Background
Mindfulness meditation (MM) and hypnosis practices are gaining interest in mental health, but their physiological mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study aimed to synthesize the functional, morphometric and metabolic changes associated with each practice using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and to identify their similarities and differences.
Methods
MRI studies investigating MM and hypnosis in mental health, specifically stress, anxiety, and depression, were systematically screened following PRISMA guidelines from four research databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, PsycINFO) between 2010 and 2022.
Results
In total, 97 references met the inclusion criteria (84 for MM and 13 for hypnosis). This review showed common and divergent points regarding the regions involved and associated brain connectivity during MM practice and hypnosis. The primary commonality between mindfulness and hypnosis was decreased default mode network intrinsic activity and increased central executive network - salience network connectivity. Increased connectivity between the default mode network and the salience network was observed in meditative practice and mindfulness predisposition, but not in hypnosis.
Conclusions
While MRI studies provide a better understanding of the neural basis of hypnosis and meditation, this review underscores the need for more rigorous studies.

Chitosan, a biopolymer made from the chitin found in crab shells, has notably come into play because of its multitude of functionalities in oral healthcare. Chitosan has exceptional antibacterial characteristics that enable it to successfully fight off oral germs that cause bad breath, tooth plaque, and gum disease. Moreover, mouthwashes made from chitosan are known for being non-toxic and biocompatible, which promotes tissue repair and offers a healthy alternative to conventional mouthwashes.
Aims and objective
The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of chitosan mouthwash for oral mucositis among head and neck cancer patients who had undergone radiotherapy by analysing clinical parameter scores, including VAS, OMAS, and WHO.
Materials and methods
This is an in vivo observational study that consists of forty head and neck cancer patients under radiotherapy who have oral mucositis and agreed to participate. The control group (n = 20) used chlorhexidine mouthwash and the study group (n = 20) used chitosan mouthwash. All patients underwent clinical evaluations for pain/discomfort, ulcers and erythema, and severity of mucositis using VAS, OMAS, and WHO mucositis scores subsequently every 20 days after the start of radiation.
Results
The effectiveness of the chitosan mouthwashes in the study group showed reduced mucositis symptoms compared to the control group, with statistical significance.
Conclusion
Chitosan, a naturally derived biopolymer from chitin, holds great potential in the treatment of oral mucositis due to its anti-inflammatory properties, and it has a positive overall impact on the quality of life.
Contexte

Neuropathic pain remains extremely difficult to relieve, with a considerable impact on quality of life. In addition to appropriate pharmacological optimization, the management of neuropathic pain often involves interventional algology, including neurolytic blocks. Neurolytic blocks are indicated for intractable focal neuropathic pain, in the management of spasticity and in oncology. They use a variety of “lytic” agents, whether chemical, physical or thermal. Neurolytic blocks can only be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, including assessment of psychosocial vulnerability factors and a close individualized follow-up. In most cases, they require diagnostic and selective anesthetic blocks. The role of neurolytic blocks can be considered and integrated into a multimodal scheme from the initial development of the therapeutic plan for a patient suffering from focal neuropathic pain.

Preparation for bariatric surgery is improving greatly with the development of numerous therapeutic education programmes (TPE), which attempt to integrate as effectively as possible the factors that can have an impact on the life and care of obese patients. However, there is little research on the question of male gender, and even less on the potential interaction between the weight of male norms and the way in which pain and symptoms are expressed. With Mr R, it will be clear that if the specificity conferred by gender is not taken into account in the care pathway, the usual stereotypes concerning masculine norms may become part of his pathway, like so many limiting representations, in achieving the objective of a better quality of life. It is in this context that practical ways will be explored concrete courses of action in which carers can identify this problem and take better account of the impact of gender on care.
