for home and host culture and will support the acculturation processes which finally help increase the welfare level for both refugees and host society. The results of those studies could be also beneficial for developing different guidelines for adjusting local and national policy to protect refugees’ health, welfare and keep them safe at the labor market; socioeconomic policies for health, local and national economy; access to material resources; Abstract: Worldwide, the issue of refugeeism is getting increased interest of researchers. Despite the fact that in Poland a relatively small group of foreigners receive international protection, the scope of the research conducted by the representatives of social sciences (including educationalists) is expanding. The analysis of the literature shows that there is still a lack of studies on refugees’ resources. The article is a review of research directions carried out in various countries that relate to the resilience of refugees in the context of the resilience mechanism, and aims to signal pathways for designing research initiatives as well as educational activities supporting the process of integrating people and adversities. On the basis of the analyzed research results, it can be concluded that strengthening the resources such as: gender, religion, culture and relations with members of the same national group as well as the host society supports the process of integration of forced migrants and the psychological well-being of both refugees and the host society.

: The article focuses on the category of multiculturalism inscribed in the cultural heritage of the city, which is a contribution to the educational practice realized within the framework of regional and intercultural education. The multicultural traditions of the city as a subject of educational activities are presented in this text as an attempt to reconcile the internal and external dialogue of identity, the possibility of meeting both the Other and oneself. These ideas are exemplified here by an educational project realized in Lublin and associated with an intercultural fairy tale „O Unijanku – dzielnym chłopcu, który Rzeczpospolitej poznawał kultury”. The fairy tale was created on the oc-casion of the 450 th anniversary of the Union of Lublin, which gave birth to the multiethnic, confessional and nationally tolerant Polish-Lithuanian Common-378

curricula Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the current core curriculum for kindergartens and early childhood education in the context of cultural diversity. Knowing your own local environment and the cultural canon of the region is an important element of intercultural education. The basis for the analyses of the core curricula are the assumptions of both regional and intercultural education. Tasks and goals, defined in the core curriculum, are presented to be achieved by modern kindergartens and schools. The learning outcomes that determine the content planned in the learning and teaching process were also analyzed. The theoretical basis for the considerations is the concept of intercultural identity by Jerzy

: The attractiveness and topicality of the research into family life are related to dynamic sociocultural, economic and political transformations which take place globally. For the functioning of family and its members, the current pandemic situation is also of due significance as it has had a substantial impact on the structure of family as well as the needs and values of its members. The topicality of this issue prompts reflection upon the condition of modern family and induces the need for finding out the effects of outer influences on its shape and its inner environment. In the presented study, a discussion is undertaken on the problems of family, with special focus on mixed marriages, which have been increasingly visible not only in marriage statistics but, first of all, in social life. Entering mixed marriages can be justified by bigger social mobility and the elimination of the barriers in in-terpersonal communication (common use of modern technologies in professional and personal life), or may also result from the individual needs and preferences of people entering such marriages. Mixed marriage itself can be a value, yet – being in such a relationship might constitute a certain burden. The presented study is an attempt to capture certain tendencies occurring in the experiencing of social life by mixed marriages. The article consists of three parts, in which subsequently the issues of family life and the functioning of mixed marriages are introduced, then the data and materials are analysed and certain tendencies are distinguished in reference to various aspects of family and social life. The study is completed with a recapitulation and the indication of some conclusions.

: In Germany, the poor performance of German pupils in the PISA study compared to their peers in other countries became a source of an intense dis-cussion that is strongly fueled in the media. Public space has become a type of platform for the exchange of information on the condition of German education as well as on the ongoing changes. The aim of the article is to present the main topics addressed by the German press in the first decade (2001–2010) after the publication of PISA results. A method of Critical Discourse Analysis was used in the research process, which made it possible to draw a conclusion that, on the one hand, educational problems highlighted by the media reflect society’s interest in education, and on the other hand, they may lead to an in-depth scrutiny of the emphasised phenomena, as well as of decisions to take specific, initiatives at the grassroots level (theory of utility and benefit, theory of opposite decoding). Press articles from national newspapers and magazines from selected federal states (de-pending on high or low achievements of their pupils) were analyzed, taking into account different political options.

: The text refers to contemporary research about children from diverse cultural backgrounds in Polish educational institutions. I reflect on the need to decolonise this research and to sensitise scholars to the ethics of research “about” and “with” children. I argue that this should be oriented towards participation and the right to be properly researched, as postulated by J. Ennew. Ethics is crucial in the search for non-discriminatory research strategies (also in the area of affirma-tive action) due to the dominating research “about” children rather than “with” children or from the perspective of children. I reflect on research practices with children from diverse cultural backgrounds in Polish schools and preschools. I also draw attention to the ethical need to verify research about this group of children in the light of protecting their rights in a new country, language, education system and new culture. The absence of children’s voices and the prevalence of narrations about them as well as the lack of participatory research with this group of children preclude a deeper insight into their situation and ways of looking at the world. With this article I aim at making children’s voices heard.
