Violation of protein folding leads to the development of a number of systemic and neurodegenerative diseases-proteinopathy. In these pathologies, proteins acquire an incorrect conformation that differs from the native one, become functionally inactive, toxic, and prone to aggregation and deposition in various organs and tissues. There is a widespread hypothesis that the primary cytotoxic agents in the development of proteinopathies are protein oligomers that are prone to aggregation. These diseases include Parkinson’s disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, type 2 diabetes, and many others.

The accumulation of secondary radionuclides (PRN) in water [18O]H2O under irradiation on a Cyclone 18/9 HC cyclotron with a niobium target and an entrance window made of Havar alloy was studied. It is shown that the activity of PRN is mainly determined by the accumulated dose of the target. The dominant source of PRN is the entrance window made of Havar alloy. The niobium target is the source of only one radionuclide, 92mNb, whose activity is low. In the process of water activation, radioisotopes 7Be and probably 65Zn are formed. The water [18O] H2O irradiated on the cyclotron is a dispersed system. Up to 30 % of the activity of cobalt and manganese, as well as ~7% of chromium, are in the composition of solid particles >5 microns in size, washed out of the input foil of the cyclotron target due to intergranular corrosion.

The circulating microRNAs (let-7e and miR-140) expression levels were studied in the plasma of peripheral blood and synovial fluid of patients with gonarthrosis and coxarthrosis. There was a statistically significant decrease in the expression of miR-140 in synovial fluid and let-7e in the peripheral blood of patients with osteoarthritis (p <0.05). MicroRNA let-7e characterizes comorbidity and indicates the development of metabolic syndrome. It was established a correlation between the microRNAs expression levels and the disease severity.

Evaluation of various proteolytic enzymes efficiency for disaggregation of lung tissue is carried out and an optimized method for alveolar epithelial cells isolation is presented. This method includes mechanical disaggregation of tissue followed by processing of explanations with 0.25% trypsin solution in combination with filtration of the cell suspension through pores with a diameter of 100 gm and 50 gm. The obtained cell cultures were characterized by high viability (more than 91%) and morphological heterogeneity. Along with actively dividing rounded cells, differentiated alveolar epithelial cells with cuboid or polygonal morphology, characterized by high secretory activity, were visualized.

This article shows methods for the preparation of 8-bromoadenosine which is an important intermediate in the syntheses of analogs of purines nucleosides and nucleotides with a broad spectrum of biological activity. The influence of the pH values of the medium on the yield of 8-bromoadenosine was studied. It was showed that pH 4.3 is optimal for the preparation of 8-bromoadenosine by reaction of adenosine with a solution of bromine in water.

The study of macro-and microelements in the blood and hair was carried out in 91 patients with ischemic stroke and 24 practically healthy persons, the results of which were taken as normal. It was found that in the blood of patients with ischemic stroke, the concentrations of magnesium, iron, copper, lithium, and aluminum are reduced, and a decrease in the levels of calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and zinc in the hair was revealed. It has been shown that calcium, magnesium, zinc, and iron in hair have high diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and efficiency (more than 60%) in ischemic stroke and they can be used as additional informative chemical markers of this pathology.

In order to provide high-quality radiation therapy at the National Cancer Center of Belarus, a group of medical physicists developed the first local protocol in Belarus for radiotherapy treatment planning of head and neck tumors patients. The protocol contains grounded practice-oriented recommendations based on the long-term clinical experience of qualified medical physicists in treating patients with head and neck tumors for irradiation using modern linear accelerators.

Improvement of iodine status of schoolchildren aged 9-12 years in Belarus (iodine excretion median in 2018 was equal to 191,3 f-ig/l) for the last decade resulted in significant decrease of diffuse goiter incidence except Gomel region, where trend to increase was recorded. At the same time autoimmune thyroiditis incidence demonstrated significant growth in Brest and Grodno regions by 1,5 and 1,7 fold correspondingly. No significant changes were recorded in other regions. Significant negative correlation (Pirson correlation rate -0.550) was recorded between AIT incidence and iodine status of population by the regions and totally in the country.
