The fast algorithm for wheel and rail conformal and multipoint contact modeling is developed. The algorithm for solution of the normal contact problem does not require calculation of the integrals therefore CPU time is decreased. The FASTSIM algorithm is used for solution of the tangential contact problem. Results of solution with the fast algorithm application are compared with the results obtained by using finite element method.

In this paper, the problem of head pose estimation is described. The solution consists of several stages. The clustering is a critical step. The clustering of feature points of the image is consuming and important step that needs to simplify and speed up. For this task, it is proposed to use the properties of a random walk on the graph. The random walk can lead to a measure of cluster cohesion. This approach is closely related to spectral graph theory. The paper presents formulas, steps of the algorithm and an example of calculations. Experiments and comparisons are made with the closest analogue, the method of normalized cut.

Scientifically substantiated new method for relaxation of residual stresses in the ring parts by high-cycle loading is given. On the basis of the energy approach developed a mathematical model describing the mechanism of relaxation of residual stresses in the ring parts in the multicyclic loading. This model takes into account the geometrical dimensions of the part, physical and mechanical properties of the material and technological modes of processing. We received an analytically expression defining vibro-mechanical processing time, required for the complete removal of residual stresses in the ring parts. It has been established that exceeding the specified time leads to an accumulation of residual stresses until the onset of destruction of products. Experimental studies that describe the change in the internal stress in the multicyclic loading are conducted.

The mathematical model of a condenser induction motor with a hollow nonmagnetic rotor is derived in the form of a system of differential equations. Modes of start-up and steady motor motion are investigated, motor modelling is done in the software package Comsol Multiphysics to compare and evaluate magnetic circuit saturation degree. Ways of improving the motor are planned.

Intensive underground mining leads to land subsidence and collapses. The paper shows an integrated approach to monitoring on the example of the Karaganda coal basin, including calculations of the displacement of rocks, leveling of profile lines and satellite radar interferometry. It is proved that satellite radar interferometry provides reliable measurement results of surface subsidence in mining areas and can be used for monitoring.

The paper describes a mathematical simulation of the acoustic signals. The propagation of signals in waveguides of circular section is simulated. For the analysis a linear model of ultrasound propagation is used. The purpose of mathematical modeling is accuracy increasing of distance measurement by acoustic methods.

The mathematical and physical modelling are shown to be required to investigate temperature condition of traction induction motors on locomotives. The physical model of traction and auxiliary drive of locomotive developed and constructed to investigate the thermal and electromechanical and control processes is presented. The technique and results of experimental investigation of thermal processes of heating and cooling in the 14 kW induction motor fed by frequency converter with scalar control and IR-compensation under the low values of the stator current frequency and rotor speed are presented. The rotor squirrel-cage rings of the induction motor are determined to be most stressed by overheating under the stator current frequency closed to null, the stator end winding on the side opposite to air supply becomes the most overheated unit of the induction motor under higher values of the stator current frequency.

Industrial electric power supply systems include domestic power plants. Thereat the urgent problem is optimal modes planning in terms of industrial power center. This task is supposed to be solved by means of generator optimal load algorithm using dynamic programming method. Electric power system has not only domestic power plants, but also a connection with external sources through autotransformers 500/220 kV. These elements could be single-phase repaired which affects to the whole electric power system operating conditions, especially to the generators of domestic power plants. That is when planning an optimal mode such an open-phase modes should be considered as well. This could be solved by means of the combination of subsequent reduction and symmetrical components methods.

This paper deals with power quality increasing problem in power supply systems of industrial enterprises with intensive spread of nonlinear load, including machine-building enterprises. The usage of shunt active filter as a kind of active correction system for power quality increasing is presented in the paper. The proposed algorithm of harmonic determination and elimination for shunt active filter is described and justified by means of mathematical modeling and computer simulation. A mathematical model of generalized industrial power supply system of machine-building enterprise with nonlinear load was developed within a Matlab Simulink software environment for this purpose. In process of simulation the efficiency of proposed algorithm is shown in different modes of harmonic compensation. The proposed model also can be used for harmonic emission evaluation when choosing proper technical decision for power quality rising.
