Juveniles in the criminal justice system have higher rates of mental health needs than those in the general population. The screening of these needs in admission to the legal devices allows identifying those cases that require specific and immediate intervention. The present study explores the prevalence and comorbidity of mental health needs in 55 adolescents admitted to a closed detention center of the juvenile justice system through a translated version for MAYSI-2 for Argentina (Grisso, Barnum, Orpianessi & Arbach, 2018). Approximately 90% of the adolescents presented scores that indicated the probable presence of at least one type of mental health need. A similar proportion reports having experienced traumatic experiences along their lives. The most prevalent clinical conditions were somatization, thought disturbance, and depressive and anxious symptoms. The alcohol and drug abuse subscale recorded the highest proportion of adolescents with scores above the maximum cut-off point. Almost all of the cases had scores that indicated the presence of two or more comorbid conditions. MAYSI-2 could be a promissory tool in the implementation of screening strategies in resource-limited settings. Practical and research implications of these findings are discussed.

The present study consisted of the linguistic, conceptual, and metric adaptation of the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ; Gross & John, 2003). It is a self-report measure made up of 10 items that allow the evaluation of two Emotional Regulation strategies: cognitive re-evaluation (6 items) and expressive suppression (4 items). To carry out the adaptation, a direct translation of the questionnaire from English to Spanish was performed, followed by an expert judgment procedure and a reagent discrimination analysis. Then, a factor structure of this version was analyzed with confirmatory factor analyses in a sample composed of 250 adults between 18 and 63 years (M = 32.28, SD = 11.74), residents from Buenos Aires City and Greater Buenos Aires. Finally, evidence of the reliability of the instrument was sought and normative values were established. The results indicate that the adapted version of the ERQ presents adequate content validity (percentages of agreement between .80 and 1), adequate factorial validity for the model of two independent factors S-Bc2 (27) = 61.98, NNFI = .91; CFI = .93; RMSEA (.05 - .10) = .07, AIC = 7.98, showing acceptable internal consistency indices (α ordinal = .81 and ω ordinal = .87 for the cognitive reappraisal factor; and α ordinal = .71 and ω ordinal = .79 for the expressive suppression factor.

This study aimed to evaluate the adequacy of the SCL-27 scale (Sympton Checklist-27) to be used in Argentinean general and clinical populations and its comparison with the SCL-90R. An intentional sample of 400 participants from general population and a sample of 85 patients attending outpatient psychological treatment were used. The SCL-27, the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form scale, the CES-D depression scale, the Schaffer somatic symptoms scale and the Satisfaction with life scale were administered. The results indicated that the SCL-27 shows a very high correlation in all its dimensions with the original SCL-90-R scale. It had a high convergent validity with measures of depression and somatic symptoms and moderate and inverse correlation with measures of well-being. The reliability was adequate in its dimensions and excellent in the Global Severity Index. The scale scores clearly differentiated between the general population and the clinical population. The results of this study let us recommend the use of the Global Severity Index of the SCL-27 as a general measure of psychological disorders.

The present work aims to understand the logic of the performance of existing public policies for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in Brazil, considering the historical path of the problem raised. We also intend here to focus on a social perspective, considering the conditions of life and vulnerability to which these subjects are submitted and how the available public policies respond to the needs of this population. The methodology used was a systematic literature review that sought to answer how public policies for PLHIV work. Given the above, it is possible to understand that the crossings over HIV/AIDS are diverse and complex, showing that it is not only a matter of health, but social, political, economic and cultural. Therefore, interprofessionality, decentralization of care and a person-centered approach are essential practices for improving the quality of life of PLHIV and decreasing the rate of infection.

The CRAS psychologist works with the prevention and strengthening of bonds, whether individually or collectively, in the context of social vulnerability based on interventions that promote basic protection, based on ethical thinking that guarantees the realization of people's rights. The study is a report of an internship experience in Psychological Assessment and Psychodiagnosis developed by academics from the 7th period of the Psychology course, aiming to discuss the practice of the Psychological Assessment process, in the activity of the Public Policy psychology professional assistants. The internship took place between the months of August and December 2020 at a Reference Center for Social Assistance in a peripheral neighborhood in a city in the interior of the state of Maranhão, after authorization from the Ministry of Education - MEC, for the return of curricular internships. caused by COVID-19 contingencies. The experience of conducting the internship in psychological assessment in a public institution like CRAS is challenging for any student of psychology, since the institution does not provide the appropriate physical, structural and instrumental environment for the psychological assessment process, being successful in tracking users of the service that needed psychological interventions and were referred to health services. This investigation aimed to analyze the perceptions of young practitioners of Olympic and Paralympic modalities about the development of life skills through sport, according to sex, age group and time of practice. The sample included 147 young athletes from Olympic (n = 57) and Paralympic (n = 90) modalities, with an average age of 13.14 ± 1.37 years and practice time of 7.35 ± 4.83 years. The instruments used were: a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Life Skills Scale for Sport (P-LSSS). Data analysis was performed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests, independent t and Pearson correlation (p <0.05). The most experienced practitioners obtained higher values in the dimensions of leadership and communication (p <0.05). When comparing the sexes, the boys obtained a greater perception of learning in the variables: goal setting, social skills and emotional skills (p <0.05). When comparing the modalities, Olympic sports athletes showed significant differences in teamwork, problem solving, emotional skills, leadership, time control and communication (p <0.05). It is concluded, based on the conception of young athletes, that sport can contribute to the learning of positive characteristics, with sports practice in the long run being one of the possible factors that result in the success of this process.

Feeding and Eating Disorders (FED) are amongst the most frequent and severe psychiatric disorders in adolescence. These disorders can be considered an important public health issue, since they mostly affect a young population with potential significant functional impact at a young age and throughout adult life. Cognitive behavioral approach has demonstrated evidence as one of the empirically validated reference treatments for all FED. This article aims to perform a narrative review of the cognitive behavioral conceptualization and treatment approach of FED. Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CCT-E) is the treatment of choice for adolescents with FED when Family Therapy is contraindicated, not accepted, or not effective. Furthermore, the importance of an early intervention is emphasized, since it has been demonstrated that CCT-E has more effective results and in a shorter period of time in adolescents compared with an adult population.

This paper has emerged from concerns with the words subject, user, citizen, desire and demand, which are regularly used in the field of social assistance. In the light of Psychoanalysis, the aim is to analyze the way that those terms have emerged and been articulated in two documents involving practices by Psychology professionals in the sphere of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS): the National Policy for Social Assistance, and the Technical Note on Parameters for the performance of Psychology professionals in the Unified Social Assistance System. From both the number of times and the context in which those words appear, one can know possible meanings attributed to them. Subsequently, the paper problematizes the conditions found by Psychology professionals to provide those seeking for the service with a place they can express more than their demands, thus favoring the acknowledgement of the subjects in their desiring condition.
