Wave energy converters are frequently subjected to cyclic fatigue loads, making them prone to structural failure. This study presents a comprehensive design for reliability analysis of buoy structures used in ocean energy converters. A finite element model (FEM) was developed using ABAQUS to evaluate the effects of different materials—linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) versus high-density polyethylene (HDPE)—as well as variations in rib spacing and structural thickness under uniform pressure conditions. The analysis considered configurations with 3, 5, and 7 ribs, and wall thicknesses of 0.5, 0.7, and 1 inch. Results indicated that increasing the number of ribs and wall thickness significantly reduces deflection and von Mises stress, enhancing structural stability. HDPE demonstrated superior strength and lower deflection compared to LLDPE, although with reduced ductility. This study provides critical insights into optimizing buoy design parameters to improve the structural performance and durability of wave energy converter buoys, ensuring their reliability and longevity in harsh marine environments.

This study investigates the role of information governance in mitigating financial crime risks in stablecoin transactions. Using a variety of analytical techniques, including simple linear regression, sentiment analysis with NLP tools, logistic regression, and machine learning models, the research evaluates the impact of information governance on innovation, user trust, financial crimes, and the effectiveness of combined compliance measures. The findings indicate that strict information governance regulations reduce innovation but enhance market stability and user trust. Robust governance correlates strongly with increased user adoption, while higher anonymity features in stablecoins are linked to a higher incidence of financial crimes. Integrating KYC/AML compliance with transaction monitoring significantly improves the detection and prevention of financial crimes compared to standalone approaches. These insights provide valuable guidance for policymakers, regulatory authorities, and financial institutions to develop strategies that balance innovation with enhanced security and compliance in the stablecoin market.

Lawn keeping has been a major issue in campus environment due to rising cost of diesel fuel and lack of man power to operate both tractor-mounted and motorized lawn mowers. An automated solar-powered robotic lawn mower was developed in this research work to solve this problem. The components of the mower include a frame, three caster wheels, two gear motors which provide the forward motion, a 12v DC cutter motor which rotates the cutting blade, 2202mAH limpo battery for power supply, a 16W solar panel for charging the battery, a charge controller, a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ microcontroller which controls the motors, and a VNC mobile app for setting inputs for control. The mover was locally fabricated at the Agricultural Engineering workshop of The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, and it was tested in an open field. The effective field capacity and field efficiency of the machine were found to be 0.13 m2/s and 88% respectively. The total cost of producing the mower was 185,800 naira. The mower is recommended for large scale production and for usage on campuses.

This study investigates the impact of oil contamination on the compaction characteristics of soil, specifically lateritic soil samples from Bori Local Government Area in Rivers State, Nigeria. The research focuses on understanding how varying degrees of oil pollution affect soil's compaction behavior, crucial for civil engineering applications. Compaction tests, including the standard Proctor test, were conducted on both uncontaminated and oil-contaminated soil samples. The results indicate that up to 2% oil addition improves compaction, reducing the optimum moisture content and increasing the maximum dry density. Beyond 4% oil content, no significant enhancement in compaction was observed, and higher oil percentages led to saturation and expulsion of oil, based on visual inspection it appears to negatively affect the soil strength. These findings are essential for engineering projects in oil spill regions, providing insights into effective soil compaction strategies and the potential use of oil-contaminated soils in construction.

The use of recycled waste tires and construction and demolition wastes as aggregates in concrete after treatment as required not only contributes to environmental sustainability, but also alleviates the growing demand for natural aggregates in concrete production. This paper focuses on the mechanical properties and frost resistance of rubberized recycled concrete, including the effects of rubber and recycled aggregates on the mechanical properties and frost resistance of concrete, as well as measures to improve the mechanical properties and frost resistance of rubberized recycled concrete. Existing studies show that the mechanical properties of concrete gradually decrease with the increase of rubber and recycled aggregate admixture. Due to the high number of defects in recycled aggregate, it has a negative effect on the frost resistance of concrete. Rubber particles have air-entraining properties and can be incorporated into concrete to enhance the frost resistance of concrete. The frost resistance of rubber recycled concrete can be improved by mixing appropriate amount of fiber, rubber or rubber modification treatment.

Path planning algorithm is one of the core algorithms for automatic guided vehicle(AGV)to complete the autonomous task of intelligent workshop. The research status of grid method and Viewable method in environment modeling at home and abroad is described. The research results of traditional path search algorithms such as artificial potential field method, Dijstra algorithm and A* algorithm are analyzed and compared with intelligent algorithms such as particle swarm optimization algorithm, ant colony algorithm and genetic algorithm. The analysis finds that in the face of complex workshop environment, multi-factor influence and complex obstacles, some tasks are not completed or work overtime depending on the traditional algorithm. Therefore, starting from the algorithm improvement, in order to improve the operational efficiency and efficient obstacle avoidance of AGV, the fusion of intelligent algorithm and traditional algorithm will become the focus of research. Finally, combined with the existing problems in the current AGV path planning research, the research trend of intelligent development and integrated development is prospected. In future research, improvements in algorithm efficiency and integration with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence can be considered.

Numerous researchers have recognized environmental contamination as a potential danger to both the ecosystem and the general population's health. However, studies have shown that air pollution is a substantial contributor to a variety of respiratory conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), shortness of breath, respiratory infections, and other similar conditions. To counteract this, however, the formulation and execution of public health policies might be of assistance in the fight against environmental pollution. In this study, the researchers investigated the ways in which air pollution, being a kind of environmental contamination, leads to problems in public health. In light of this, we reviewed the assessment of surveillance and monitoring, the consequences of human exposure to air pollution on public health, the influence of environmental pollution on social behaviors, as well as the ethical and legal implications of environmental contaminations. The study came to the conclusion that it is imperative to initiate possible action, since reducing the amount of air pollutants and chemicals in the environment may assist in avoiding further consequences of environmental degradation as well as limit the amount of harm done to human health. As a result, it is necessary to include monitoring of ambient PM2.5 and other air pollutants over a long length of time at a number of places that are typical of important metropolitan activities. These areas include trash dumps, transportation, and manufacturing facilities.

The use of ultrasound is a very effective and suitable process for the degradation of harmful dyes. In order to elucidate the degradation mechanism, numerous studies have examined the breakdown of dye molecules in aqueous medium with different additives using ultrasonic irradiation. In this review, the basic principle of sonochemical treatment and the effect of different parameters such as pH, irradiation time, different additives like NaCl, Na2SO4, CCl4, H2O2, ZnO nanoparticle etc. on sonolytic degradation of the organic dyes are discussed. From the studies it is concluded that the acidic condition is favorable for most of the dye degradation. Assessing the results of earlier studies we have also found that the aforementioned additives aided the degradation of dye molecules depending on their amount used in sonication with relatively higher or lower extent. Therefore, dye molecule from environment especially from waste water can be effectively reduced by using sonochemical irradiation process.
