Jihadi terrorism may be understood as a military tool used for political and military purposes of an actor in international relations. This article develops the concept of the Global insurgency, formulated by David Kilcullen. It is argued that Global Insurgency is a specific single actor with a distinctive strategic culture. The author examines the strategic culture of global insurgency from various angles through Gray's framework of seventeen dimensions of strategy. It is argued that the Global Insurgency operates on multiple levels of strategy with a high degree of coherence and with distinct strategic culture.

This text deals with the analysis of private military companies as an counterinsurgency actor in Afghanistan from the point of view of Erik Prince's proposal and application to the theory of David Kilcullen. The first part of the thesis deals with the theoretical and terminological definition of the basic concepts of this issue. A key part of the thesis is the subsequent analysis of the Prince's proposal and application to the theory of counterinsurgency. The conclusion of the work brings a general summary and recommendations based on the analysis.

The aim of this article is to analyse current state of the debate about hybrid war concept, focusing on the paradox of its success despite broad expert critique. The article specifically discusses pragmatism in use of the concept by institutions and authors as an explanation of the current situation. Finally, it analyses its possible causes, with special attention to its development and conceptual quality, and its possible implications.

The analyzed thesis of this contribution is an assumption that the foreign policy of the USA is undergoing a significant change. We are witnessing paradigm shift from of generation, which experienced the victory of the USA in the Cold War and was convinced of the need to maintain American Primacy in world politics, to the generation which grew up during the unsuccessful War on Terror (in Afghanistan and particularly in Iraq).

How to assess the strategic adjustment of international organisations? The article combines recent advances in the study of grand strategy and studies in institutional adaptation to explain NATO's and European Union's responses to current Russian revisionism. Selecting specific cases of NATO's Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) and EU's East StratCom Task Force, it analyses the innovativeness, scope and cohesiveness of these measures in the context of broader strategic readjustments. The conclusions pit the Alliance's gradual but more robust strategic renovation against the Union's more radical but limited and possibly fractious strategic breakthrough.

Russian military intervention in Ukraine has discredited the paradigm of low probability of armed conflict in Europe in the short and medium term. In Poland's case, the only adversary is Russia, enjoying the quantitative military advantage and, in certain cases, also the qualitative superiority. The aim of the paper is to analyse the possibilities to establish conventional deterrence capability against Russia. The study has been carried out from the military perspective, although the political context has been also portrayed. The analysis is designed as a confrontation of main assumptions of the deterrence concept with specific circumstance of Polish-Russian military relations. It leads to the evaluation of particular, available for Poland, measures as effective tools of deterrence.

The article analyzes activities and role of Bosniaks in contemporary Jihadist movement. Those activities are analyzed in three dimensions - domestic activities (local radical groups, recruitment, motivation or role of diaspora), activities on foreign battlefields (combat activities, propaganda or support activities) and return to homeland (violent activities, deradicalization or activities of state authorities). Analysis is focused on fighters from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and countries with significant Bosniak diaspora.
