This work presents an oil removal system design based on the use of hydrophobic silica (SiO2/PDMS) obtained by the co-condensation of silica with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) using DBTL as a polycondensation catalyst. The amount of PDMS in the SiO2/PDMS structure varied from 10 to 40%w. The SiO2/PDMS was impregnated into a sponge system and the amount of hydrophobic silica trapped in the sponge was evaluated by gravimetry; in addition, infrared spectroscopy will allow the identification of the hydrophobic silica in the sponge and the main functional groups of the sponge. The hydrophobic character was determined by changing the water absorption capacity of the sponge and by measuring the contact angle. On the other hand, optical microscopy allowed the identification of changes in the sponge surface due to the presence of SiO2/PDMS. Finally, the effect of the amount of PDMS on the oil-in-water removal capacity was determined.

The AISI 316L steel is a material used to manufacture prostheses and medical instruments due to its high corrosion resistance. However, its wear resistance is low, but it can be improved by synthesizing thin films of titanium nitride (TiN) on the surface. This compound is a hard material that improves its tribological and corrosive properties, in addition to presenting good adhesion to the substrate. In this work, a Ti/TiN thin film was obtained using the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technique. This coating was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersion spectroscopy (EDS), and light microscopy; additionally, tribological tests under wet conditions and adhesion tests were conducted. The coating showed good adhesion to the substrate according to the VDI standard. In tribological tests, a low coefficient of friction vs. a polyethylene pin in a wet environment (bovine serum) was obtained. The EDS showed a high concentration of Ti and N on the substrate even after wear tests.

This project focuses on the principles of Arduino UNO, which is an open-source electronic platform that helps build a wide variety of projects without having expert programming knowledge. It is known that medicine, treatments and medications in general are constantly evolving thanks to the advancement of technology and science; therefore, this project has focused on that area through the construction of a medical dispenser that can contribute to the experience of the employees and the user. Each user will have an identification document with their predefined treatments and medications so that they can personally purchase all these products by simply placing their card near the dispenser, it will read the information and return the product. In short, having an Arduino as the brain of this project can facilitate any day-to-day task and help create devices that can regulate any dispensing process, reduce costs, and help people get their product without waiting too many hours in a hospital, primary reason for the construction of this project.

It is unquestionable that during the last decades the use of ICT has increased in the education field, this driven by the dictated policies through organizations such as UNESCO, that promote the importance of innovating the teaching process, improve learning, to democratize education and for students to acquire the skills that the actual and future workforce will demand from them; Nevertheless the health contingency caused by COVID-19 that forced schools to transition from in person instruction and a hybrid to an online model, it demonstrated several shortages and problems. For example, the lack of technological equipment, the limited connectivity to the internet, the training of faculty for the design and administration of virtual classrooms. With that said, the following article covers the design of pedagogical technology and staff formation, as central elements that allow the interests of an institution that decides to incorporate the use of technology to the education process and the results it obtains; Therefore, so looking for the vivid experience during the last two years, let it be the starting point to take advantage of a better manner the implicit potential that technology has to optimize the educational process.

: The purpose of this study is to examine how online reviews from other users in a tourism service website generate emotions and cognitions that contribute to the formation of the image of a tourism service. We used a real website of a rural destination as a tourism service. We tested the proposed conceptual model using structural equation modeling. Our results show a correspondence between consumers’ thoughts and the cognitive dimension of image, as well as between the emotions expressed by subjects and the affective dimension of image. Results confirm that the image of a tourism service is an important predictor of tourism service preferences. This overall image influences consumers’ future intentions, not only to buy the service but also to recommend it to other consumers. In summary, we propose and test a model that shows how online reviews significantly influence image formation and subsequent consumer behaviors. To date, little is known about to what extent online reviews are useful to generate cognitive and emotional responses in potential tourists. Consequently, understanding its role in a tourist’s decision making process, and assessing the relationships between utility of online reviews, emotions, cognitions and image towards the tourism service will make both scientific and practical contributions. While contributing to the body of knowledge on image formation process, our results are also relevant for public administrations and tourism marketing managers.

: Disability has been described by many perspectives, including medical, administrative, economic, and socio-political. Like the human body, organizations are also affected by organic dysfunctions. either in whole or in part. This article presents a theoretical proposal that seeks to bring all the developments on disability in other sciences (mainly in the field of health) to the organizational field to understand how difficulties and limitations in basic and specialized capacities can negatively affect the innovation capacities of organizations. The proposal presented leads to a different view of the problems that arise within organizations, which would lead to developing various strategies that help improve the health of organizations, considering that their good condition does not depend on the absence of diseases, but the ability they possess to anticipate and deal with them.

: Precision technologies and smart farming practices are spreading globally. However, there are still limited insights into how these technologies develop in newly adopted countries and adapt to different local systems, especially in emergent economies. This article aims to diagnose the technological innovation system of precision technologies within Chile’s dairy sector, focusing on the possibilities of development and co-evo-lution. A structural-functional innovation system analysis is performed, based upon 41 semi-structured interviews. The main results indicate that precision technologies are in the implementation phase in the Chilean dairy sector, with scarce experience and undeveloped knowledge of their benefits. Moreover, there are insufficient interactions between different actors with limited information sharing due to the lack of trust as a cultural issue, affecting the development of smart farming practices. Some strategies to develop and co-evolve the technological systems are discussed, as is the need to increase trust and cooperation between the actors of the dairy sector.

: The Oslo Manual said that it related innovation capabilities to the general abilities of the company. Also, it set of valuable assets that the company uses to establish innovation strategies. It related it to them to competitive advantage and growth in sales. Using international indicators to measure the innovation capacity of companies has been usual at the Latin American level. However, these concepts do not show the same aca-demic clarity in the state-of-the-art. This article aims to explain the relationship between innovation capacity and the innovation index in Latin America regarding the international context. The method comprised a systematic review identifying first the countries that evidence empirical studies related to innovation capacity. And second, it established that the relationship between the innovation capacity and the innovation index. Result proposed a technical efficiency index to analyse the differences between Latin America and the international context. The principal contribution of the study is that it explains the innovation capacities of global innovation through the proposed technical efficiency index. The results show that the technical efficiency indices are similar in the two groups of countries analysed, and the higher the innovative capacity, the higher the innovation index.
