The global health crisis has brought a radical change in many areas. This change was driven by increased use of technology to support a large number of processes. In this scenario, we developed the Human-Computer Interaction course in two phases. A first adaptation from face-to-face into online and a second one focused on a blended approach to solving the problems related to the hybrid rotational model. During this process, the Microsoft Teams tool has provided a useful space to improve communication among the teaching staff and the students.

Current teaching tendencies on virtual education have lived an exponential growth after the pandemic crisis. Studying online is more and more an option, and both professors and students may face a challenge in their careers. Different studies point to the fact that educators must be trained not only on virtual methodologies, but also on social, emotional and facilitation of the learning experience. Getting in touch and establishing a personal, continuous and stable link with students may mean a big difference in students’ learning process but in order to achieve that, professors need training and support.

The distance education model has insufficient consideration of the emotional aspects of the students, where the training action takes place without personal interactions, causing it to be very difficult to feel like a member of an educational community. The research aimed to observe the evolution of emotions and learning styles during the Master’s Degree in Research in Teacher Training and ICT. A quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest, single-group research design was employed, using descriptive and inferential data analysis. On the one hand, the questionnaire to measure emotions towards the elements of online education. On the other hand, the REATIC (Relation of Learning Styles with ICT, in Spanish) questionnaire. A significant increase in boredom has been observed and the predominant learning styles are pragmatic and theoretical.

Gamification needs to be applied considering the needs of our students. This research analyses the importance of emotion after accomplishing an online gamified experience with 53 primary school pre-service teachers. After facing a semester-long gamification, they filled a questionnaire about their sensations and preferences. These were analysed to check the pertinence of the gamification. The results show how pre-service teachers liked the gamification which resulted in an enjoyable learning experience that made them feel motivated and satisfied. This could help teachers plan, implement, and evaluate gamification activities embedded in higher education instruction.

With the globalization and proliferation of COVID-19, new challenges have emerged in higher education regarding the use and integration of new technologies. In this context, the university is called upon to organize, distribute, and design the best strategies to overcome the challenge of distance education in times of pandemic. This document proposes elements that support the implementation of a Digital Transformation Plan of the Technological University of Panama. The digital resource platform developed for professors and researchers to share with their students, digital resources such as: manuals, tools, videos, webinars, podcasts, and various experiences that contribute to the support of the teaching-learning process is presented. The structure of the platform is presented, as well as an evaluation by registered users.
