Approach of detection of buildings on satellite images is presented in this paper. Actuality of work is shown. Possible areas of the use of the research results are presented. The detection is based on joint use of height, color, shape. The height of the object is determined based on energy minimization within the region. The image is segmented previously. The area of vegetation and the shadows are detected based on color invariants. Regions of the image are grouped based on the properties using spectral clustering. The shape and size of objects are analyzed additionally. The results of the algorithm are given.

Progress in the advanced branches of technology has caused the need to manufacture parts of highly complex shapes that are often found through experimenting and only later is described with mathematical models. Most coordinate-measuring machines (CMM) now available have their capability based on implementation of the Cartesian coordinate system. This feature has become a bottleneck on the way to creating a new generation of CMM. A major breakthrough in this direction was the creation of a six-axis coordinate measuring machine or the hexapod. With six-axis probe control hexapods can control hard-to-reach surfaces of products and make measurements with output that is 2 to 5 times higher than the conventional CMM solutions. Absence of an integrated mathematical foundation remains the greatest problem, therefore multiple separate mathematical models are necessary for the control process. The “minimum volume of measured space” principle is going to become basis for science foundations of high-output control of complex surfaces to be created. According to the principle, top accuracy and output of control can be simultaneously achieved when the measured points cloud is located within encircling equidistant surfaces of minimum volume. Real-life realization of this approach rests on unique iterative methods of problem solving. The results of research will help industrial manufacturers adopt coordinate-measuring machines more intensively, also making it easier to adopt production technology considering information on tolerance in size, shape and surface layout.

A new way of statistical pulsation measurements by radioisotope technique is described. It is an alternative to the existing stream control methods and allows to improve accuracy of measurements. The effect of harmful substances transported in crude oil on the level of production at oil companies is dealt with in the article.

Power conversion systems with transistor controlled rectifiers are widely used in modern machinery. Currently, the actual mathematical description of such systems is not sufficiently elaborated, that complicates their research and development. This paper represents the piecewise-smooth mathematical model of a three-phase controlled rectifier in regeneration mode. The results of bifurcation processes simulation implemented by means of the proposed model are demonstrated. They prove its applicability to study of nonlinear dynamics of the considered converter.

This paper describes an approach to map the obstacles by the mobile robot in unknown environment in real time. The different ways of mapping are discussed, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. We have compared the known methods of mapping with the proposed method of mapping the obstacles in the form of lines. It describes how to use a different ways to reduce error data obtained by infrared sensors.

The analysis of fine structural changes occurring in the surface layers of dynamically interacting pieces of carbon steels of different chemical composition is conducted. Transformations occurring in ferrite and pearlite are investigated using transmission electron analysis. Based on the results of mathematical modeling, the distribution of temperature fields in dynamically interacting steel billets is established. It is found that the results of numerical modeling correlate with the experimental data. To determine the degree of hardening of the material of the welded plates hardness measurement was conducted using a Vickers microhardness tester.

The paper describes the software developed by authors for virtual prototyping. The software allows estimating fire-tube boiler operation by visual and math tools in real conditions of operation on design stage. Moreover it performs pre-operational checks of efficiency of the main units and equipment with minimum effort. The designed software is hybrid CAE/CAD system and allows estimation of possible engineering solutions efficiency in the design process. Functionality of the developed software allows the designer to work out the different units of power plants in real time, to design its appearance, and, also, to make optimizations of structural elements based on mathematical calculations. With the use of the designed software existing layouts of water-heater fire tubes for burning methane were analyzed. The results of performed analysis can be used for modernization suggestions of the considered fire-tube boilers, as well as for new boiler units design.
