Intra-organizational antecedents of talent management in the context of positive organizational scholarship: a study of companies operating in Poland 积极的组织学术背景下人才管理的组织内部先决条件:对在波兰经营的公司的研究

Purpose: The aim of the study is to empirically validate the influence of talent management antecedents identified in the literature. The concept of talent management is discussed in the context of Positive Organizational Scholarship. This idea helped to prepare a more accurate enumeration of the antecedents of talent management presented in the literature. The analysis of the literature was the basis for developing a set of propositions which constitute the model to be tested empirically. Methodology: The analyses presented in this paper were supported by the data collected in the questionnaire survey conducted among companies operating in Poland in 2012. The examined sample consisted of 73 organizations. Pearson correlation and partial least squares (PLS) path modelling were applied to analyze the causal relations between the variables. Findings: The analysis positively validated the cause-effect relationships between talent management and the following antecedents: talent management infrastructure and organizational culture, organization strategy, and internal communication. Research limitations: The study was limited to companies operating in Poland which established a specific cultural context. The relatively small research sample was another constraint. Therefore, the findings cannot be automatically extended to other organizations. Moreover, in order to reduce the observed ambiguity between causes and effects, quantitative studies should be supported by qualitative surveys based on the case study methodology. Originality/value: The outcomes of the study contribute to the field through the empirical testing of the theoretical assumptions concerning the antecedents of talent management.

Assessment of changes in population ageing in regions of the V4 countries with application of multidimensional scaling 基于多维尺度的V4国家区域人口老龄化变化评估

The study investigates the variation in population ageing in four Visegrad countries (V4) and across their NUTS2 regions in 2016 compared to 2005. Population ageing was assessed using the median age, old-age rate, double ageing index, ageing index, and old-age dependency ratio. The authors took into account causes that explain changes occurring at the bottom and at the top of the population pyramid. By applying multidimensional scaling combined with the composite indicator and the Theil decomposition, the study identified differences in the level of population ageing in a two-dimensional space and the dynamics of these changes. Such an approach, with the visualization of the results, enriches this interpretation. In the reference period the process of population ageing in the V4 countries and their regions accelerated considerably. The disproportion between regions has increased in Slovakia, slightly increased in Poland, and decreased in the Czech Republic and Hungary.

Gender unemployment in the Czech and Polish labour market 捷克和波兰劳动力市场的性别失业

Making use of EU-Labour Force Survey data, the authors estimated logistic regressions with a maximum likelihood method and found that gender unemployment risk was largely explained by human capital, marital status, receiving financial support, job experience and gender discrimination in both Poland and the Czech Republic. The gender unemployment risk gap amounted to 8% and 10% in Poland and the Czech Republic, respectively. Although the impact of marital status was significant and considerable, married women in the Czech Republic benefited from their marital status on average three times less than men in the Czech Republic, and men and women in Poland. In both countries only women aged below 30 were ‘rewarded’, while women beyond 50 years of age were penalized in terms of unemployment risk. As opposed to that, men up to 60 years old have their unemployment risk reduced all else equalled. The authors argue that this form of possible discrimination in some respects is a better measure of injustice than the commonly used pay gap and it constitutes an alternative dimension of ‘gender inequality’. The results can contribute to better targeted policies against discriminatory practices by enhancing the career paths demanded in the labour market and by breaking the stereotypes rooted in the cultures of Polish and Czech societies

Prices of accommodation rental as functioning on the basis of a sharing economy in the capitals of cee states 中东欧国家首都的住房租赁价格在共享经济的基础上发挥作用

* Faculty of Economics and Management, Opole University of Technology. Housing rental from private resources, thanks to the growing popularity of a sharing economy, is becoming more and more common. The principles of market activities compliant with the assumptions of a sharing economy create new frameworks in the science of economics, simultaneously subjecting classical methods and tools of management to verification. Making use of new information technologies and peer-to-peer technology, which as part of the former, has facilitated using a sharing economy in the hotel industry, creating a new community in the rental of housing market – people providing services of short-term renting of private accommodation facilities. The conducted research presents one-day rental (of the Bed & Breakfast type) functioning in compliance with the principles of a sharing economy. Its parametrization was carried out in the area of the formation of prices and their distribution. The resources of B&B rental were examined in the capital cities of Central and Eastern Europe. For each city the average prices of rental were determined, as were the average prices of extra services provided within the business activity (i.e. mean service charges and mean charges for cleaning). Additionally, a comparative analysis was carried out regarding the pricing of average rental costs with a simultaneous study of the significance of the differences observed in them. The conducted research allowed defining the structure of the total price of rental, which is composed of the price of the rental displayed on the webpage including offers of B&B rental and additional charges, i.e. the service and the cleaning fees. It follows from the conducted research, among others, that about one-third of the offered housing rental resources did not charge fees for cleaning and that the mean total price of housing rental for all the capitals of European the post-communist states ranged between 50 and 60 euros per night. From the point of view of the mean total rental price, the most expensive cities are Tallinn and Bratislava, whereas the cheapest countries are Bulgaria and Romania. The mean total rental prices for the capitals of Bulgaria and Romania are considerably lower than in the other capital cities of European post-communist states.

Is there “too much finance” in central and eastern european countries? 中东欧国家是否“金融过剩”?

In this paper, the parameters of the growth regression, including different variables measuring the degree of financial development for the Central and Eastern European countries are estimated. Next, the optimal values of specific variables measuring the level of financial development are calculated. The results of the empirical investigation indicate that countries with more stable financial markets and institutions and greater access to them grew faster in the period 2001-2015. The results reflecting the impact of the financial deepening on economic growth are more ambiguous. In the pre-crisis period, the relationship between the depth of financial institutions and economic growth turned out to be insignificant. After 2007, countries with moderate values (about 60%) of this coefficient recorded higher rates of growth in real GDP. A U-shaped relationship between the depth of financial markets and economic growth was identified. However the optimal level of development of stock markets was much higher in 2001-2007 than after the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy

The results of the empirical investigation indicate that countries with more stable financial markets and institutions and greater access to them grew faster in the period 2001-2015. The results reflecting the impact of the financial deepening on economic growth are more ambiguous. In the pre-crisis period, the relationship between the depth of financial institutions and economic growth turned out to be insignificant. After 2007, countries with moderate values (about 60%) of this coefficient recorded higher rates of growth in real GDP. A U-shaped relationship between the depth of financial markets and economic growth was identified. LC-IRT models with covariates in Polish job satisfaction analysis 波兰工作满意度分析的LC-IRT协变量模型

Employment is at the heart of European Union (EU) policies as it is the basis for wealth creation. Knowing how satisfied EU residents are with their occupation is very important, since losing one’s job may undermine one’s life satisfaction and its overall meaning (European Commission 2015). According to the most recent Eurostat data (European Commission 2017), Poland reported an average job satisfaction well above the EU mean, ranked 8th (behind Denmark, Iceland, Austria, Finland, Norway, Switzerland and Sweden). Thus, it is interesting to present an analysis focused on the job satisfaction of workers in Poland – a country of emigration, with the highest percentage of temporary contracts in Europe (European Commission 2016). The main aim of our study is understanding how the different socio-economic features affect the groups of workers with similar job satisfaction levels in Poland. Most of the Polish job satisfaction studies are focused on selected professional groups, in selected regions of Poland. This article presents another, the latent variable models approach to the heterogeneous data set for different subgroups of workers in all the regions of Poland. The combination of the two latent variable models enables to find homogeneous classes of individuals characterized by the similar latent ability levels, and at the same time, the item characteristics analysis (usually identified as discrimination indices and difficulty parameters) as well. Latent Class Item Response Theory (LC-IRT) models are more flexible in comparison with traditional formulations of Item Response Theory (IRT) models, often based on restrictive assumptions, such as normality of latent trait (explicitly introduced). Moreover, the authors also apply the extended latent variable models under the discrete assumption of the latent trait including individual socio-demographic features, such as age, sex, education, marital status or current financial situation. The article analyzes data collected as part of the International Social Survey Programme 2015 using R software. The results may help policymakers tailor their employment policies as well as to create and deliver services focused on special socio-economic groups of the Polish society.
