This study developed and evaluated instructional video for teaching educational research methods to students in Nigerian Universities and also tried out to know if this teaching strategy affects students’ performance. Four research questions and one hypothesis were used for the study. The study adopted Research and Development (R&D) design for production of the video and One-group Pretest-Posttest Design to test the students’ performance. The population of this study comprised of 684 final year students and 138 lecturers in Faculty of Education from five public Universities in South-East geopolitical zone in Nigeria from which 296 students and 52 lecturers were selected for the study through simple random sampling technique. To collect data for the study, the researchers developed instructional video and was faced and content validated by five experts using 40-item structured questionnaire. The student's performance was measured through 20-item pretest and posttest multiple-choice type of test. Cronbach alpha statistics was used to determine the reliability coefficient of the instrument which gave a value of .83. A five- point rating scale was provided for the respondents to make their responses on the research questions. The research questions were analyzed using Mean and standard deviation while t-test was used to test the hypothesis at .05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that the contents, specific objectives, instructional methods, materials, learners’ task and evaluation techniques of the developed instructional video are appropriate for teaching educational research methods in Nigerian Universities Faculty of Education. The study further revealed a significance difference between the students taught with the video and students taught without the video. The researchers recommended among others that the video can be a supplementary material for distance learning, especially for learners who can learn independently. T

The present work aims to highlight the evolution of school autonomy policies in Italy since its inception. To do this, we analyze the premises and promises of autonomy in reference to new phenomena that have recently appeared in the universe of school. Finally, a comparison is made between autonomy and the performance of students that derive from it. This analysis is conducted in a multidisciplinary perspective, combining approaches ranging from educational policies to the sociology of education.

The quest for the use of Information and Computer Technology (ICT) by Guidance and Counseling Officers to discharge their duties in Bwari Area Council FCT Abuja, Nigeria, is of importance and has been emphasized. This study investigates the availability and competency of Guidance and Counseling Officers on the use of ICT. It also examines the influence of gender on Guidance and Counseling Officers’ perceived self efficacy. A total of One hundred and fifty (150) questionnaires were distributed out of which to a total of one hundred (100) were retrieved from Guidance and Counseling Officers (50 male and 50 females) in Bwari Area Council of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Nigeria, who were asked to indicate the availability and their level of competence in the use of ICT. The validity of the questionnaire was approved by three experts in the field. The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficients were 0.91, 0.83, 0.79 and 0.88 for experience of using computers, level of competency in basic computer operations, competency in using computer software and total score respectively. Percentage analysis showed that 72% of the Officers do not have the required experience in the use of computers, computer basic operations and the use of application software. The chi-square analysis indicated no significant difference between male and female Guidance and Counseling Officers’ competence in the use of computers, computer basic operations and the use of application software. It is recommended that the Officers should go extra mile in improving themselves as the professional development training provided by the government has proved inadequate. Guidance and Counseling Officers should be given adequate basic and advanced training on the use of ICT during their school training

The need for school accountability accompanied by demands that teachers must take responsibility for improving students’ performance on standardized test made educators to search for new ways to teach. Assessment is a key process in education and an essential ingredient of accountability. This study explored the effect of embedded assessment on secondary school students’ performance in geography. A set of embedded assessment procedures was developed and used among SS1 students. The objective of this study was to find out whether embedded assessment will be effective in the teaching and learning of geography among SS1 students. The pretest, posttest quasi-experimental research design was used for the study. Two public senior secondary schools were randomly selected from a total of 27 public senior secondary schools in Ilorin-west local government area of Kwara state. Instrument used were practical exercises, tests and quizzes as well as projects assignment were developed and embedded into classroom instructions in geography for experimental group while the regular continuous assessment was used in the control group. Analysis of Covariance was used to test the hypotheses formulated. A significant difference was observed between the performance of geography students exposed to embedded assessment and those exposed to the traditional assessment method. This was because the mean performance of experimental group was 31.06 while the mean performance of control group was 20.33. The implication for this study is that embedded assessment brings about better understanding of the subject content and assessment is done as the instruction takes place.

The need for acquisition of skills in information and communications technology among science teachers cannot be over-emphasized. Any science teacher who does not have sufficient skills in ICT may therefore not be able to cope with the 21st century demands of the teaching profession as the use of these technologies take central stage in everyday planning and delivery of teaching and learning in science classes. This study assessed the extent of acquisition of ICT skills among Basic science teachers in Kogi Central District of Kogi State, Nigeria. It adopted a descriptive survey research design. Three hundred and fifty teachers drawn through multi-stage sampling technique were used for the study. Information and communication technology skills acquisition questionnaire (ICTSAQ) was used to collect relevant data for this study. Five research questions were posed and four hypotheses were tested in the study. The research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation while the hypotheses were tested using t-test at .05 level of significance. The findings of this study revealed among others that the basic science teachers do not have sufficient skills in applying arithmetic operations in Microsoft excel. They do not also have sufficient skills in creating and editing power point slides as well as inserting pictures or objects in slides. It further revealed that teaching experience has no statistically significant influence on the acquisition of ICT skills among the teachers. The educational implications of the findings were discussed and adequate recommendations were also made
