The attention to rainwater evacuation and to the structure protection against meteorological agents has given rise to a set of proposals of pantograph-based deployable structures on rectangular plant, in which these structures define limes and roof planes of sufficient slope. This work starts on the resolution of the layout of deployable structures with a broken guideline, guaranteeing the correct kinematic functioning through the construction of models. Polygonal guidelines, compound curves and also combinations of curves and straight lines are studied. The stabilization problems of the solution in the deployed state are analyzed, incorporating the textile cover and bracing cables. Finally, a set of proposals with different intrados and extrados surfaces and another group of them in which the deployment directions do not follow the two plan axis, are developed and analysed too.

Subsoil properties study is crucial in order to design foundations and to prevent structural pathologies. In this paper, 459 explorations of Badajoz subsoil were analyzed; they were carried out during two decades. A bank of data creation was described, as well as the elaboration of a set of maps. They constitute the Basic Geotechnical Map of Badajoz. In these maps, the most representative characteristics of each stratum are also collected from a building perspective. In the study eight representative stratums were found. The geotechnical cartography has been obtained graphically by isolines, indicating the position and thickness of the stratums mentioned above. The study could be of interest both to technicians competent in the field of building and urban planning.

Se ha estudiado un edificio residencial con estructura de madera laminada en Granada (España) con la metodología de análisis del ciclo de vida, análisis energético del ciclo de vida y análisis de sensibilidad a cambios en la eficiencia energética durante el uso, bases de datos, distancia del transporte y diferentes escenarios para los residuos. Los impactos ambientales de las etapas de producción de materiales y construcción, así como la energía embebida fueron relativamente significantes. El valor del calentamiento global ha sido muy bajo debido al secuestro de CO2 por la madera. El análisis de sensibilidad ha revelado que la mayor reducción se consigue con la mejora de la eficiencia energética, la alta incertidumbre en los impactos de las declaraciones ambientales de producto, el escaso efecto del transporte de larga distancia sobre los impactos totales y la viabilidad de conseguir el objetivo de valorización de la Directiva Marco para el horizonte 2020 (mayor del 70%).

Esta investigación (2) surge del análisis de 248 informes de la Oficina de Supervisión de Proyectos la Dirección de Infraestructura de la Armada (3), correspondientes tanto a estudios como a estudios básicos de seguridad y salud, que han puesto de manifiesto la frecuente carencia de determinados aspectos documentales en los contenidos mínimos obligatorios que establece el Real Decreto 1627/1997. Esta situación ha motivado un estudio minucioso sobre ello, analizando de forma detallada las incidencias más habituales para buscar su posible origen y comparando las que son comunes para ambos tipos de documentos.

El consumo energético del parque de viviendas español debe ser analizado para promover políticas adecuadas de rehabilitación urbana y reducir las emisiones de CO2. Debido a que las tipologías edificatorias varían considerablemente de una zona a otra se requiere establecer una diferenciación previa según el territorio. En este sentido, este estudio desarrolla una metodología para analizar el parque residencial extremeño, y realiza el examen de un conjunto de viviendas de distinto periodo y tipo constructivo. Se han utilizado simulaciones energéticas, encuestas y datos de facturas, y se aportan indicadores de demanda y consumo. Los valores obtenidos demuestran que las viviendas unifamiliares consumen, de media anual, entre 100 y 200kWh/m2, mientras que las plurifamiliares reducen sus valores entre 60 y 150kWh/m2, siendo los valores más altos los que pertenecen al periodo constructivo de 1940 a 1980. Además de ello se observa una mayoría de viviendas del conjunto en situación de pobreza energética.

El terremoto del Maule del año 2010 de magnitud 8.8Mw, dejó severamente dañadas las estructuras de adobe que conforman gran parte del patrimonio colonial rural chileno. En ese contexto, y como parte de un programa gubernamental de reconstrucción patrimonial, se desarrollaron una serie de intervenciones destinadas a la recuperación estructural y arquitectónica de las obras dañadas, pese a la inexistencia en ese entonces, de una normativa específica que regulara dichas intervenciones. Así, las actuaciones de reconstrucción, refuerzo y consolidación estructural, se realizaron teniendo como referentes investigaciones internacionales, adaptándolas a la realidad de las tipologías locales, en una suerte de laboratorio real donde el desempeño estructural de los inmuebles será puesto a prueba en futuros sismos. En este artículo se caracterizan y analizan comparativamente los sistemas de refuerzo empleados en edificios religiosos y viviendas de adobe, en función de las características tipológicas y de los daños sufridos.

Se presenta un modelo metodológico para analizar, interpretar y planificar el paisaje del espacio periurbano, fruto de la investigación aplicada que vienen desarrollando los autores sobre diversos espacios; aquí se describe el último de ellos. Su interés estriba en la importancia creciente del periurbano, y en el déficit metodológico del estudio de su paisaje, en contraste con la abundancia en territorios supraurbanos. El modelo estructura de forma coherente y comprensiva, conceptos paisajísticos diferentes, en tres niveles y un doble carácter: conceptual y metodológico; conceptualmente los niveles corresponden a tres grados de aproximación al conocimiento del paisaje: descriptivo, interpretativo y propositivo; y metodológicamente, a las tres fases de formulación de un plan: análisis, diagnóstico y propuestas. There is no scientific literature on the interaction between the correction processes of acoustic pathologies and the habitability conditions in housing buildings. In this paper, the authors deduce the main interferences caused by the acoustic refurbishment of minimum dwellings in their habitability conditions from more than one hundred cases of legal claims in Catalonia. An analysis of the degree of interference is performed using as a case study the social housing of Aragon from the period 1939-1975 before and after a theoretical acoustic refurbishment. It is verified that the acoustic refurbishment solutions can have inopportune consequences in the habitability parameters of the dwellings. In addition, some of these dwellings before a hypothetical intervention are already deficient in this sense, raising the need for a revision of the habitability regulations for the minimum housing stock.

Recent research has studied the influence of office buildings indoor environment quality (IEQ) on employees’ well-being, health and performance. However, it seems that it has not been explicitly explored what are the appropriate environmental conditions to different work patterns that coexist in these spaces. This paper presents results of an empirical research, based on the synchronized measurements of different IEQ parameters (i.e., noise, lighting and temperature), and well-being, health and performance of 71 employees in twelve office spaces in the Valencian Community along three periods, considering winter and summer conditions. Findings of the first winter period data, suggest the existence of different ideal parameters for different levels of task complexity (one of the dimensions that characterizes work patterns) in the Mediterranean climate; and open new avenues of research to build up a specific Smart and Sustainable Offices (SSO) model and further systemic design-support tools.

This article aims to complete the history about the design and construction of the new headquarters of Torroja Institute. Interestingly, the importance of their gardens has not been deeply discussed, even if they are mentioned several times throughout the literature, there is no text or article that analyzes them. This research is part of a doctoral thesis “The modern garden in Spain (1926-1980)”, that examines the various gardens and open spaces of the ITCC (paths, spatial organization, uses and relationship with the building and the environment). The study relies on plans and photographic archive of the building (construction, visits and events) where the garden is displayed as testimony to the life of this research center, without forgetting its relationship with national and foreign formal trends of the Twentieth Century and its great contribution to the time it was built, being a model for later examples.
