This study aims to test and analyze the effect of proactive personality on organizational citizenship behavior, both directly and indirectly, through job satisfaction and affective commitment in correctional institutions in Indonesia. The sample of this study was 211 frontline officers in correctional institutions throughout Indonesia. Furthermore, the data were evaluated and analyzed with partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis to determine the acceptance or rejection of the hypothesis. Based on the test results, it was found that the direct effect of proactive personality on organizational citizenship behavior was not significant. However, this study shows that job satisfaction and affective commitment function as variables mediating proactive personality’s full influence on organizational citizenship behavior. This research has proved the role of job satisfaction and affective commitment mediation on the influence of proactive personality on organizational citizenship behavior. These results expand the knowledge expressed by previous research on the effect of personality on organizational citizenship behavior with job satisfaction and affective commitment mediation.

Green practices of companies related to Green supply chain management should also demonstrate their positive impact on companies’ performance. This paper’s goal is to investigate the impact of greening the supply chain on the competitiveness and economic performance of companies in the context of forest-based industry. The study empirically examines the relations between the greening of the phases of the supply chain, related environmental performance and companies’ competitiveness and economic performance. A questionnaire-based survey was performed and data collected among the 333 companies engaged in the forest-based sector in Slovakia to apply a structural equation model. The findings show that companies’ greening supply chain activities, emphasized by requirements for the environmental properties of purchased products and services, contribute to the improvement in environmental performance, which ultimately leads to improving their competitiveness and economic performance.

Research on positional segregation in sport focuses on mechanisms perpetuating discrepancies in integrated contexts, including in majority-minority sports. However, theoretical explanations for positional segregation should apply to other status groups, such as ethnicity, that may be more salient in monoracial or nearly monoracial settings. We use 2018 to 2019 data on 790 NHL players and executives along with descriptive models previously applied to questions of racial segregation in sport to evaluate if stereotypes have led to ethnicity-based differences in athletes’ outcomes, using on-ice positions, leadership positions, team management positions, and penalty minutes related to stereotypes in playing style. Results show no evidence for ethnic stacking nor barriers to player leadership in the NHL but substantial differences in team management positions and penalty minutes. Our findings illuminate the degree to which theories concerning racial stereotyping mechanisms might be extended to apply in monoracial settings.

As the backbone of Malaysia’s economy, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly those in the manufacturing industry, are spotlighted in times of crisis, considering the substantial risks that small businesses must overcome. SME manufacturers strive to drive productivity and enhance competitiveness amid ongoing global challenges. Sustainable manufacturing performance is a key indicator in the manufacturing industry for reviving SMEs in the recovery stage of global crises. With continuous technological advancement, industry 4.0 competencies can have significant influence on expanding the evolution of contemporary manufacturing from theoretical industry 4.0 concepts to real-world applications. There is a gap in the literature regarding the comprehensive investigation of industry 4.0 competencies collectively and their direct impact on sustainable manufacturing performance, as well as the potential moderating influence of rational culture. The research question addressed in this paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of prevailing studies on the relationship between industry 4.0 competencies and sustainable manufacturing performance. This study references the Global Reporting Initiative and identifies relevant industry 4.0 competencies, conducting a systematic literature review to investigate the relationship between industry 4.0 competencies and sustainable manufacturing performance and the role of rational culture as a moderating variable. Examining research published between 2013 and 2023, only 33 documents satisfy the eligibility criteria. This paper carries implications for SME manufacturers and government in Malaysia, highlighting the importance of recognizing and implementing appropriate industry 4.0 competencies to improve sustainable manufacturing performance and reap associated benefits.

This study analyzes the factors influencing public support for economic sanctions in the Bucharest Nine (B9) states in the context of the war in Ukraine (2022) and the measures taken by the European Union (EU) against Russia. Operating data from the Flash Eurobarometer 506 (2022) survey, this work assesses the influence of public awareness, trust in the sender alliance, emotional resonance, solidarity with the aggressed state, and targeted sanctions on public opinion across these nine EU member states. Multiple regression analyses demonstrate that a multifaceted approach, incorporating various dimensions, yields a more comprehensive understanding of public support for economic sanctions. The findings of this study emphasize that the most significant factors driving public support include sanctions imposed on Russian oligarchs, closer military cooperation within the EU, and military equipment provided to Ukraine. It can be concluded that the findings of this study reveal that the citizens of B9 countries have a pragmatic rather than an emotional approach when referring to both the conflict in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions against Russia.

With the development of artificial intelligence technology, virtual live streamers emerge in the field of live streaming e-commerce. Previous studies have identified how human live streamers affect online sales performance. However, little is known about the virtual live streamer. Can virtual live streamers play a role in e-commerce as well as their human counterparts? The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of virtual live streamers on online sales performance from the perspective of source credibility. The perceived credibility of virtual live streamers can modify viewer behavior in the virtual live streaming room. The relevant data is thus generated and recorded by the e-commerce platform. We collected data from 300 virtual live streaming rooms in the e-commerce platform known as Taobao.com. Using the behavior data, a multiple regression model was built to empirically study the relationship between the characteristics of virtual live streamers and online sales performance. The results showed that virtual live streamers’ characteristics of trustworthiness, attractiveness, and expertise had a positive effect on online sales performance, whereas the characteristic of interactivity had an adverse effect. This study provides insight into the virtual live streamer. Virtual live streamers are still unable to interact with viewers in a human live streamer manner. Marketing managers should improve virtual live streamers to meet viewers’ hedonic shopping motivations in the future.

A novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, has spread widely throughout the world. To reduce the spread of infection, children are prevented from going to school and have fewer opportunities for in-person communication. Such changes in the everyday lives of children might influence their socio-emotional behaviors; however, the whole picture of the possible impact was not well known. This study examined socio-emotional behaviors of Japanese children (aged 4–9) during the pandemic and compared the data to the data before the pandemic. Children’s socio-emotional behaviors in an everyday context was assessed using the parent-reported Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. The results indicated that during the pandemic, children were more prosocial and experienced more problems in their peer relationships, but no differences were found in emotional symptoms, conduct problems, hyperactivity between before and during the pandemic. The findings suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic has mixed impacts on children’s socio-emotional behaviors, implying that this topic should be considered in broader and fuller perspectives.

Examining the relationship between renewable and non-renewable energy sources and economic growth is crucial for designing sustainable growth policies in the context of global sustainability efforts. Previous studies relying on frequentist inference have faced challenges in disentangling the individual effects of these energy sources on economic growth due to their high degree of correlation, often leading to biased results. The Bayesian approach offers an alternative estimation method to address this multicollinearity issue. This study aims to demonstrate one of the advantages of the Bayesian hierarchical framework in handling multicollinearity by using a sample of 72 countries to evaluate the distinct impacts of renewable and non-renewable energy on economic growth. By incorporating specific priors into a Bayesian model to guide the estimation process, the findings confirm that both energy sources play significant roles in driving economic growth, with renewable energy sources exhibiting a comparatively weaker effect. These results align with theoretical expectations, indicating that renewables make a limited contribution to economic growth due to high investment costs, intermittency issues, and supply chain constraints. This study establishes a solid foundation for sustainable growth policy formulation by providing robust evidence.

With growing numbers of workers relying on the digital workplace to get work done, attention is increasingly focused on the well-being impacts of digital working. This study explored the stress, burnout and mental health implications of employees’ digital workplace experience. Using the Job Demands-Resources model as a theoretical foundation, 142 workers were surveyed about their experiences of dark side of digital working effects (stress, overload, anxiety, and Fear of Missing Out) and well-being (exhaustion and mental health). Results from regression analyses indicated that the fear of missing out on information (IFoMO) is a risk factor for employee mental health and, along with information overload (IO), may lead to greater exhaustion. Additionally, both IFoMO and IO elevate digital workplace stress, further impacting well-being negatively. The results suggest that organizations need to optimize the flow of work-related information in the digital workplace and support employees to leverage information effectively.

This study addresses the compelling need for emerging-market business organizations to excel in turbulent environments. Drawing upon a dynamic capability framework, we delve into organizational mindfulness, resilience, and performance dynamics within emerging-market contexts. Through a moderated mediation model, we investigate the impact of organizational mindfulness on organizational performance, which is mediated by organizational resilience. Additionally, we explore the moderating role of digitalized management accounting systems (MASs) use in enhancing the relationship between organizational mindfulness and organizational resilience. Utilizing partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), we analyze data from a two-phase survey involving 441 managers in Vietnamese organizations. Results confirm organizational resilience as a vital mediator between organizational mindfulness and organizational performance, and digitalized MAS use positively moderates the effect of organizational mindfulness on organizational resilience. This research adds to the literature on the interface between mindfulness and resilience and informs practical strategies for navigating uncertainty. By studying the interplay among mindfulness, resilience, and digitalization, we provide guidance for emerging-market organizations aiming to respond to environmental turbulence successfully.
