The article presents the results of a study of the Soft Skills development in the activities of student societies. The purpose of the article is the theoretical and empirical study of the Soft Skills development in the activities of student societies. The research methodology and its algorithm were selected due to the purpose of the study. To solve the research questions posed, we compiled a list of student societies of the Mytischi Branch (MB) of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University. It included 87 student societies, which were classified according to the type of their activity. The hypothesis of the research is that a close connection between student societies stimulates members of one society to be interested in the activities of associate societies, thereby acquiring new skills within the framework of this activity, among which there are so-called Soft Skills. Student societies can form both general, characteristic of all student organizations, and specific skills, characteristic of certain types of activity. In the course of the research work, all possible student societies were identified and classified. Next, we built a network map of the interaction among student societies. Also, using a targeted sample, 9 student societies were selected, representing different fields of activity. The leaders of these societies were interviewed using a semi-formalized interview method. The statutory documents on the activities of the societies under consideration were analyzed using the traditional method of document analysis.

Distance learning has always been of interest to researchers and scientists since its inception. In the current environment of the modern world, this type of training is becoming increasingly popular despite the large number of its opponents. Of course, it can not be called absolutely perfect, because it requires the availability of impeccable technical equipment of educational institutions, uninterrupted Internet, a perfectly working portal and an appropriate platform for such training. The Article is devoted to the description of the advantages and disadvantages of learning in higher education. In the context of modern realities, distance learning is spreading faster and faster in all areas of our life, in particular in the educational process. However, it cannot completely replace traditional learning. There is no doubt that distance learning has a number of advantages, but in view of the lack of uninterrupted Internet outside of large cities, and sometimes its complete absence, there are many problems regarding the organization of this type of training. It should also be noted that distance learning requires a lot of self-discipline of a person and the ability to independently study a particular subject. Therefore, before making a decision to completely replace traditional distance learning, it is necessary to weigh all the pros and cons, remembering that distance learning cannot be perfect enough and that it cannot be a worthy replacement for traditional learning.

The article deals with forming conscious discipline among students of higher educational institutions, as well as defines the criteria for assessing the development of discipline. The research object of the present work is the process of educating conscious discipline among students of higher educational institutions. The authors used the following methods in the article. Firstly, the analysis of literature sources made it possible to single out the main theories that were taken as the basis for the study. Secondly, the surbey method of conversation allowed the authors to identify the main problems of the relationship between students and teachers, as well as the reasons for the violation of discipline. Thirdly, the authors used the observation method, which helped to determine the relationship and actions of students in the group. This made it possible to more objectively identify the causes of conflicts and develop proposals for their resolution. The authors also studied special methodological literature on improving student discipline, which allowed them to propose measures to increase students’ motivation in the formation of conscious discipline. According to the authors, purposefulness, objectivity and pedagogically expedient actions of teachers, and their communication with students are the leading conditions that ensure the parenting of conscious discipline.

These findings lead to the conclusion that values that are having greater importance for females could be one of the factors contributing to their level of anxiety and depression while values being important for male students could be the factor helping them to cope with stressful situations. The development of further research would be suggested to explore the contribution of certain values to the level of anxiety and depression for students with more diverse and large sample.
