The right to education is a constitutional right of every citizen of the Republic of Bulgaria, including children with special educational needs. Practice shows that the implementation of the inclusive process in educational institutions to support children with special educational needs goes through a number of challenges, but leads to successful results. Through a survey, the opinion of 140 respondents (practicing teachers and students of pedagogic specialties) was analyzed in order to examine their point of view regarding the observance, respectively the violation of the right to education of the children with special educational needs. It turns out, unfortunately, that pedagogical professionals, who have a key role in the inclusion of children with special educational needs in school, do not always protect these rights.

Motivation for learning activities of students with intellectual disabilities is one of the factors of their success and development. Especially relevant is the motivation of students during distance learning, which is due to their psychophysical features. The study shows that special teachers understand the importance of motivation in achieving academic performance of students with intellectual disabilities, forming their skills to overcome difficulties, and developing their personality. Students with intellectual disabilities are motivated to learn differently from their peers with typical development. These features require from the correctional teacher much greater efforts in stimulating students to assimilate knowledge and skills; constant support of cognitive interests of students, overcoming their passivity, developing skills of independence, forming of initiative. It is established that the role of the special teacher in the formation of motivation of educational activity of students with intellectual disabilities is decisive, in particular through such features of students as: low level of cognitive activity, inertia of nervous processes, lack of formation of logical connections. The prospects of scientific research are the development of an integral system of correctional and developmental work, which will ensure the formation of all types of motivation of educational activities for this category of students.

Children are the age group least at risk of getting infected with COVID-19. However, children are (or have been) the hardest hit by almost all Corona public health measures. This article examines how in Germany, since the beginning of the Corona pandemic, there have been serious human rights violations concerning children and young people in areas such as, elementary protection, care and participation rights. Furthermore, various (omitted) government measures have contributed to the increase in child poverty.

This study aims to produce a product development design for the Science E-Module Heat Material Based on Flipbook Maker to increase the learning motivation of fifth-grade students at 60 State Elementary Schools, East City, Gorontalo City. The method used in this study refers to the Hannafin & Peck model. Hannafin & Peck’s model is a product-oriented research model. This model means that the product produced in this research is prioritized. At the same time, the effect produced in this study is an e-module of heat material based on flipbook maker in improving learning motivation of fifth-grade students. The E-Module of heat material design based on Flipbook Maker, which is designed using the Flipbook Maker application, has very feasible criteria of 95%. Thus, the E-module (electronic module) of heat material science designed using the Flipbook Maker application is included in the possible standards, can be used in learning, and is believed to generate student motivation in education, train students to think high-level and master technology.

Digital technology introduced a lot of benefits in the shipping industry but the relation between the equipment and the operator remains paramount and essential. Ship’s Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), being recently a cornerstone for navigation, is not an exception. Not only scientific reviews and articles, but also marine officer’s opinion exchange, in other words, ashore and on board, point out that there is a gap, which should be addressed as soon as possible. Operation of the ECDIS by the human factor is essential for safe navigation. The shortage of training and knowledge always leads to near misses and incidents. The marine society, all over the world, has to take appropriate measures in order to “fill in the gaps” and keep the safer practices. These measures should be applied by the efforts of certain participants: the educational community, the shipowners, the manufacturers and the legal aspect, International Maritime Organization and Flag Administrations. All the mentioned parties may engage in a cooperative collaboration among themselves. The aim of this article is to research the main difficulties experienced on board by the ECDIS users and the way to rectify certain shortcomings related to the ECDIS.

The two authors designed and piloted a novel Questionnaire for the measurement of intercultural awareness at the Deck department of a Hellenic Merchant Marine Academy, where the second author was employed to teach Maritime English. Such tool has not been proposed to date, not to mention distributed at the student population of trainee officers on watch. Only four students participated in our research longitudinally, thus statistical analysis of their answers in particular was not conducted. However, our research could be said to pave the way to similar designs with larger samples.

In the current context of exponential growth of knowledge, it is necessary to acquire new skills to enhance our knowledge in accordance with the fluctuating needs on the labour market. These new skills, such as problem analysis, information management, information assessment, may be developed through the data-driven learning (DDL) approach which fosters autonomy and self-directed learning thus developing life-long skills. This paper describes the application of DDL approach in teaching Maritime English which places the student in the centre of the process, while the traditional role of the teacher is transformed into a mentor, a guide, an advisor. In the process, the students are exposed to large amounts of authentic linguistic data in the form of corpora, which they actively search and study the patterns thus learning to learn.

This paper reports on the compilation of a multi-genre maritime domain-specific corpus and the research methods used to analyze it. The corpus was compiled using a combination of manual and automated methods, including web crawling and manual selection of relevant texts. Qualitative and quantitative methods, such as discourse analysis and statistical analysis, were employed to analyze the corpus. The paper describes the background, significance, text scope, principles, and process for compiling the corpus, and explores its applications, including maritime language curriculum development, standardization of maritime language genres, international maritime discourse analysis, term extraction, development of maritime domain-specific machine translation models, and the study of quantitative linguistics in the maritime domain. This study can provide a valuable resource for researchers and educators in the maritime domain and serve as a reference and inspiration for future studies in this field.

The current appeal within MET to design effective online courses has arisen from the necessity to develop flexible learning environment to reinforce student background knowledge and widen student access to information. The paper presents ways for maximizing students’ learning in Maritime English online course under conditions of permanent online learning and teaching. The participants in this study are students of the Navigation Faculty and teachers of the English Language Department for Deck Officers at Kherson State Maritime Academy, Ukraine. The study examines students’ engagement and teachers’ experiences while learning and teaching Maritime English via virtual platforms. Online surveys have been designed to investigate the effectiveness of tailor-made e-books and supplementary e-courses on the LMS Moodle platform to enable communicative interaction and provide communicative proficiency development at online lessons on Zoom. The survey has explored students’ advancements in the online course and the areas for further instruction upgrading to reinforce personalized and active learning.
