In this paper, we proposed a new concept of tour, named interest-based tour, and based on this new concept, we have developed a tour planning tool. The interest-based tour is literally a tour to visit places related to a given interest. Interest argued in this paper is not limited to only point such as things and places. We extend the concept of interest to line (e.g. a famous person's history) and area (e.g. the Age of Discovery). Social network site (SNS) enables us to find travel experiences of visiting places related to the interest. So we use Twitter to collect travel experiences related to the given interest, then use process mining technique to make these experiences into a tour plan.

Gait monitoring system for human activity recognition is demonstrated using a perceptive shoe based on hetero-core fiber optics. The insole with hetero-core fiber monitors foot pressure without temperature dependency and constraint to human body. Monitoring test was performed by a human subject doing basic activities which are walking, walking on the spot, running, standing, and sitting on a chair. The human activities were successfully monitored by means of perceptive shoe using hetero-core fiber optics. In addition, walking on the spot and standing were identified using only front weight response.

After Great East Japan Earthquake, we increase importance to conserve electric power consumption by using Home Energy Management System, HEMS for short. However, HEMS is insufficient approaches other than change in figure. This study develops user experience as a service for consumers and estimates the system.

The Network Management Center needs to be highly intelligent to control the network devices for Quality of Service (QoS) assurance. To make sure the traffic of the call and the data as well as the satisfaction from the customers, we develop a decision support (DS) mechanism for the 4G mobile networking with QoS awareness. In this study, real experimental results are explored from the WiMAX equipment. The MRTR parameter is automatically adjusted by the K-Means clustering algorithm. We show that automated DS mechanism can be achieved with QoS guarantee for 4G mobile network.

Nowadays, the rapid growth of World Wide Web has been resulted in an exponential growth of the data and visual information with full of interesting bits of contents that can be found online. In such situations, finding out images that satisfy user intentions from a huge collection is more and more required, which emphasizes the importance of web image search and visual information ranking system as filters for users. For these reasons, we propose user-centric visual information rank and re-ranking system for web image search to explore the global trends in innovation by combining the sharing patterns of social network. Specifically, we establish an embedded Markov Chain Model along with local and global image features of visual information content for ranking image search engine. In order to evaluate the performance of proposed method, we will conduct a series of experiments based on social media platforms and a real-life social Yelp network dataset with respect to consumer perspectives.

Groups are divided into two types. One is a permanent group, such as class of students or a division of corporate employees. The other is a temporary group, such as passengers on a bus or an airplane. There are many approaches for permanent grouping services. However, a methodology for temporary grouping does not exist. Therefore, we focus on temporary grouping and its features. In this paper, we propose an approach for temporary grouping using smartphones. We implement a prototype system and clarify features for a temporary grouping method.

Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) are gathering attention now and used in various fields. Accordingly, the demand for verification of GPU Programs is increasing. In this paper, we describe a method to detect bank conflict by using symbolic execution. Bank conflict is the bug happening when multiple processing units access the same bank in the shared memory at the same time. Symbolic execution is a means of analyzing programs with symbolic values. We implement a prototype model checker to detect bank conflict and evaluate it by tests in GkleeTests [4].

Dependable Network-on-Chips (NoCs) are crucial for the design of recent large scale embedded systems in high-end consumer electronics products. A new NoC architecture named extended 2D mesh NoC (E2DM-NoC) has been proposed in the previous study. The E2DM-NoC is shown to be effective in the reduction of routing rules and communication latency; however, its implementation and performance have not fully studied yet. In this paper, we present a prototype router circuit to build an E2DM-NoC and design it with a hardware description language. The hardware overhead of the E2DM-NoC is also discussed.

Individual thermal stress of people in physical training has not been evaluated quantitatively in real time. The main limitations in evaluating individual thermal stress are the difficulties in measuring individual thermal parameters, clothing insulation, and metabolic rate. In this study, we aimed to overcome these limitations with metabolic rate measurement. For calculating metabolic rate in real time without breath gas analysis, we proposed a derivation method from oxygen consumption and lung volume. We found that the deviation of chest size is proportional to the change of lung volume in each person, and the coefficient of determination was greater than 0.90.

I-Scover is the article retrieval system of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE). This system manages the article metadata by Linked Data format. The research field analysis of the articles is important, and the effective article classification is desired for faceted navigation. The simulation results of the proposed analysis method show the good performance and the validity of this method is confirmed.
