This paper deals with the experimental validations performed on a large frequency range (100 MHz – 3 GHz) of a method called “equivalent cable bundle method”. This method creates a “reduced” cable bundle containing a limited number of conductors - each of them called “equivalent conductor” - from a multiconductor cable bundle. The main purpose of the method is to use those reduced cable bundle models in larger 3D models for “high frequency” EM immunity coupling assessment in automotive EMC modeling.

Electro-magnetic fields resulting from a GSM transmitter mounted on a large wind turbine will be analyzed. This cellular system operates as novel communication backup in case the standard communication between operator and hub control systems is interrupted. The method-of-moments is used to analytically describe the electro-magnetic fields caused by a GSM 900 MHz transmitter mounted on the hub of a wind turbine. Using a commercial simulation tool the electromagnetic field distribution will be analyzed to determine an optimized wireless communication link to a base station. Different transmitter positions are evaluated based on their radiation patterns. Scattering and diffraction by the turbine’s rotation is taken into account.

The paper analyses the electrical behaviour of real dipole working inside a resonant chamber. In particular, the chamber loading effects on the dipole input impedance and current distribution are investigated by setting a proper EFIE solved applying the MoM . Moreover, a preliminary statistical analysis is accomplished sampling the field when the dipole moves along a trajectory inside the chamber.

In this paper enhancements of parametric behavioral models for the output buffers of digital ICs are explored. A model based on a single-piece structure, which offers improved accuracy in describing state transition events for arbitrary load conditions, is proposed. This model exploits the potentiality of local-linear state-space parametric relations. These relations can be effectively estimated from input-output port responses only, and provide better stability properties and improved efficiency.

The paper aims to present the situation in the regulated field of EMC in Romania, country that lately has made important steps to get close to the actual requirements linked to product quality assurance both for the products intended for the Romanian market and for the exported ones. Due to the transcription in the Romanian legislation of the European Directives and of their application guides, to the translation/endorsement of the main harmonized EMC and Safety standards as well as to the setting up of accredited laboratories and of a market surveillance structure at present in Romania there is the infrastructure and the skilled people necessary to solve the actual requirements. In this way, the free movement of goods and market surveillance are ensured in Romania and to this effect the main operators in EMC field acting on the Romanian market are presented.

Grounding basic function as the earth termination of the lightning protection systems is to effectively disperse the lightning current to earth without causing any danger to people or damage to installations. However, due to the inductive phenomena, the grounding performance might be much worse at high frequencies in comparison to low frequencies, which might deteriorate the efficiency of the protection during fast front lightning current pulses. This paper provides simple empirical formula for a first approximation of the impulse efficiency of some common arrangements of vertical and horizontal ground electrodes for typical lightning current waveforms. The effects of the soil ionization are disregarded; therefore, the new formula leads to a conservative estimate of the upper bound of the impulse impedance.

This paper introduces complete simulation models of typical electromagnetic immunity tests for integrated circuits (ICs). Direct Power Injection (DPI), Near-field (NF) and Very- Fast Transmission Line Pulsing (VF-TLP) experiments are modeled accurately, and comparisons between simulations and measurements for each set-up demonstrate the validity of this approach and lead to the development of an immunity prediction method for ICs.

A methodology for the evaluation of the total power radiated by a wire in a Reverberation Chamber is proposed. The cavity Green’s function and a probabilistic model for the quality factor are used in order to avoid the simulation of the set cavity/stirrer. The numerical evaluation of the current is carried out starting from a method of moments. Then a stochastic collocation method is proposed for the evaluation of the radiated power average. Results are finally compared to Monte-Carlo simulations.

This paper introduces a new perception in the analysis of distribution functions of a rectangular component of the electric field (ER) and the power received (P) in an overmoded reverberation chamber (RC). High power goodness of fit (GOF) tests modify the determination of the lowest frequency from which the ideal underlying theoretical distributions can be associated with measurements. For the electric field, a Weibull distribution is proposed to model ER in an overmoded RC, instead of the Rayleigh distribution hypothesis which is rejected by statistical tests. Furthermore, Weibull distribution provides better agreement with standard deviation of samples. An additional experiment with a monopole-like antenna shows that the exponential distribution is not rejected if the antenna length is over λ/4. Experimental results are provided by a large number of GOF tests.
