Intrapersonal Intelligence and Decision-Making Ability of Higher Secondary School Students 高中生的个人智力与决策能力

The study aims to explore the level and relationship between intrapersonal intelligence and the decision-making ability of higher secondary school students. The study employed a survey-based quantitative method. The sample includes 500 higher secondary level school students in West Bengal, India. The investigators applied two self-made questionnaires, one for measuring intrapersonal intelligence and another for measuring decision-making ability. The results reveal that gender (3.22, p<0.01) and stream (4.05, p<0.001) have significant influences on the intrapersonal intelligence of the higher secondary school students. Decision-making Ability has a statistically significant and positive association with intrapersonal intelligence (0.42, p<0.001). Results show that all the four dimensions of intrapersonal intelligence, i.e., self-awareness (2.871, p<0.01), self-retrospection (2.540, p<0.01), self-regard (5.265, p<0.001), and self-adaptation (4.983, p<0.001) significantly increase the decision- making ability of the higher secondary school students.

Inculcation and Promotion of Values Through Life Skills Education at the School Level 通过学校层面的生活技能教育灌输和促进价值观

Life skills education helps in the development of values among students at the school level to reach their full potential and prepare them for the challenges of everyday life. In this context, the entire process of education should be value-oriented and lead to skill development. The purpose of value inculcation through life skills education is to develop an integrated and balanced personality in the child. The study throws light on the ten core life skills of the World Health Organisation that are self-awareness, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking, decision making, problem-solving, effective communication, interpersonal relationship, coping with stress and coping with emotions. The paper also highlights various teaching methods to instil values through life skills in a classroom such as class discussions, brainstorming, case studies etc.

Home Environment of Adolescents Studying in Eighth Class in Schools of Jammu District 查谟地区学校八年级青少年家庭环境研究

The present study attempts to examine the home environment of adolescents studying in eighth class in relation to some selected variables. The study is quantitative in nature. Sample of the study consists of 200 adolescents of eighth class (100 males and 100 females) randomly selected from 5 government and 5 private schools of Jammu. Home Environment Inventory (HEI) developed by Misra (1989) has been used for collection of data. Results show that adolescents from rural residential background have perceived their home environment as better in comparison to adolescents from urban residential background. However, there were no significant gender and type of school differences in the perceived home environment of adolescents studying in eighth class. The combined effect of gender and type of school on perceived home environment was found to be significant in favour of female students studying in government schools in comparison to private schools. Significant combined effect was obtained among gender, residential background and school type on perceived home environment of adolescents.

Attitude of Secondary School Students Towards Science in Relation to Academic Achievement, Gender and Type of School 中学生对科学的态度与学业成绩、性别及学校类型的关系

The study aims to assess the students’ attitude towards science in selected government and private schools at the secondary level in the Jammu district. A sample comprises 200 students from 5 private and government secondary schools of the Jammu district. The Science Attitude Scale (SAS) developed by Grewal (2012) was used to assess the students’ attitude towards science. The results show that the students in both government and private schools have a positive attitude towards science. This study revealed that secondary school students’ attitudes towards science differ significantly regarding their academic achievement. Female students were found to have a favourable attitude towards science as compared to their male counterparts. Results also showed that students at private schools possess a positive attitude towards science compared to students in government schools. They enjoy science and are ready to pursue their career in science as well.

Library Vandalism: Causes And Prevention 图书馆破坏:原因与预防

Vandalism is a menace that affects all types of libraries, especially academic libraries. Academic libraries are an integral part of an institution of higher learning. Librarians are considered curators of a library collection and they need to be aware of the ills of vandalism. They should adequately be prepared to deal with this menace. This paper examines the problems of vandalism being faced by the librarians. Various types of vandalism that occur in the libraries have been reported in this paper. The researcher has also highlighted the costs associated with vandalism along with vandalism prevention strategies.

Study of Opinions Related to the Use of Bio- Enabled Attendance System for Improving Punctuality Among Teachers 关于使用生物激活考勤系统提高教师准时性的意见研究

The study aims to assess the extent of use and adequacy of using the bio-enabled attendance system in educational institutions to develop punctuality among teachers. A fingerprint-based attendance monitoring system was used for this purpose. The sample comprises 70 teachers from an institution where a bio-enabled attendance machine was being used. The investigators collected teachers’ opinions towards using a bio-enabled attendance system for improving their punctuality with the help of a self-prepared questionnaire. The findings reveal that there is a significant difference in the teachers’ opinions towards the use of a bio-enabled attendance system with regards to their residential background and medium of teaching. There is no significant difference in the opinion of the teachers towards the use of a bio-enabled attendance system concerning their gender, computer training and teaching subjects. The results also show that the bio-enabled attendance system contributes towards improving the punctuality of teachers as it is effective, accurate, time-saving and checks the proxy system for marking the attendance.

Depression Among Adolescents in Relation to Spiritual Intelligence and Mindfulness 青少年抑郁与精神智力和正念的关系

The present study aims to investigate depression among adolescents with spiritual intelligence and mindfulness. The study was conducted on 500 adolescents studying in government and private schools/colleges in Karnataka. The sample of 500 adolescents was drawn from five randomly selected districts in Karnataka. The Spiritual Intelligence Scale (SIS-MK) by Misra (2014) Misra (2014), the Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) by Brown and Rayan (2003) and the Mental Depression Scale by Dubey (2006) were used for data collection. The results reveal that there is a significant and negative relationship between depression and spiritual intelligence. A significant and negative relationship also exists between depression and mindfulness. The results further indicate that the conjoint effect of spiritual intelligence and mindfulness on depression among adolescents is higher than their individual effects. Spiritual intelligence and mindfulness would contribute towards the prediction of depression of adolescents both independently and conjointly.

Cognitive Styles as Related to Scientific Attitude Among Adolescents 青少年认知风格与科学态度的关系

Cognitive styles are the consistent patterns of organising and processing information. It describes how the individual acquires knowledge (cognition) and processes information (conceptualisation). The present study is an attempt to study the relationship between cognitive styles and scientific attitude among adolescents. The sample comprised 400 adolescents from government and private schools in the four districts of Punjab. The Districts, schools and the adolescents were selected by using a simple random sampling technique. A descriptive survey method was employed. The findings of the study indicate that there is a significant and positive relationship between cognitive styles and scientific attitude among adolescents with respect to gender, locale and type of institution.

It describes how the individual acquires knowledge (cognition) and processes information (conceptualisation). The present study is an attempt to study the relationship between cognitive styles and scientific attitude among adolescents. The sample comprised 400 adolescents from government and private schools in the four districts of Punjab. The Districts, schools and the adolescents were selected by using a simple random sampling technique. A descriptive survey method was employed. Pedagogical Content Knowledge in Co-Teaching for Special Educators 特殊教育工作者合作教学中的教学内容知识

More than three decades ago, Shulman introduced the concept of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) to describe the ways of representing and formulating the subject matter to make it comprehensible to others. It involves understanding of how particular subject matter topics and issues are organized and represented in order to teach in an effective way. It also involves understanding the needs and struggles of the students. Shulman (1987) identified PCK as one of seven categories of teachers’ knowledge which is essential for providing meaningful learning experiences to all students including children with disabilities. This calls for special educators in inclusive settings to possess the knowledge and skills to implement PCK in teaching all students. There is no global PCK model; researchers have explained it differently in terms of components in the field. This paper attempts to explain the concept of PCK, its importance for special educators teaching in co-teaching and two models of PCK namely Shulman’s Model and Ball’s Model.

Occupational Stress of Women Teachers in Relation to Certain Demographic Variables 女教师职业压力与某些人口统计学变量的关系

Job stress has become an important issue. It is regarded as one of the important occu- pational risks in the modern age. The objective of the present study was to find out the difference in occupational stress of women teachers concerning certain demographic variables. The study was conducted on 500 women teachers teaching in government and self-financed schools and colleges from five districts of Punjab. A multistage random sampling technique was employed. The results revealed that women teachers in government schools and urban areas and women teachers above 35 years of age have higher occupational stress. Based on the findings, it is recommended that workshops on Yoga and meditation camps for teachers be organised to reduce the level of occupational stress.
