Organizational Citizenship Behaviors and Counterproductive Work Behaviors: A Study of Tehran University of Medical Sciences Staff 组织公民行为与反生产行为:德黑兰医科大学员工的研究

Introduction: Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is associated with major factors such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment and productivity. However, counterproductive work behavior (CWB) as a voluntary behavior of the staff runs counter to the organizational objectives and interests. This research attempts to determine the relationship between OCB and CWB in the headquarters departments’ staff of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Methods: This descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional research was conducted in 2015-2016 on 235 staff of Tehran University of Medical Sciences who had been selected via employing Cochran formula. The research instrument included Pudsakoff‘s OCB Questionnaire including five dimensions of Altruism, Conscientiousness, Sportsmanship, Courtesy and Civic virtue, and the CWB questionnaire developed by Fox and Specter. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed through content and face validity measures while its reliability was confirmed via alpha Cronbach method. SPSS software was used for analyzing the collected data. Incidentally, the descriptive tables were presented using mean and percentages, while the analytical statistics were provided through Pearson Correlation and Spearman, T-test, ANOVA and Linear Regression Tests. Results: The OCB was measured to be over the average and was 3.58 ± 0.95, and the CWB mean was 3.58 ± 1.14. There was a negative significant correlation between CWB and OCB (P=0.03, r=0.382). The correlation analyses showed that 14% of the CWB variations could be associated with OCB. Conclusion: Since only as little as 14% of the CWB is associated with OCB, it seems that other intra-organizational factors such as organizational justice, managers’ ethics and organizational requirements could as well impact CWB and thus warrant further research.

Corruption in Cameroon: Public Perception on the Role and Effectiveness of the Different Anti-Corruption Agencies 喀麦隆的腐败:公众对不同反腐败机构的作用和有效性的看法

Corruption is a phenomenon with serious consequences that affects all communities in the world. In Cameroon, its effects are widespread in the Public and Private sectors. Cameroon has twice been classified as the most corrupt state in the world-1998 and 1999 as per Transparency International indices. The government has put several structures in place to fight this ill, but the population is still too clearly understand their roles. A study was therefore carried out to determine the public’s perception of the roles and effectiveness of the different anti-corruption agencies. Semi-structured questionnaires were administered to the public in Buea. Interviews were conducted with some workers of the major anticorruption agencies. Respondents agreed that corruption was a major problem and that its existence was due to lack of transparency, no accountability, greed, inadequate sensitization on its consequences. The notorious sectors were the police, gendarmerie, education, customs, treasury, taxation and judiciary. They identified the National Anti-Corruption Commission, Special Criminal Court and Supreme State Audit Office as popular anti-corruption agencies. The public is aware of the ills of corruption and they also understand government’s efforts towards its eradication. The roles of these anti-corruption institutions were however, not known by most of the respondents.

Impact of Brand Image on the Profitability of Firm, Analysis of Nestle Company Pakistan 品牌形象对企业盈利能力的影响,雀巢巴基斯坦公司分析

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of brand image on the firm’s profit. There are different dimensions of brand image that can affect the ultimate customers to have them. Some of the traits can be categorized here are quality of a specific product, product name, packaging and slogan etc. Different dimensions of brand image are discussed for an in depth analysis. These include “brand packaging”, “brand personality” and “word of mouth”. Hence after applying the particular tests the ultimate effect of all these aspects are checked on the profitability of Nestle Company on the basis of the data collected. Methodology applied: A questionnaire method is used to collect the data about the awareness of the brand. Probability sampling is used for this purpose, as the products Nestle Company are being consumed by almost all types of age of people. Findings and results: The results are obtained through applying tests include Correlation and Regression analysis. The outcomes are; the brand personality has positive impact on word of mouth and profitability with moderate strength, whereas brand packaging showed also positive impact, but the relation is weak. Word of mouth on other side revealed positive relation with profitability with good strength. Originality of the study: This study focused on the aspect to earn the profit through intangible asset that is brand image. This will help the owners and the managers of a Company to attain maximum benefits by the implication of these results. The results of this research will help firms to focus on brand image for better profits.

The Role of Effective Leadership Style in Successful Merger and Acquisition Growth Strategy of Ecobank Ghana 有效领导风格在加纳Ecobank成功并购成长战略中的作用

The study examined how effective leadership style assisted in motivation employees of Ecobank Ghana towards the successful implementation of its merger and acquisition growth strategy. In conducting the study, purposive sampling technique was adopted to select key officials of the bank, key managers and supervisors of the bank whose leadership styles influenced employees to work hard towards turning the new consolidated bank around. Out of 120 questionnaires distributed, 104 returned safely which enabled the relevant to be collated and analyzed for strategizing the direction of the study. The study noted transactional, laissez-faire and transformational leadership styles were all brought on board to assist employees of the bank work hard towards achieving set targets thereby improving upon their financial performance. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that with the new minimum capital adequacy level increased by the central bank of Ghana from US$20 million as at December 2012 to US$100 millions by December 2017, a lot more banks in the country have been slated for integration and will therefore need strong leadership styles to enable them to successfully undertake their mergers and acquisitions exercise.

The Impact of Effective Leadership Practice on Organizational Performance and Growth of State Owned Banks in Ghana: The Case of National Investment Bank, Ghana 加纳国有银行有效领导实践对组织绩效和成长的影响——以加纳国家投资银行为例

The study investigated the impact of effective leadership practices on an organizational growth and development in Ghana with the search light on the operations of National Investment Bank of Ghana (NIB). NIB recently had new management members with a new board of directors in place. For the year 2015 the bank shocked the banking fraternity when it was able to pay huge dividend to state coffers having experienced dividend draught for a long period. It is not too clear whether the leadership practices of the new executives have turned around the fortunes of the bank or the success story is due to the general boom in the banking industry of Ghana. Random sampling technique was adopted to select some branches of the bank and its headquarters as the study population. Purposive sampling technique was then employed to directly approach officials for their views. The questionnaire technique was the main research instrument while Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was employed to facilitate the analysis of the data. Findings of the study indicated that the new management team of NIB employed sound communication skills, very fair compensation packages groomed employees to perform better are some of the strategies for shoring up financial performance of the bank. The study therefore concluded by upholding the hypothesis that the recent success story associated with the financial performance of NIB was due to the leadership style of the new management team but not necessarily a direct result from the simile booming performance in the banking industry of Ghana. As a further study, the role ICT played in NIB’s success story deserves investigation.

Today, actions and behavior of firms in competitive markets play a significant and effective role in endeavors for building competitive advantages. This is very evident in service oriented industries, such as insurance industry. Meanwhile, organizational endeavors are considered in three directions in this research, which include market-orientation, competitororientation, and innovation-orientation. The main objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of organizational endeavors in the areas of innovation, competition and market orientation on building competitive advantages. The research method here is applied for the goal and survey for the descriptive nature. The statistical population of this research is the Staff of Saman Insurance branch. The number of people who participated in this research is 319 persons according to the Census Bureau of Saman Insurance. The researcher has used simple random sampling method to select the study sample these people, and the number of respondents people is determined by Cochran sampling formula to be as equal to 174 persons. A 24-question survey is used to collect data, and the validity and reliability of it is approved by the supervisor and adviser in advance. Data analysis software used in this research is Smart PLS. Results show that market-orientation, innovation-orientation and competitive-orientation does do have effect on competitive advantage building.

The researcher has used simple random sampling method to select the study sample these people, and the number of respondents people is determined by Cochran sampling formula to be as equal to 174 persons. A 24-question survey is used to collect data, and the validity and reliability of it is approved by the supervisor and adviser in advance. Data analysis software used in this research is Smart PLS. Sustainable Development and Public Administration:Challenges and Innovation in Citizen Engagement 可持续发展与公共管理:公民参与的挑战与创新

This article explores the challenges and practices of citizenship engagement in sustainability policymaking in the local governments worldwide. The analysis focuses on 52 case studies from the ICLEI-local governments [1] for sustainability database. Cases document successful sustainability experiences from 48 urban communities in 20 different countries. The article offers a broader-than-national overview of existing public administration practices to advance our understanding of how they evolve in response to the global environmental challenges. The analysis concludes that successful sustainability policies may take place disregarding the size or geographical location of the urban community, which is consistent with previous literature on the topic. Moreover, the study explores in detail cases with the strongest citizen engagement and suggests that bottom-up public participation is particularly strong when citizens have to deal with a specific problem. The strongest government-led frameworks of support for citizen engagement have been found in the medium-size European cities.

African Political Economy and The Quest for Free Market: Challenges andProspects 非洲政治经济与对自由市场的追求:挑战与前景

It is germane to state that communism to a market economy in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe has not gone down well in many aspects that could lead to growth and development in Africa but its movement in China and Vietnam has performed tangibly beyond expectation. Worthy to note is that Africa witnessed high level of stagnation in the beginning of the century of the post-colonial period and in recent time, there has been a competition between population and poverty reduction; the percentage in poverty has gone down, but the absolute numbers of impoverished have increased. The ostensible behind this piece is to assess the efforts of African states in their quest for achieving free market economy. This paper applied qualitative method of data collection while globalization theory was used as a basis of its analysis. The paper reveals that globalization has been a mixed blessing in this aspect as it plays an important role both in the successes and failures. It concludes that these dramatic economic events have not surprisingly been accompanied by a high level of intellectual ferment. It recommended among others that, new policies for alleviating poverty in order to ensure growth and development, such as conditional cash transfers and micro-lending as introduced be implemented to the fullest to ensure poverty is actually reduced to minimal level.

In recent years, many governments have focused on the development of innovative ways to improve the delivery of public services. There have been several international conferences and forums by world leaders seeking to improve the state of their countries’ public administration. Mauritius is no exception. An improvement of governance and public service delivery will make significant contributions towards the achievement of Millennium Development Goals. This paper analyses the measures Mauritius can adopt to promote institutional innovation, inclusiveness, and transformation which shall enhance public service delivery. The analysis occurs through a focus on the current state of public service delivery, what is being done, and what the country can do in the future.

The natural approach is undertaken by all the researchers regarding critical literature review is to make a target oriented attempt to categorize all the existing writings in to different relevant groups or classifications that fall within our area of interest and to find out main pillars of our discussion to support our research gaps as a point of helping argument in our study. Identifying all the principal authors of different research works by “backtracking” from a well-known, recent contribution to the oldest contributions in the same area of work. Same is the case with the present study, where literature review of all relevant work has been rigorously attempted to find out research gaps or research questions.
