Industrial tourism asserts itself as a tourist product of high economic, cultural and recreational value, through which the visitor can experience the dynamics of companies in activity and/or relive activities from other times, visiting archaeological and museum spaces. The main objective of this work is to investigate the feasibility of implementing an industrial tourism network in Vila Nova de Gaia (Portugal). It was decided to focus on an aggregation of active companies, with the aim of re‑dimensioning the tourist offer and giving the municipality notoriety in industrial terms. The case study method was used, which was associated with a set of data collection tools, namely the survey through interviews with municipal entities and stakeholders, in this case industries interested in joining the network. It was possible to assess the degree of maturity of the project and how the intended industrial tourism network in the region could be implemented.

Previous literature recognises the great importance of entrepreneurship in a country’s development, as it constitutes a cornerstone of economic growth by favouring job creation, innovation and competitiveness. In fact, the economic difficulties faced by most countries are prompting governments to promote entrepreneurial activities with the main objective of contributing to long‑term sustainable development. In addition to entrepreneurship, tourism is also an important activity within a given economy, as it constitutes one of the main axes of a country’s economic development. Therefore, in this study, we intend to approach a relationship between entrepreneurship and tourism development, emphasising the great importance of political institutions in promoting it. To this end, we will carry out a bibliometric study to identify and quantify the existing trends in relation to these three fields: politics, entrepreneurship and tourism. Finally, we will analyse the Spanish legal framework in these areas. Policy for developing the tourism through entrepreneurship, but its implementation has been poor.

Tourism in search of spiritual oneness with Nature is considered to be one of the new trends in tour‑ ism. Thus, the objective of this article is to contextualise research into Spiritual Tourism and to understand its relationship with Nature. Initially a review of the literature was carried out to find academic papers on this topic and to identify the relationship between the segment and nature, with subsequent analysis using the IRAMUTEQ® software. In total 92 scientific papers were identified, 26 countries studied, with the country most studied as India, followed by Peru and Indonesia, with Brazil, Kazakhstan and Thailand in joint fourth place. It is concluded that this segment depends implicitly on a close relationship with nature, since natural environments provide spiritual experiences. In addition, Spiritual Tourism has the potential to contribute to the sustainability of tourism, through conservation of nature and heritage.

With the changes manifested in rural areas over the last few decades, the preservation of these ter‑ ritories and their people is associated with the ability of the local population to innovate, often using endogenous resources. Traditional Arts and Crafts (TACs), allied to other local economic activities, constitute instruments of local socioeconomic regeneration. Starting from a research based on the websites of the fourteen municipalities of the interior region Viseu Dão Lafões in Portugal, complemented with analysis of bibliographic information regarding the initiatives described in the same websites, in this study, it is intended to observe what is the dis‑ semination that is made by the websites of the municipalities in the region and explore the innovation imprinted by these initiatives. The results suggest that despite the existence of notable examples of TACs initiatives in the region, with a clear focus on innovation – product, process, organizational and marketing, the promotion carried out by the municipalities is (still) modest. Taking into account the artisanal nature of these initiatives themselves, the scarcity of human and financial resources in the municipalities where they are located, but their contribution to strengthening the regional identity and to tourism, institutional support, namely in terms of the promotion that is carried out and animation practices involving artisans, must be reinforced.

COVID‑19 has been one of the worst crises experienced by tourism industry. The reduction of inter‑ national arrivals in 2020 as compared to 2019 dropping 70%. Only two previous worldwide events have caused a global impact on the sector this century: the health crisis of SARS‑COV‑1 in 2003 and the economic depres‑ sion of 2008. The main goal of this research is to verify how travellers have always been mainly responsible for the spread of pathogens, reviewing infectious diseases that have caused changes in society or have generated real threats. An analogy has also been made with events that originated negative impacts on tourism, generat‑ ing risk for the traveller and directly affecting their behavior. A bibliographic review of the literature was ap‑ plied, where more than 90 historical and scientific sources were analysed in the fields of knowledge of history, geography, tourism and medicine. This research aims to provide the tourism industry with the ability to foresee and be able to make early decisions that allow it to better handle future similar crisis.

This paper aims at discussing how emblem studies can contribute to creating new literary tour‑ ism products, by questioning to what extent the selected places fit into the categories of literary destinations. It proposes drawing differentiated routes across Europe, curated by scientific knowledge, showing the po‑ tential of Alciato’s Emblemata (1531) as an inspiring resource for literary tourism. Based on the theoretical research of comparative studies, literary tourism and emblems, this case study shows how the hermeneutic process of decoding meanings can lead people (tourists, guides and stakeholders) to connect with artistic heritage by interpreting its symbolic language and value. The proposal explores a new perspective in liter‑ ary tourism products through emblem studies, fostering a deeper knowledge of the impact of active reading skills on cultural experiences. It considers that literary expertise encourages people to travel differently and reframes the concept of “emblematic places” on tourist routes.

Several studies have addressed the role played by the Spanish Wine Routes in boosting the competi‑ tiveness of a territory, increasing wine production, improving the quality of life of citizens and respecting the environment. However, to our knowledge, the impact of COVID‑19 on these wine routes has not been addressed in the academic literature. In order to overcome this research gap, this paper aims to analyse the impact of the pathogen on the supply and demand of tourist activities by analysing the evolution of the institution members of the Spanish wine routes and the economic impact of the 32 routes that make up this tourist product.

The present research proposes a methodology to analyse the degree of incidence of social media in the management of the online presence of the hotel sector in Mallorca. To this end, the Social Media Maturity Index of the Tourism Offer (IMMSOT) has been designed, which allows the situation of tourism organisations in social media to be analysed on the basis of three dimensions associated with their social media marketing strategy: engagement, channels/tools and destination. The results obtained show that the hotel sector in Mallorca makes little use of this type of tool. Moreover, differences have been observed in their use depending on the category and geographical location of the hotel establishments.

The economic, social and cultural importance of coffee growing in Brazil shows an expanding demand for tourist activities related to its production chain. Although coffee tourism has potential in rural and urban destinations, its offer lacks organized planning, structuring and information by the institutions related to coffee. Following previous studies from the perspective of rural producers, the objective of this article is to analyse the current context of coffee tourism in Brazil from the offer, through bibliographic and documentary research and survey application to Brazilian coffee producers between April and November 2021. In all, 87 valid responses were obtained, covering the five Brazilian macro‑regions. The results underline the plurality of activities offered on these properties, irregular presence in the coffee growing territories, concentration of structured supply in regions of traditional production and new occurrences in regions of recently valued quality production.
