Employees' proactive customer service performance can increase customers' perceived service quality and satisfaction, which is important for the long-term development of service enterprises. Ethical leadership can affect employees' attitude and behavior by showcasing ethical norms and improving employees' recognition of the organization. Using social identity theory and social cognitive theory, this study proposed that the relationship between ethical leadership and proactive customer service performance would be mediated by organizational identity and moderated by service climate. Utilizing structural equation modeling, we found a positive association between ethical leadership and proactive customer service performance, in which organizational identity acted as a mediator and service climate acted as a moderator. This study has expanded understanding of the antecedents of proactive customer service performance and filled a research gap on the relationship between service climate and proactive customer service performance. It offers a reference point and guidance for the management practice of service enterprises.

Using the two-dimensional conceptualization and process model of narcissism, the process model of narcissistic status pursuit, and high-cost value signaling theory, I explored the effects and mechanisms of narcissistic admiration and narcissistic rivalry on conspicuous consumption. A simulated consumption amount allocation task was completed by 324 participants. Results showed that narcissistic admiration was directly associated with conspicuous consumption, whereas narcissistic rivalry had no significant direct association with conspicuous consumption. Both narcissistic admiration and narcissistic rivalry reduced conspicuous consumption by increasing the level of prestige, and promoted conspicuous consumption by increasing individual dominance; however, the effect of narcissistic admiration on prestige was stronger than that of narcissistic rivalry, and the effect of narcissistic rivalry on dominance was stronger than that of narcissistic admiration. Both narcissistic admiration and narcissistic rivalry promoted conspicuous consumption through the chain mediating effect of dominance and status-seeking motivation.

I described the development of a country-level model to explore whether anxiety prevalence is positively associated with brand topic search interest (BTSI) through COVID-19 vaccination behavior. Secondary data for countrylevel anxiety prevalence and vaccination rate were collected for 60 countries. To assess BTSI, I extracted brand keywords from Google Trends' national search interests to compose four categories of country-level BTSI. The results indicated that people living in areas with higher rates of both vaccination and anxiety prevalence were significantly interested in searching for entertainment and sports brands. COVID-19 vaccination rate positively mediated the relationship between country-level anxiety prevalence and BTSI in tourism, video games, and sports categories. This study enhances understanding of consumers' brand topic search behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic and offers practical implications that will enable researchers and policymakers to explore cross-national BTSI through anxiety prevalence and vaccination rate.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is one of the two mainstream medical practices in China's healthcare system. Postgraduate students largely determine the development and advancement of TCM; therefore, their mental health and academic achievement are vital to their performance as practitioners. We conducted a longitudinal study to provide information on the changes in mental health before and after TCM training and the relationship between mental health and academic performance among postgraduate students. All participants were enrolled in full-time programs at a TCM university in China, and they completed our questionnaire in the first month of registering as postgraduate students and at the end of training 3 years later. The results showed that the rate of positive symptoms for mental distress among TCM postgraduates was higher (12.2%) at the beginning of the first postgraduate year than at the end of training (10.4%). Previous mental health status and comprehensive academic performance were predictors of mental health status at the second measurement. Implications of the findings are discussed.

With the infusion of information technology into society, incorporating technology into everyday life has become instrumental for older adults. Recent studies have emphasized the importance of adult children's information support in older adults' daily lives and filial responsibility expectations in the information era. However, few measurements of filial responsibility expectation include information expectation. We aimed to introduce a modified version of the Filial Responsibility Scale (FRS) for use with Chinese older adults. The results showed that the revised Chinese version of the FRS included four factors: emotional expectation, instrumental expectation, contact expectation, and information expectation. The overall reliability was good, structural validity was good, and criterion-related validity was satisfactory. Thus, the four-dimensional structure of the FRS is suitable for use in Chinese cultural settings and is an effective instrument to evaluate the filial expectation of older adults in the information era.

China has pledged to peak carbon emissions before 2030 and to strive to achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. To reveal the downward transfer of these state-level goals to the individual level, we conducted a study based on social cognitive theory and investigated the diffusion effect of media exposure. Specifically, we developed a model linking media exposure of carbon peak and carbon neutrality to citizens' low-carbon behavior. We tested our model in a survey of 650 citizens in Mainland China. We found that media exposure about the carbon peak and carbon neutrality was positively related to citizens' lowcarbon behavior, and this relationship was mediated by low-carbon awareness. These findings create a connection between media communication and lowcarbon behavior and provide the Chinese government with a long-term effective way to reduce residential carbon emissions.

Within the framework of Patterson et al.'s (1989) antisocial developmental model, this study explored the associations between harsh maternal discipline and adolescents' externalizing problem behaviors. We investigated the independent mediating effects of inhibitory control and deviant peer affiliation as well as the chain mediating effect of these variables. Participants were 367 adolescents who completed validated scales assessing maternal discipline, inhibitory control, deviant peer affiliation, and externalizing problem behaviors. The results showed that harsh maternal discipline affected adolescents' externalizing problem behaviors through the chain intermediary effect of inhibitory control and deviant peer affiliation. These findings facilitate understanding of the pathway of harsh maternal discipline on adolescents' externalizing problem behaviors. It is important to avoid harsh maternal discipline, establish harmonious parent–child relationships, avoid deviant peer affiliations, and achieve healthy physical and mental development of adolescents.

Although empathy is understood as a leadership trait, recognition of its worth in the operation of organizations is lacking. Our aim in this study was to examine the relationship between manager empathy and employee innovative behavior by introducing the mediating role of guanxi. Amos and SPSS were used to test the proposed model comprising data obtained from 275 employees and 112 of their managers in 10 Chinese companies. Results of structural equation modeling revealed that manager empathy was positively related to employee innovative behavior; moreover, guanxi played a partial mediating role in this relationship. In the context of guanxi culture in China, our findings provide new insights into how employee innovative behavior can be affected by manager empathy, and suggest that managers should improve their empathy skill and build positive guanxi with employees to enhance employees' innovative behavior.

We explored the effects and mechanisms of daily perceived stress on depression among Chinese adolescents. Participants were 1,153 junior high school students who completed The Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Checklist, the Positive and Negative Affect Scale-Children, the Socioeconomic Status Scale, the Emotional Control Scale, and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale. Results showed that daily stress was positively related to depression, and emotional balance partially mediated this relationship. The relationship between emotional balance and depression was moderated by emotional control and socioeconomic status, such that the impact of emotional balance on depression was stronger for adolescents with low emotional control and high socioeconomic status. We have revealed the behavioral mechanism underlying the association between daily stress and depression, enriching the literature on youth positive development. For those working with adolescents, to prevent depression the focus should be on maintaining daily emotional balance by improving emotional control, while paying attention to the emotional problems of adolescents with low socioeconomic status.
