The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of family socioeconomic background on university rankings, efforts in VETs, and job satisfaction of university graduates. The family socioeconomic background and mediation potential, which are independent variables, are identified through university rankings to identify mechanisms that affect job satisfaction that may appear to college graduates, and political and practical implications for strengthening job satisfaction are presented. An analysis was conducted using panel data from the Graduate Occupational Mobility Survey, obtained from the Korea Employment Information Service. The data analysis was performed using SPSS21.0 and AMOS22.0. Consequently, the following conclusions were drawn. First, the family socioeconomic background significantly impacts job satisfaction. Second, the influence of family socioeconomic background on job satisfaction is further amplified with university rankings as a parameter. Third, the level of influence of family socioeconomic background on job satisfaction did not change according to the characteristics of VET participation as a mediator. The threat of human labor replaced by technology, the possibility of creating new industries and new jobs, and the diversification of employment types such as platform labor are accelerating with the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Our study of the subjective perception of individual occupations could provide a driving force for maintaining jobs in the long run and leading to success in this changing labor market.

This study examines contemporary migration patterns in the Hirakud Command Area, an agriculturally prosperous region in Eastern India. Traditionally, internal migration in India has been associated with factors such as backwardness, agrarian distress, and food insecurity. However, this research challenges this perspective by uncovering a growing trend of migration among the upper socio-economic strata. Contrary to popular belief, present study shows an increasing trend of migration among the educated, unmarried male youths belong to the upper strata of the socio-economic hierarchy, guided by their aspirations, accessibility, and ability of migrants rather than merely by hunger and distress. By highlighting these findings, this study urges a departure from conventional economic determinants and suggests a broader understanding of migration dynamics. It reveals that individuals from marginalized backgrounds are less likely to migrate, while migrants from higher caste-class categories possess better positions, income, and occupational status in their migration destinations. These insights contribute to a more nuanced comprehension of contemporary migration in the Hirakud Command Area. It underscores the importance of considering non-economic factors in migration analysis and calls for tailored policy interventions that address the specific needs and aspirations of different migrant groups.

This study investigates the predictive power of sentiment metrics concerning the volatility of tourism-related stocks listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) during recent crises. We employed univariate and multivariate GARCH-family econometric models to analyze daily data collected from March 2020 to April 2023. The data is categorized into two periods: A (COVID-19 until February 2022) and B (the vote of no-confidence motion until April 2023). The findings indicate that Market Sentiment (MS) plays a more significant role than individual sentiment in predicting stock price volatility and negatively impacts return volatility. During period A, the Fear Index (FI) and in B, economic policy uncertainty (EPU) were identified as factors contributing to increased fluctuation in tourism-related stocks. Additionally, MS exhibited a heightened level of bearishness compared to the COVID-19 era. The multivariate BEKK-GARCH analysis revealed that MS past volatility negatively spillover onto the current conditional volatility of PSX firms. This highlights the paramount importance of MS in understanding stock price fluctuations in the PSX. Interestingly, the technology sector exhibited lower sensitivity across the analysis. This study provides valuable insights for decision-makers by elucidating the principles of behavioral finance theory within the context of the PSX. They should prioritize long-term strategies to institutionalize investors, enhance their emotional intelligence, and mitigate psychological biases in the market.

The literature on social media (SM) use in government organizations primarily focuses on service delivery, publicity, and public relations. But, how a public sector security organization’s use of social media is related to electoral politics in a country is least understood. This paper conceptualizes the Pakistani military’s use of digital media, drawing on the theory of organizational impression management (IM). It further explores the impact of military-related social media activists (SMAs) on electoral politics in Pakistan. Structural equation modeling was used to test the conceptual model, demonstrating that the citizens’ connectedness with military-related SMAs is significant and positively associated with their voting realignments during the 2018 elections in Pakistan. The results revealed that the citizens’ greater online political participation increases their likelihood of connecting with military-related SMAs. On the contrary, their engagement with the offline political process reduces the chances of consuming the military’s impression management content over social media.

English as a foreign language (EFL) students’ lack of engagement directly affects their learning outcomes, and it has captured the attention of many researchers. Factors affecting EFL students’ participation may be differed by student and lecturer perceptions, which will cause differences in these stakeholders’ solutions to classroom difficulties. Accordingly, this study measured Non-English major (NEM) students and EFL lecturers’ perceptions of factors hindering students’ participation in English-speaking classes. About 156 NEM freshmen and 14 lecturers responded to a 35-item questionnaire containing five primary clusters: linguistic, cognitive, affective, pedagogical, and social-cultural factors. The study further employed semi-structured interviews with six students and four lecturers. The results found some significant differences between lecturer and student perceptions. On the one hand, the students did not consider the large class size, insufficient time for in-class practice, and students’ tendency to remain silent as hindering their class participation. On the other hand, the lecturers considered vital barriers: students’ insufficient proficiency, teachers’ poor lessons, or teacher-student relationship. Based on the findings, teacher professional development activities are expected to be one of the solutions to EFL students’ insufficient engagement in English-speaking classes.

Brand Authenticity plays a crucial role in marketing activities. Over the past two decades, considerable progress has been made in the academic research on Brand Authenticity. However, a more comprehensive investigation on this subject still needs to be done. This paper aims to conduct a literature review using a bibliometric approach to summarize articles published between 2003 and 2023. The aim is to identify the publication trends, key authors, pivotal literature, significant journals, research clusters, intellectual base, and topic trends. We intend to establish a foundation for future agendas by consolidating existing achievements and identifying gaps. We employed two analysis tools, VOSviewer and Bibliometrix, to analyze and visualize 880 selected articles. The result indicates an overall increasing trend in publications; several authoritative scholars have emerged, and international collaborations are extensive. Several knowledge groups have also been formed, focusing on tourism, food and retail, and marketing/management. There need to be more significant breakthroughs, prompting the exploration of new topics to expand the scope of brand authenticity research. Some potential areas of investigation include exploring more antecedents and consequences variables, cross-cultural marketing, specific product authenticity, and the impact of corporate social responsibility on perceived authenticity. By addressing these directions, we can advance the understanding of brand authenticity and enrich the existing knowledge on this topic, thereby contributing to its future development.

The development of mangrove forest environmental services plays a crucial role in human health, economic development, and the security of countries worldwide. This study aims to establish and validate a model for assessing the factors influencing the willingness-to-pay for mangrove forest environmental services. The proposed model comprises four key factors: attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavior control, and environmental knowledge. Data were collected by surveying 235 individuals from various households in Phu Long commune, Vietnam. The Partial Least Squares—Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) methodology was employed for data analysis. The research findings reveal that perceived behavior control significantly impacted residents’ willingness-to-pay, followed by attitude, environmental knowledge, and subjective norms. Furthermore, certain demographic characteristics such as gender and family size mediate the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Based on the obtained results, several policy recommendations are put forward.

With the proliferation of corpora, various syntactic analysis methodologies have been developed. However, syntactic analysis of Chinese sentences demands a theory that focuses more on word order and the interaction between content and function words, which is satisfied by pattern grammar theory. This study investigates the effectiveness of pattern grammar theory in the analysis of Chinese sentence structure and explores the linguistic characteristics of official documents by establishing a description system for structural complexity in Chinese. Statistical methods such as skewness, kurtosis, and correlation analyses were employed to evaluate the system’s performance. The findings confirm the effectiveness of pattern grammar in analyzing Chinese sentence structure by showing that it can accurately reflect the unique properties of Chinese official documents, such as the preference for fixed collocations, declarative sentences, and flat structures. Based on the above findings, this study provides a semantically compatible and innovative theoretical system for analyzing Chinese sentence structures.

This review aimed to identify and critically assess tools and recommendations (collectively referred to as resources) advising on the use of qualitative data to inform epidemic response in low and middle income countries (LMICs). In doing so, we seek to improve the quality of these resources and ultimately support better integration of qualitative data in epidemic response initiatives. Literature were identified through three academic research databases and one gray literature repository. The search was conducted in April 2020 and updated in February 2021. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis checklist was adhered to. Furthermore, quality assessment tools were used for both academic (the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool) and gray literature (the AACODS checklist standing for authority, accuracy, coverage, objectivity, date, and significance). The searches yielded 4,152 articles, of which 65 met the inclusion criteria. Identified tools and recommendations rarely provided sufficient information on how they should be implemented, who their intended audiences were, how they might be adapted across contexts and whether they might be useful to researchers on a longer or shorter timeframe. A significant amount of work remains to further develop the resources available to guide the use of qualitative data within the context of epidemic outbreaks in LMICs. Key considerations and implications based on the review outcomes are discussed.

In doing so, we seek to improve the quality of these resources and ultimately support better integration of qualitative data in epidemic response initiatives. Literature were identified through three academic research databases and one gray literature repository. The search was conducted in April 2020 and updated in February 2021. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis checklist was adhered to. Furthermore, quality assessment tools were used for both academic (the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool) and gray literature (the AACODS checklist standing for authority, accuracy, coverage, objectivity, date, and significance). The searches yielded 4,152 articles, of which 65 met the inclusion criteria. Identified tools and recommendations rarely provided sufficient information on how they should be implemented, who their intended audiences were, how they might be adapted across contexts and whether they might be useful to researchers on a longer or shorter timeframe. A significant amount of work remains to further develop the resources available to guide the use of qualitative data within the context of epidemic outbreaks in LMICs. Key considerations and implications based on the review outcomes are discussed.","PeriodicalId":48167,"journal":{"name":"Sage Open","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2024-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141946923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
