In order to understand the application of computer technology in financialinvestment, the author proposes a research on the application of computertechnology in financial investment. The author used user transaction data froma certain online payment platform as a sample, with a total of 284908 samplerecords, including 593 positive samples (fraud samples) and 285214 negativesamples (normal samples), to conduct an empirical study on user fraud detectionbased on data mining. In this process, facing the problem of imbalancedpositive and negative samples, the author proposes to use the Under Samplingmethod to construct sub samples, and then perform feature scaling, outlierdetection, feature screening and other processing on the sub samples. Then, four classification models, logistic regression, K-nearest neighbor algorithm, decision tree, and support vector machine, are trained on the processed subsamples. The prediction results of the four models are evaluated, and theresults show that the recall rate, Fl score, and AUC value of the logisticregression model are the highest, indicating that the detection method based oncomputer data mining is practical and feasible.

Nowadays, it becomes a common practice to capture some data of sports gameswith devices such as GPS sensors and cameras and then use the data to performvarious analyses on sports games, including tactics discovery, similar gameretrieval, performance study, etc. While this practice has been conducted tomany sports such as basketball and soccer, it remains largely unexplored on thebilliards sports, which is mainly due to the lack of publicly availabledatasets. Motivated by this, we collect a dataset of billiards sports, whichincludes the layouts (i.e., locations) of billiards balls after performingbreak shots, called break shot layouts, the traces of the balls as a result ofstrikes (in the form of trajectories), and detailed statistics and performanceindicators. We then study and develop techniques for three tasks on thecollected dataset, including (1) prediction and (2) generation on the layoutsdata, and (3) similar billiards layout retrieval on the layouts data, which canserve different users such as coaches, players and fans. We conduct extensiveexperiments on the collected dataset and the results show that our methodsperform effectively and efficiently.

This study presents an innovative application of the Taguchi design ofexperiment method to optimize the structure of an Artificial Neural Network(ANN) model for the prediction of elastic properties of short fiber reinforcedcomposites. The main goal is to minimize the required computational effort forhyperparameter optimization while enhancing the prediction accuracy. Utilizinga robust design of experiment framework, the structure of an ANN model isoptimized. This essentially is the identification of a combination ofhyperparameters that yields an optimal predictive accuracy with the fewestalgorithmic runs, thereby achieving a significant reduction of the requiredcomputational effort. Our findings demonstrate that the Taguchi method not onlystreamlines the hyperparameter tuning process but also could substantiallyimprove the algorithm's performance. These results underscore the potential ofthe Taguchi method as a powerful tool for optimizing machine learningalgorithms, particularly in scenarios where computational resources arelimited. The implications of this study are far-reaching, offering insights forfuture research in the optimization of different algorithms for improvedaccuracies and computational efficiencies.

Inferring causal links or subgraphs corresponding to a specific phenotype orlabel based solely on measured data is an important yet challenging task, whichis also different from inferring causal nodes. While Graph Neural Network (GNN)Explainers have shown potential in subgraph identification, existing methodswith GNN often offer associative rather than causal insights. This lack oftransparency and explainability hinders our understanding of their results andalso underlying mechanisms. To address this issue, we propose a novel method ofcausal link/subgraph inference, called CIDER: Counterfactual-InvariantDiffusion-based GNN ExplaineR, by implementing both counterfactual anddiffusion implementations. In other words, it is a model-agnostic andtask-agnostic framework for generating causal explanations based on acounterfactual-invariant and diffusion process, which provides not only causalsubgraphs due to counterfactual implementation but reliable causal links due tothe diffusion process. Specifically, CIDER is first formulated as an inferencetask that generatively provides the two distributions of one causal subgraphand another spurious subgraph. Then, to enhance the reliability, we furthermodel the CIDER framework as a diffusion process. Thus, using the causalsubgraph distribution, we can explicitly quantify the contribution of eachsubgraph to a phenotype/label in a counterfactual manner, representing eachsubgraph's causal strength. From a causality perspective, CIDER is aninterventional causal method, different from traditional association studies orobservational causal approaches, and can also reduce the effects of unobservedconfounders. We evaluate CIDER on both synthetic and real-world datasets, whichall demonstrate the superiority of CIDER over state-of-the-art methods.

Fashion is a powerful force in the modern world. It is one of the mostaccessible means of self-expression, thereby playing a significant role in oursociety. Yet, it is plagued by well-documented issues of waste and human rightsabuses. Fast fashion in particular, characterized by its disposable nature, contributes extensively to environmental degradation and CO$_2$ emissions, surpassing the combined outputs of France, Germany, and the UK, but itseconomic contributions have somewhat shielded it from criticism. In this paper,we examine the demand for fast fashion, with a focus on Spain. We explore theindividual decision-making process involved in choosing to buy fast fashion andthe role of awareness regarding working conditions, environmental consequences, and education on sustainable fashion in influencing consumer behavior. Byemploying Agent-Based Modeling, we investigate the factors influencing garmentconsumption patterns and how shifts in public opinion can be achieved throughpeer pressure, social media influence, and government interventions. Our studyrevealed that government interventions are pivotal, with the state's campaignssetting the overall tone for progress, although its success is conditioned bysocial media and polarization levels of the population. Importantly, the statedoes not need to adopt an extremely proactive stance or continue the campaignsindefinitely to achieve optimal results, as excessive interventions yielddiminishing returns.

The wheel-soil interaction has great impact on the dynamics of off-roadvehicles in terramechanics applications. The Soil Contact Model (SCM), whichanchors an empirical method to characterize the frictional contact between awheel and soil, has been widely used in off-road vehicle dynamics simulationsbecause it quickly produces adequate results for many terramechanicsapplications. The SCM approach calls for a set of model parameters that areobtained via a bevameter test. This test is expensive and time consuming tocarry out, and in some cases difficult to set up, e.g., in extraterrestrialapplications. We propose an approach to address these concerns by conductingthe bevameter test in simulation, using a model that captures the physics ofthe actual experiment with high fidelity. To that end, we model the bevametertest rig as a multibody system, while the dynamics of the soil is capturedusing a discrete element model (DEM). The multibody dynamics--soil dynamicsco-simulation is used to replicate the bevameter test, producing high-fidelityground truth test data that is subsequently used to calibrate the SCMparameters within a Bayesian inference framework. To test the accuracy of theresulting SCM terramechanics, we run single wheel and full rover simulationsusing both DEM and SCM terrains. The SCM results match well with those producedby the DEM solution, and the simulation time for SCM is two to three orders ofmagnitude lower than that of DEM. All simulations in this work are performedusing Chrono, an open-source, publicly available simulator. The scripts andmodels used are available in a public repository for reproducibility studiesand further research.

Real-world physical systems, like composite materials and porous media, exhibit complex heterogeneities and multiscale nature, posing significantcomputational challenges. Computational homogenization is useful for predictingmacroscopic properties from the microscopic material constitution. It involvesdefining a representative volume element (RVE), solving governing equations, and evaluating its properties such as conductivity and elasticity. Despite itseffectiveness, the approach can be computationally expensive. This studyproposes a tensor-train (TT)-based asymptotic homogenization method to addressthese challenges. By deriving boundary value problems at the microscale andexpressing them in the TT format, the proposed method estimates materialproperties efficiently. We demonstrate its validity and effectiveness throughnumerical experiments applying the proposed method for homogenization ofthermal conductivity and elasticity in two- and three-dimensional materials, offering a promising solution for handling the multiscale nature ofheterogeneous systems.

Cracking Elements Method (CEM) is a numerical tool to simulate quasi-brittlefractures, which does not need remeshing, nodal enrichment, or complicatedcrack tracking strategy. The cracking elements used in the CEM can beconsidered as a special type of finite element implemented in the standardfinite element frameworks. One disadvantage of CEM is that it uses nonlinearinterpolation of the displacement field (Q8 or T6 elements), introducing morenodes and consequent computing efforts than the cases with elements usinglinear interpolation of the displacement field. Aiming at solving this problem,we propose a simple hybrid linear and non-linear interpolation finite elementfor adaptive cracking elements method in this work. A simple strategy isproposed for treating the elements with $p$ edge nodes $pinleft[0,nright]$and $n$ being the edge number of the element. Only a few codes are needed. Then, by only adding edge and center nodes on the elements experiencingcracking and keeping linear interpolation of the displacement field for theelements outside the cracking domain, the number of total nodes was reducedalmost to half of the case using the conventional cracking elements. Numericalinvestigations prove that the new approach inherits all the advantages of CEMwith greatly improved computing efficiency.
