The performance of learners in public senior secondary schools in Bauchi State has consistently been low for a long time. There are many factors that may have contributed to the low performance in the State. However, the influence of classroom management practices on the students` academic performance is a matter that has not been given attention. The study sought to assess the influence of the classroom management practices on the learners' academic achievements in public senior secondary schools in Bauchi State. The specific objectives for the study were; to assess the influence of classroom management on students' academic achievement; to find out how instructional supervision affects students' academic achievement. The target population for the study was 11 public senior secondary Schools, 206 principals and teachers. Out of the number 31 principals and teachers were sampled using stratified random sampling. To be ensure the validity of the instruments, both face and content validity was used. A reliability of 0.67 and 0.69 was obtained with the teachers` questionnaire. Data was collected by use of structured questionnaire. Data was grouped, coded, cleaned and analyzed using SPSS version 21. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the teachers' questionnaire. The study established that classroom management practices had an impact on learner’s academic achievement in teaching methodologies and therefore leading to little impact on the learners' achievement. Instructional supervision done by principals brought a positive impact towards learner’s achievement as this can make sure that teachers were able to complete the class syllabus. Most of the principals did not employ walking in class method during lessons to ascertain whether what was in the schemes was taught in the classes. This study recommends that classroom discipline management practices should be enhanced in order to realize better results, principals should go beyond just the norm

The study examined the effect of formative assessment with feedback on students’ performance in economics in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The study adopted a quasi-experimental research design in which three research questions guided the study with three corresponding null hypotheses. A population was made up of eleven government secondary schools in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, with a total of 1,780 SS II students offering economics. Two intact classes with 97 students in the two selected schools were used as a sample for the study. The instrument used for data collection was the Economics Achievement Test (EAT), which was subjected to scrutiny by experts in economic education, research, measurement, and evaluation from the University of Jos. The test-retest reliability method was used to establish the stability of the instrument, and a reliability coefficient of 0.83 was obtained, which showed that the instrument was reliable for the study. The research questions were answered using the mean and standard deviation, and ANCOVA was used to test the null hypotheses at a 0.05 level of significance. The finding revealed that students’ achievement in economics improved after exposure to formative assessment with feedback. It was recommended that school administrators, in collaboration with economics teachers, develop a standard formative assessment template for use by other economics teachers in schools.

The study investigated whether UTME Scores are predictor of Student Academic Performance (CGPA) in Tertiary Institutions in Akwa Ibom State and Cross River State. To achieve this purpose three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated and tested with simple linear regression analysis. The study adopted correlational design. The sample of the study were made up of two thousand, eight hundred and fifty (2,850) drawn through simple random sampling. The data for the study were collected from admissions office of the two universities. The result revealed that all the three null hypotheses were rejected, indicating that UTME scores do significantly predict students' academic performance CGPA. Based on these findings, some recommendations were made to include improving on computer based method of conducting their examination. This will help to curb the high rate of examination malpractice in the system.

This paper discussed teachers’ professional qualifications and experience as a requisite for effective classroom teaching in the Banadir region, Somalia. The paper discussed teacher professional qualifications as a person's academic or educational background or certificate that qualifies him or her to work as a teacher in a school and experience as the culmination of skill, exposure or training acquired over time that enables you to perform an existing job better or prepares you for a teaching position, others are years of teaching experience; teachers’ mastery of the subject; and teachers’ teaching or pedagogical skills as all the necessary cognitive knowledge for making teaching effective and to make suitable learning environments for learners. Several opinions of other authors were reviewed in this paper. The paper holds strongly that effective teaching is basically hinged on professional qualifications, years of teaching experience, subject matter knowledge, and pedagogical content knowledge of the teacher. The paper notes with dismay that many teachers in Somalia still lack these requisite qualities. It was recommended therefore that pre-service teachers should be made to possess these core qualities such as, subject matter knowledge, and pedagogical content knowledge so as to meet up with the current trend in national education. It also recommended that stakeholders in education develop a strategy for monitoring the establishment of related educational institutions in the country to ensure that the standard is not compromised.

The paper examined the challenges associated with values re-ordering of Nigerian youths in a multicultural society. The researcher employed the philosophical methods of critical reflections, analysis and speculation. Data were sourced from secondary data such as print materials, online journals and articles. The paper is relevant to stakeholders in education, namely, Government, Ministry of Education at various levels, Educationists, Teachers, Managers and Planners of school as well as Parents. Given the numerous contemporary issues in a multicultural Nigerian society, it is the position of the researcher that values should be re- evaluated and re-ordered. Such necessary steps would help savage the Nigerian youths from total collapse inspite of the significant progress in science and technology. Moreso this will offer Nigerian youths right ethical foundation for education.

Three research questions were answered while one hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The population consists of 4,806 teachers in public secondary schools in Abia State. Multistage sampling procedure was employed in drawing 531 teachers as the sample for the study. The instrument ‘Dilemma of Funding Public Secondary Schools Questionnaire (DFPSSQ)’, which was validated by three experts was employed for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was tested through the Cronbach Alpha method, and a satisfactory reliability coefficient of 0.81 was obtained. The Mean was deployed for the analysis of the research questions, whereas Z-test was used to test the hypothesis. The study found among others that the various sources of funding for secondary education have not been effective and reliable. It also revealed that there has been ineffective utilization of the available meagre fund. It was concluded that there are systemic bottlenecks in funding public secondary schools in Abia State. The study recommended that the stakeholders should become more objective and patriotic in handling all aspects of school funding.
