Choosing a profession is a vital stage in life. It is a complex process that leaves an enormous impact on student life. This research examines the factors which influence undergraduate music students’ career choices in Malaysian public universities. A total of 489 respondents responded to the questionnaire using a survey method. The results indicate that the individual factors are the most influential factors that affect undergraduate music students’ career choices. The results also show that male students are influenced by individual and societal factors in their decision to pursue a career in music. The One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test reports a significant difference between the type of instruments they play and the universities they attend on factors influencing the choice of music career among undergraduate music students. The students, educators, and instructors in learning institutions will find the information very useful to prepare students for their future careers.

This study explores the role of hardiness and social support in psychological well-being among university students. The sample consists of 208 university students who participated in an online survey. The result shows that social support and hardiness have a significant and positive correlation with all the dimensions of psychological well-being. Moreover, social support and hardiness were significant predictors of psychological well-being. This study suggests that apart from the academic curriculum, there is an absolute need to impart and develop social skills and hardiness traits among students, which could be beneficial for strengthening the psychological well-being of university students.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) integration is essential, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. While the need for ICT integration in today’s pedagogical activities is inevitable, online instruction in Ghanaian higher education is still challenging. Referring to the pressing need for ICT integration and online instructions amid COVID-19, we assess the challenges academic staff in Ghanaian universities encounter concerning online instructions and ICT integration into pedagogical activities. We conducted a cross-sectional survey with 628 (response rate of 83.1%, N= 522) academic staff from two universities. Results reveal that instructors/lecturers’ challenges (inadequate ICT infrastructure and lack of stable electric power) and institutional challenges (lack of consistent practice and limited technical assistance) pre- dominantly affects online instructions and ICT integration. The implication drawn from our findings is that the challenges of online instruction and ICT integration in Ghanaian universities are interrelated. We recommend that stakeholders and policy-makers in Ghanaian universities should endeavour to provide holistic solutions rather than solving the identified challenges in isolation.

This study examines the influence of individual differences in sensory sensitivities and motor functions of four individuals with a spectrum of autistic traits on impacting their responses to the music and movement intervention. A multiple case study approach examines the participants’ individualised responses to rhythmic entrainment during the six-week music and movement intervention. Sensory sensitivities play a vital role in affecting the four participants entraining their body movements to the rhythmic cues, and inducing their auditory-motor mechanism. The findings indicate that each participant with autism has a distinctive response to the rhythmic cues, and this impacts the treatment outcomes of the music and movement intervention. The study recommends future researchers include individual differences in sensory and motor development as part of their investigation. These factors can directly influence the treatment outcomes of music and movement intervention from a neurological aspect.

This study investigates the effectiveness of techno-pedagogical skills of secondary school teachers in their online teaching. A sample consists of 42 CBSE and ICSE secondary school teachers. The research adopts a descriptive survey design for collecting data using the “Techno-Pedagogical Skill Assessment Scale” developed by Sibichen (2011). Structured interviews also formed a part of data collection. The results reveal a moderately positive correlation between techno-pedagogical skills and effective online teaching. There is a significant difference between the high level and low level of techno-pedagogical skills of secondary school teachers with their effective online teaching. The positive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the techno-pedagogical skill of secondary school teachers is reported in the study.

Differences, backgrounds, and characteristics of teachers are essential factors in the teaching and learning environments. Teachers are a vital factor in quality education and an influential component in improving the success of any educational system. The primary purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the self-efficacy, goal orientations, and epistemological beliefs of teachers. A sample of 375 teachers participated in this study. Path analysis results indicate that their epistemological beliefs correlate with the ability to approach goals, mastery goals, and self-efficacy. The maximum effect of teachers’ mastery goal is on the efficacy of instructional strategies and then on classroom management efficacy.

This research investigates the relationship between organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) of university teachers and organizational effectiveness (OE) of Indian Universities. This cross-sectional survey includes 721 teachers from various state and private universities in Rajasthan, India. The findings reveal a positive and significant relationship between organizational citizenship behaviour and organizational effectiveness. Additionally, the state universities show a higher variance of 78% in organizational effectiveness by organizational citizenship behaviour as compared to private universities with 49% variance. This research establishes the conceptual and empirical linkage between OCB and OE within higher education institutions in the Indian context. This study provides some practical suggestions for university administrators for effective institutional management. It also offers input to policymakers to consider OCB as a new and innovative element of appraisal dimension and compensation system apart from traditional parameters of HR systems.

The young population nowadays extensively uses mobile phones and smartphones. The attractive features that smartphones offer to users have caused a rapid increase in the usage time of these technological devices. This situation has led to the emergence of the smartphone addiction concept. Considered one of the major problems of the 21st century by many researchers, smartphone addiction is an impulsive disorder caused by excessive and uncontrolled use of smartphones. The research aims to analyse university students’ smartphone usage habits and smartphone addiction regarding numerous variables such as gender, daily use time, daily frequency of control, number of social media accounts, and intended use. The sample for the study consists of 366 students. The research data were collected using the Personal Information Form and Smartphone Addiction Scale. The data analysis is done using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney-U tests. The results indicate that smartphone addiction levels of university students have a significant difference by gender, daily use time, daily frequency of control, and intended use. However, the number of social media accounts did not differ significantly.

Education plays a significant role in changing the behaviour, perceptions, feelings, and beliefs of the individual. The ability of a teacher to teach is dependent on their attitude toward the profession. The teacher helps create a conducive and learner-friendly atmosphere in the classroom through his attitude. It has a positive impact on the learning ability of children. The quality of education through pre-service and in-service teacher Education Programmes (PIEP) uplifts the standard of education in the whole country. These programmes help to support and develop the necessary pedagogical skills and competencies among teacher educators. The objective of the present study is to measure the attitude of pre- Service teacher educators towards the teaching profession. The sample consists of 30 Teacher educators. The study uses an Attitude towards the teaching profession scale standardized by Tewari to collect data. Statistical measures are employed to find the difference in attitude towards the teaching profession among pre-service teacher educators. The results reveal that significant differences do not exist between the attitude towards the teaching profession and pre-service teachers’ locale. There is a significant difference in attitude towards the teaching profession among pre-service teacher educators concerning their gender.

The quality of education and its determinants have been a topic of attention since the beginning of formal education. The present paper focuses on the issue of quality education among adolescent girls in the Jammu district (Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir). Out of five dimensions of quality education given by UNICEF, the first and foremost condition is the need to have ’quality learners’ is taken into consideration. It is an exploratory study based on empirical data gathered from 240 adolescent girls studying in sixteen higher secondary schools of Jammu District. The factors like parents’ education, monthly income of parents, family support, school environment, and good nutrition plays a vital role in making girls quality learners. Results show that cultural norms play an essential role in shaping the personality and choices of adolescent girls.
