This article analyses how the new European regulatory framework of audiovisual media on-demand and video-sharing services is configured, in the present context of intersection and convergence between television and Internet services. Furthermore, the characteristics  of the ten main video platforms which operate in the Spanish market are studied in order to forecast their adaptation to the new regulation. This implies to focus on the most relevant related aspects included in the 2018 EU Audiovisual Media Services Directive and the 2019 EU Copyright Directive, as well as the technological neutrality implications to ensure the access and distribution of information. It is concluded that the new regulatory framework applies to platforms similar rules to those that already regulate the 5.000 TV channels which operate in the EU, providing higher transparency, more protection for users and content creators, and non discrimination measures in access to contents. It is observed that the platforms object of study that operate in Spain will require an adaptation to the new European  audiovisual  environment,  particularly  in  everything  referring  to  contents  for minors, users’ age verification  and share of European content.

Breve historia de la televisión italiana destinada a inmigrantes: el caso de Babel TV 意大利移民电视简史:巴别塔电视案例

In those countries where immigration has more ancient roots than in Italy, media run by foreigners are a consolidated reality. In this contribution, we will present the media framework that Italian broadcasting, from its origins to the present day, has specifically dedicated to immigrant audiences. In particular, we will analyse the case study of an Italian television service designed for immigrants: Babel TV (a Sky channel that run from 2010 to 2014). In the second part of the article, we will examine the television consumption of this channel by immigrants. The empirical research was carried out in the city of Messina by means of interviews with men and women belonging to the three most numerous foreign communities in the town: Sri Lankan, Filipino and Chinese (ANPAL, 2017). In our analysis we will try to understand the following aspects: the loyalty of customers to this television channel, their preferences among the various genres proposed by Babel TV, and the role that this television airtime has had in maintaining a relationship between their country of origin and the host country. It is concluded that the immigrants consume television on behalf of their needs and according to social, cultural and economic factors, which conform the individual and social identities.

El número musical en las series de televisión: la sincronía musicovisual como característica principal de la escena musical 电视连续剧中的音乐数字:音乐-视觉同步是音乐场景的主要特征

Musical performances have become a common resource in television fiction. The objectives of this research are to study musical performances and their main characteristics in television fiction; to define the type of music used in these performances; and, finally, to indicate what kind of musical-visual synchronisation is used in the selected samples. In this descriptive study, two procedures have been employed: the bibliographical review and the study of 76 cases of musical performances in different episodes. Television series, mostly in dra medy format, include one or several musical performances in some of their episodes, both as a tribute to the musical genre, as well as a way of offering new content to its audience. In many cases pre-existing music is used, and more specifically, the cover musical format, in order to offer songs performed by the same cast of the series. An important characteristic is the musical-visual synchronisation in these types of scenes. This synchrony is generally categorised as unifying, and it is produced by both the phrasing, facial gestures and body movements of the characters, and by the rhythm of editing in the post-production of the episode.

In this paper we analyze the vertical merger between the telecommunications company AT&T and the media conglomerate Time Warner as a result of the changes in the American TV industry, caused by digital convergence. From a theoretical-methodological perspective of political economy of communication, we examine the anti-competitive effects of the merger on the market and its possible consequences. This analytical input allows us to consider the new conditions in which video content is produced, distributed and consumed as a result of digitization.

‘Steven Universe’: un héroe dialógico como engranaje del cambio 《史蒂文宇宙》:一个对话英雄作为改变的齿轮

The objective of this research is to reflect on the representation of the systems of domination and resistance present in the children's / youth animation series imagined by Rebeca Sugar: Steven Universe (Cartoon Network, 2013-2019). For that purpose, five seasons (160 episodes) are analyzed using the following methodological tools: the analysis of qualitative content and intersectionality (especially the ‘matrix of domination’ designed by Patricia Hill Collins). In this regard, it should be noted that this show uses the licenses of fantasy science fiction to narrate, in a childish manner, the interactions between domination systems such as capitalism, colonialism, sexism or racism. It also talks about the strategies that the characters develop to overcome it, especially through dialogue and empathy and the introduction of topics as diverse as identity search, LGBTI+ rights or the refugee crisis, among others. In conclusion, it can be affirmed that Steven Universe is committed to a transformation of the media field in terms of diversity and social justice.

La medición de televisión en España: estado del arte y propuesta para el cálculo de la audiencia híbrida total 西班牙的电视测量:混合总观众计算的现状和建议

The television environment has suffered an authentic digital revolution in recent years, covered by a wide range of media and platforms, and the ease of connection and exchange of audiovisual content between them. This change has encouraged television consumption has also evolved towards hyper-fragmentation of the audience, worthy of study. In this context, the main company in charge of audience measurement of linear television in Spain has decided to go a step further towards a cross-media measurement; using traditional methods, changing them to digital ones. But the great process of digitization pushes us to make a measurement of the audience much more complete than what is being considered in the audiovisual sector; In this way, in the present investigation, a total hybrid measurement of the audiovisual contents that are issued in the different platforms is proposed. Noting, at the same time, the need for the creation of an organization that ensures the veracity of the data that can be obtained, and for the privacy and rights of the users. La gestión de las redes sociales en la comunicación política y su influencia en la prensa 政治传播中的社交网络管理及其对媒体的影响

The use of social networks encourages individuals to access political information directly, either through the personal profiles of political leaders, their parties or organizations. All this without limiting the information in the media themselves, but already, with a limited time. Politicians, problems of this situation, take advantage of the direct contact of social networks to seek participation among their followers, which can lead to the press in a time of crisis. This work aims to analyze the use made by Twitter of the main political parties in the General Elections of April 28, 2019, in order to find out the content strategy followed and to what extent it could influence press consumption. The results will reach the way politicians will use social media content as the strategy to achieve their communication goals, and how it could influence press consumption. La percepción de la comunidad académica sobre el sistema de investigación y evaluación en Comunicación 学术团体对传播研究与评价体系的看法

This paper aims to analyze the context in which the Communication is developed as a social practice from a discursive dimension. This work is based on a qualitative perspective of an exploratory nature, so it does not have initial hypotheses. Its objective is to extract the academic community predominant opinion lines on the Communication Research and Evaluation System and its influence in the academic and scientific context. To this end, a Likert-type online survey has been launched on a census of 2,418 researchers in Communication in Spain, reaching 604 responses, representing a response rate of 24.97%. It is assumed that the research community is part of the same academic ecosystem, being all subjects closely interrelated. Therefore, the design of the survey obeys to a model based on three dimensions: knowledge production, institution management and research evaluation. Among the main conclusions stands out the generalized perception that the research and evaluation system has provoked a functionalist dynamic. It conditions the form of research, fully affecting innovation and interruption of scientific discourse. Modelos de negocio para el periodismo: una propuesta metodológica para realizar estudios de caso 新闻商业模式:案例研究的方法论建议

The journalism industry faces difficulties in creating sustainable business models for the digital age. Communications research has looked at this challenge through case studies and panoramic perspectives, but there’s a lack of holistic views and a need for focus on value creation. In this situation, this paper presents a systematic literature review that confirms there’s a clear lack of standardization between the case studies, whose main focus have been revenue streams at the expense of deeper analysis of other key factors for the economic success of a company, like the value proposition. With the aim to contribute to the solution of this problem, the paper also proposes a methodological tool that allows future researchers to analyze the business model of a journalism company in a standard way with a view to facilitate better comparisons between companies and to understand success patterns of sustainable business models in order to promote innovation and knowledge exchange. Voces y dramatizados de reivindicación: La experiencia en una comunidad rural de Ecuador 要求的声音和戏剧化:厄瓜多尔农村社区的经验

This paper describes how radio and theatre joint together in a rural community in Ecuador as instruments for women’s rights claiming, highlighting their roles in the public sphere. By means of a qualitative methodology with focus groups, women could show their reality, enclosed in a patriarchal culture that reflects the different faces of violence against women. This action research shows as results that woman´s role as a social subject is invisible and that inequality of roles at household chores affects the woman and that this practice is strongly reinforced in the discourse towards sons and daughters at these homes. Given these circumstances, in edu-communication framework, both radio and theatre stand out with a social and liberating approach in the fight for equal rights and opportunities in men and women relationships.
