs idiom (16%), euphemisms idiom (22%), cliches idiom (17%), and fixed statement idiom (33%). The most common form of idiomatic expression is a Fixed Statement idiom, the dominating idiom. On the other hand, binomial idioms are the style of idiomatic expression that The Call of the Wild uses the least. The implied meaning of idiomatic can be deduced from the context of the statement in the movie. Idioms cannot be understood in just one word or phrase, so they must be understood in one sentence or paragraph to understand the meaning of the original context.

This study aims to find the discriminatory actions in the 200 Pounds Beauty Movie. 200 Pounds Beauty is a 2006 film. This film tells the story of a fat woman named Hanna who wants to become a famous singer. However, because of her plump body, Hanna receives discriminatory treatment from other characters. Discrimination is the unfair treatment of a person or group of people who have differences in race, ethnicity, gender, and others. Therefore, the authors chose the film 200 Pounds Beauty to analyze the discriminatory treatment received by Hanna’s character. To be able to conduct research, the author uses a structural approach method. Then, the researchers collect data using the library research method and present the data collected in a sentence and pictures. From the research that has been done on the film 200 Pounds Beauty, it can be said that many of the acts of discrimination are accepted by Hanna’s character. Each discrimination that has been carried out has a different effect. The authors suggest that future researchers analyze discrimination more deeply.

Death is inevitable, inapprehensible, yet it is the most trustworthy experience by human. People have their own various ways to encounter deaths, some by witnessing the death of others, some by reading fictional stories. Death and literature has close relationship as the literary genres portray deaths in various perspectives, such as death is praised in Classics, death is tragic in Romantics, and death is a part of life in postmodern literature. However, the attitude of people towards death and grief are vary. This research aims at finding the stages of grief (death and dying) using Kübler-Ross theory in C. G. Lewis novel A Grief Observed (1961). This research is qualitative using content analysis approach. The data were gathered through words, phrases, and sentences contained in the novel. The findings shows that the main charater, Lewis, finally succeed managing the whole five stages such as denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Moreover, with his acceptance of the death of his wife, he can capture the world in more meaningful ways and find peace in his heart. This is also strengthen that literature can be a media for consolation from suffering since this novel is based on true life story by the author himself.

Language is a system of spoken, manual (signed), or written symbols in which human beings express themselves as members of a social group and participants in its culture. The audio-lingual teaching method is defined as a method that emphasizes on repetition of words to help the students to understand the use of the target language communicatively. The objective of this thesis is to measure the students’ accomplishment in increasing their English vocabulary after using the audio-lingual method and to find the benefits of using the audio-lingual method in increasing the vocabulary for students. In finishing this research, the method used is class action research by applying mixed methods. The population of this research was students in 3A Generous of SD Shalom Semarang, which consist of 25 students. The writer used the theory of Larsen-Freeman in this research. The instrument of the research were multiple-choice tests of 15 items and short essay tests of 5 items. In finding, the score of the post-test (84,6%) is higher than the score of the pre-test (75,8%). It means that using the audio-lingual method in teaching English vocabulary gives enough effect on the third-grade students’ accomplishments.

ABSTRACT Teaching listening and speaking can be done by listening to audio, then assigning students to retell English. The author believes that listening teaching methods can be combined with speaking or other basic skills. This research reveals the application of listening and speaking teaching using the Integrated Learning method at the Faculty of Language and Culture, Semarang University, on August 17, 1945, and the obstacles faced in its application. The aim is to implement the integration of this method effectively, and in the future, it can be a reference for curriculum renewal according to the community's wishes. This research uses a research and development (R&D) design. Researchers collected data using listening tests and recordings of students' English speaking while listening to materials or tests. After that, the researcher conducted interviews with students as input for the application of this integration. The recordings were then transcribed and analyzed using a qualitative description. From the discussion, most of the students agreed with the application of integration, but a small number disagreed. From the experiment, the method of teaching the listening test combined with the English/speaking assignment in the first semester can be integrated or blended. The result will be that students' speaking abilities will be better and more effective because only 3 out of 20 students will answer only a few sentences that do not represent the content of the test. Two students answered in Bahasa Indonesia. Most of the others responded well.

The purpose of this study is to compare two stories with the same concept, namely stories about 1-inch humans from two different cultures, namely from British culture represented by the story of Tom Thumb and from Japanese culture represented by the story of Issun Boshi. This study uses a Comparative Literature approach that focuses on Zepetnek's theory of comparisons of literary works with different languages or cultures. Qualitative descriptive is used for the method in this study with a research design that is looking for similarities, differences, and the values contained in the two stories. The results obtained from this study are similarities such as 1. the main character's body size is 1 inch, 2. the origin of the main character's birth comes from prayer, 3. the main character's profession which is a knight, 4. setting of place at the beginning and the end of the story, 5. and the enemy of the main character who is a giant. In addition, differences were found, namely 1. differences in the nature of the main character, and 2. the ending of the story. The differences in the two stories are due to differences in family values. The family value found in Issun Boshi's is responsibilities, while the family value found in Tom Thumb's is self-reliance.
