This study examines how primary-level preservice teachers (PSTs) in an online asynchronous course (co-)constructed and (re)negotiated their professional identities through the use of metaphors in online asynchronous courses in the U.S. By using metaphors and narrating their lived experiences in relation to their chosen metaphors, participants expressed their desired and feared identities. Their metaphorical expression of identities reflects the complex interplay between participants' construction of their possible selves within the temporal, social, and spatial context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Individual and collaborative metaphor-based reflections provided a reflective space for PSTs to explore professional becoming and future possibilities at the interface between their sense of agency and their situated temporal, spatial, and social context, even within asynchronous online teacher education courses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT In the academic year of 2004–2005, the Spanish region of Madrid began to implement a bilingual educational programme (MBP hereinafter) in state schools. One of the objectives of this programme was to make the study of a foreign language (English) accessible to students from economically disadvantaged families who cannot afford private foreign language classes. Our study aims to evaluate whether students from a disadvantaged socio-economic background really do have the same probability of participating in the MBP as their more privileged peers. The analysis use the PISA 2015 database which corresponds to the representative sample of the Community of Madrid in Spain, with added administrative information supplied by the Madrid Regional Ministry of Education concerning the identification of bilingual and non-bilingual schools. Using these data, we estimate a logit model directed at identifying which factors explain the choice by students of whether to attend a bilingual state school. The results obtained reveal that the probability of attending a bilingual school is higher for students belonging to socio-economically and culturally better-off households. This suggests that the MBP could be fostering segregation within the state education sector in Madrid.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on many sectors around the world. The economies of countries on all continents have suffered the consequences of the changes that have occurred since the beginning of the pandemic, and the trade sector, as one of the most important at the national and international level, has changed a lot. In Bulgaria, the various units of the wholesale and retail chain have taken measures to ensure the supply of products in all units of the chain. In this article, the author evaluates the changes in the trade sector, in particular the retail companies, in Bulgaria after the beginning of the pandemic and proposes solutions for the management of different types of risk to ensure the normal functioning of economic entities in the event of unpredictable risks such as Covid-19.

The main goal of the research is to interpret conceptual ideas about the digitalization of the grocery retail business, considering the change in consumer behavior regarding online shopping and, on this basis, to outline the emerging dependencies. The set research tasks correspond to the goal. The measurement of the manifest dependencies is achieved by the method of linear regression and correlation. Respondents in the study are individuals from the 27-member states of the European Union. The data for their budgets is for the period 2016 – 2021. The obtained results allow assessing the impact of digitalization on the change in consumer behavior in the online grocery shopping process.

Political influence is increasingly important in the context of management of sales organisations. A growing number of modern companies are embracing a flat organisational structure, getting rid of layers in the management pyramid, which prompts and necessitates the distribution of power. Allocation of power with others strengthens all members of the organization. There are four dimensions to successful empowerment: meaning, competence, self-determination, and impact. Alternatively, empowerment is a matter of degree and can be classified in two terms: content and context of work. Discussed are three main types of sales representatives, divided according to their main motivators. Understanding the four dimensions, two terms, and three types of sales representatives can be a good marker for the practices of sales managers when using political influence.
