By succumbing to the propaganda that design is about creating the 'new', we escape from reflecting on the moment of discovery in a living ecosystem. Reflective practice allows us to understand the continuity of development and provides an opportunity to engage speculative users in the acceptance of a symbiotically designed space, as opposed to revolutionary acts of uncritical design. The combination of theory and practice on the basis of projects carried out in the first years of study leads to Poiesis, as well as a sense of responsibility for lost natural capital, progressive gentrification or the disappearance of local activity.

The work analyzes the value systems of historical heritage in the context of Polish legislation, and also builds a background for assessing the historical value of architectural monuments. The presented investigations extend the discussion of the original HeV method, used in historic value assessment procedures. The specificity of historical values indicates the validity of starting with historical analyses, building a narrative, and then searching for ways to discover the extent to which the architectural substance perpetuates and transmits this narrative, as well as what specific values are associated with it according to the selected system.

The article, based on the example of Krakow and the Krakow metropolis, discusses the method of managing space through the Development Strategy document, and in particular the recently launched Functional and Spatial Structure Model. After analyzing three documents of the Strategy, conclusions are drawn regarding the shortcomings resulting from these documents and good practices related to them. The guidelines may be helpful for other metropolises and for improving the current economic and spatial planning system in Poland. The article also draws attention to the authors of individual documents, which is particularly important in times of depreciation of the urban planning profession.

Sinop, a strategically important city in history, has felt the need to defend against the dangers of being a widespread settlement in almost every period. Even today, traces of defensive structures can be found in the city. For this reason, it is possible to see how the inner castle changed over the years and how it was shaped according to needs from the Hellenistic period to the Ottoman period. This study aims to examine how the structure changes according to periods.

Proportion and mathematical ratio, as elements of beauty, have been used in architecture and urban planning since ancient times. This article presents a case study of this phenomenon in the form of mathematical analysis of spatial parameters in the district of Nowe Miasto in Szczecin (1845). The analysis demonstrates the absence of the use of geometrical proportion principles, while the principle of ratios was applied. The urban composition of New Town features urban elements shaped in the Baroque era, such as wide promenades connected to squares. However there has been a "loosening" of the rigorous geometry and symmetry typical of the Baroque era.

The article explores the topic of privatization of public space occurring in the process of contemporary urban planning policies, on the example of city of Zagreb in Croatia. The division between public and private in the European cities, particularly post-socialist cities, has historically been rather clear. However, with the change of socio-economic system, continuous development and adopting the contemporary planning practices such as public-private partnerships, the line between public and private is becoming blurred. The article analyses current practices and explores the possible risk for the city in case these practices prevail.

Warsaw of the 21st century is struggling with many problems in the context of urban planning, and one of them is the deficit of public parking spaces. The aim of the research is to assess newly built housing estates in Warsaw in terms of providing a sufficient number of public parking spaces. The study adopted the in situ inspection method and was supported by a diagnostic survey in the form of a questionnaire. The article analyzes two housing estates with service premises on the ground floor at Komputerowa Street in Warsaw's Mokotów district. The analyzed area is covered by the Local Spatial Development Plan, which would indicate a well-planned space, but the solutions confronted with reality turn out to be insufficient for the needs of a contemporary inhabitant of the capital. The article also examines nowadays pro-ecological methods of city planning, which introduce restrictions on car traffic, and analyzes the possibility of using them in the discussed housing estates.

The concept of biophilic design aims to restore the relationship between humans and nature in the spaces we live in. The study presented in the article concerns public library spaces in which natural greenery was introduced as an integral part of the interior design. The analysis involves quantitative observation with an eye-tracking device. The results demonstrate the rate of observed fixation points presented as heat maps, which describe the connection between the presence of greenery in the interiors and the observers' viewing track. The presented conclusions on desirable qualities and composition of greenery in the interior are applicable in the interior architecture.

This article presents the outcomes of the testing of the Clash Detection Module, which is part of an e-learning platform designed for BIM self-education of students in the AEC sector. This platform was created as part of the implementation of the BIMaHEAD EU-funded Project in 2021-2023. The author points to the validity of the chosen direction of developing new forms of learning addressed to the needs of Generation Z. This was confirmed by the user experience survey. The feedback collected from the students helped to develop solutions customised to the learners needs.

The article, in the theological and philosophical key, shows the Christian understanding of beauty and its place in the broadly understood sacred art. The author points to a specific evolution of beauty, which from the Renaissance to modern times lost its original mysticism of beauty in favor of its individualistic interpretations, closing the need to find divine-human unity in sacred art. This is expressed in the liturgy and the eternal connection with it of the arts, both structural and expressive. Looking for patterns reaching the essence of beauty in sacred arts, the author brings out two Italian architects: Ciro Lomonte and Guido Santoro, who in a small parish church in Sancipirello reached for the primal instinct of beauty in sacred art and, through simple forms, made a kind of sacralization of the "naked" church interior.
