The present study deals with the features of long sentences in the novel The Autumn of the Patriarch by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. This study aimed to identify the features of long sentences found in the novel and to suggest ways to comprehend the long sentences. This study is beneficial for the development of English teaching, particularly the structure course. The data were in the form of phrases, clauses, and sentences used in the novel which were collected through observation method (metode simak). Descriptive qualitative method was employed for analysing the data. The results indicated that most of the sentences were compound complex. Each clause can be identified through its subject, predicate, object, and adverb or complement. Each subordinate clause could be un-derstood by identifying the word(s) modified and introductory word used. By identifying the main clause, sub-ordinate clause, parts of a main clause, subordinate clause, and kinds of phrases, the reader can under-stand the long sentences. In addition, most of the main clauses were pre-ceded by adverbials.

This study aims to explore the types and causes of students’ disruptive behaviors happen in English class. The method of this study was qualitative research. The research type was case study. The data were obtained from observation and interview. The source data were 118 students in level 3. The techniques analyzing data used three steps including data reduction, data display, and vilification. The results showed that the types of disruptive behaviors happen in the class were class disruption, aggression and goofing off. The causes of students’ disruptive behaviors were from the environment around them (friend and social life), bad learning (lazy to study and English is too difficult), and psychology needs (power, freedom, fun). Based on the correlation results, it can be inferred that the types of the disruption that happen in the English class is low behaviors. The environment has more influence for students to make the disruptive behavior in the class. Classroom management is critical in keeping students in a safe and conducive environment for effective learning. Therefore, teachers and principals should add meaning to stimulate and keep going suitable behaviors of students in classroom organizations.

The article titled “Karakteristik Gangguan Tidur pada Usia Produktif dan Usia Pertengahan” ([version 1; peer review: 1 not approved] F1000Research 2019, 8: 396 http://10.23917/humaniora.v22i2.13555) has been retracted by F1000Research on the grounds of scientific misconduct. On submission to F1000Research, all manuscripts undergo plagiarism checks as standard—this is detailed in our Originality policies. Upon submission, authors are also required to declare that the article is not under consideration or review by another publisher. At this stage in the publication process, our plagiarism detection software did not identify any significant duplication of text. On investigation, the extent of overlap between these two publications was substantial, and this was deemed a case of duplicate publication. Duplicate publication is a major ethical issue and, as a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and a follower of the Jurnal Penelitian Humaniora (JPH) recommendations, F1000Research takes such matters seriously. In response to our concerns, corresponding author Soleh Amini acknowledged that publication misconduct has taken place and has been informed that, due to the extent and nature of duplication between the articles published in F1000Research and IOP, F1000Research will retract the article and publish a linked retraction notice. This study has two objectives: (1) to identify interference of the English lexicon into Indonesian used on Youtube and (2) to identify the imple-mentation of the development of Youtube-based English lexicon interfer-ence teaching material into Indonesian. This research is a qualitative description which involve data in the form of video from Youtube. The collection techniques are using listening methods and collecting record-ings, taking notes, observation and focus group discussions which in-volve studens. The data analysis technique uses translational equivalent method and the aggregate method. The results of this study show that there are six forms of interference of the English lexicon into the Indone-sian language. (a) 39 nouns, (b) 6 verbs, (c) 3 pronouns, (d) 1 conjunc-tion, (e) 3 adverbs, and (f) 8 adjectives. This finding is useful in the im-plementation of sociolinguistic learning with lexicon interference mate-rial from English into Indonesian based on the standard set by the Minis-try of Education.

This research has two aims. 1) to describe the pattern of lan-guage learning in primary school thematic text-books used in grade 1; and 2) to describe how to monitor and evaluate lan-guage learning in school thematic text-books used in the basic class in grade 1. By using the method of listening and tapping as well as note-taking techniques, we collected our data sourced from the 2013 thematic integrated curriculum book for elementary school students grade one. The data that have been obtained are then analyzed and presented formally in the narrative form. The results of this study indicate that of the 8 themes that are represented in the 8 books are able to pre-sent aspects and language competencies that are rather sys-tematic. In addition, the training and evaluation monitoring sheet in the form of "Now I Can" can make it easier for teach-ers to measure the achievement and success of each student's learning comprehensively and validly.

Pengadaan Pasa Harau Art and Culture Festival di Nagari Harau, Kabupaten Limapuluhkota, Sumatera Barat bertujuan untuk memberikan kontribusi pada tata kelola seni dan peluangnya mengambil bagian dalam proses demokratisasi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan dimana para peneliti ikut terlibat langsung dalam upaya menumbuhkan kembali dan melestarikan nilai-nilai budaya yang ada di Nagari Harau. Pasa Harau Art and Culture Festival merupakan suatu tindakan yang dipilih untuk diimplementasikan dalam penelitian ini, dimana pelaksanaan kegiatannya sudah disesuaikan dengan sistem/struktur organisasi yang baru. Struktur organisasi ini menyatu dengan Pemerintah Nagari Harau, institusi adat, dan bersifat fleksibel terdiri dari unsur-unsur Rapat Nagari, Dewan Festival, Direktur, Kurator, dan keuangan. Refleksi yang merupakan salah satu rangkaian dalam siklus penelitian tindakan mencatat dua hal penting yaitu 1) diperlukan suatu upaya yang lebih gigih untuk mendapatkan kepercayaan dan juga akses dari masyarakat setempat dalam upaya pelestarian nilai budaya di Nagari Harau dan 2) perlu adanya antisipasi terkait munculnya pelaku bisnis pariwisata yang hanya peduli pada keuntungan atau ajakan kolaborasi penuh resiko oleh birokrasi dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan Pasa Harau Art and Culture Festival.ART AND CITIZENSHIPThe Pasa Harau Art and Culture Festival in Nagari Harau, Limapuluhkota Regency, West Sumatra was conducted with the purpose to preserve the art values upheld in the community. It was also considered as an opportunity to take parts in the democratization process in Indonesia. This research implemented an action research approach where the researchers directly involved in the efforts to nurture and preserve the cultural values existed in Nagari Harau. Pasa Harau Art and Culture Festival was chosen to be implemented in this study in which the implementation of its activities has been adjusted to the new organizational system/structure. This organizational structure was integrated with the Nagari Harau Government, local culture institutions, and was executed flexibly, consisting of the elements of the Nagari Meeting, Festival Council, Director, Curator, and finance. In the Reflection cycle, which was a part of this action research cycles, two important points were noted: 1) a more persistent effort was needed to gain trust and access from the local community in the effort to preserve cultural values in Nagari Harau and 2) anticipation was needed regarding the emergence of business people who only cared for profits and risky collaboration with political parties/ bureaucracy in the implementation of the Pasa Harau Art and Culture Festival

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap kiprah dan kontribusi Pendidikan Luar Sekolah dalam pembangunan manusia khususnya melalui Paguyuban Seni di Kelurahan Gedungkiwo, Yogyakarta di masa kini serta bagaimana Pendidikan Luar Sekolah berperan dalam meningkatkan pencapaian Indeks Pembangunan Manusia di wilayah tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Semua data primer diperoleh langsung dari informan di Kelurahan Gedongkiwo dengan menggunakan teknik observasi dan wawancara. Informan dalam penelitian ini dapat dikategorikan menjadi tiga yaitu informan dasar, informan kunci dan informan tambahan. Kepala desa terpilih sebagai informan dasar, ketua sanggar sebagai informan kunci dan pemangku kepentingan serta penari sebagai informan tambahan. Data primer juga dikumpulkan dari peserta didik sebagai informan tambahan melalui teknik snowball sampling. Sementara itu, data sekunder dikumpulkan melalui studi literatur. Semua kumpulan data dianalisis menggunakan teori estetika, teori hegemoni dan relasi kekuasaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kinerja Paguyuban seni di Kelurahan Gedongkiwo di era global berimplikasi pada karakter kepribadian anak, peningkatan semangat dan solidaritas dalam masyarakat serta penguatan kesadaran dalam pelestarian budaya.IMPLICATIONS OF NON-FORMAL EDUCATION TOWARDS CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMEMT THROUGH THE JEMBLUNG ARTS COMMUNITY IN THE GLOBAL ERAThe purpose of this research was to reveal the progress and contribution of non-formal Education in human development, especially through the Arts Association in Gedungkiwo Village, Yogyakarta in the present day and how non-formal Education played its role in increasing the achievement of the Human Development Index in the region. Karya-karya sastra umumnya memiliki tanda atau simbol yang merepresentasikan makna tertentu yang perlu dipecahkan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan telaah kode-kode yang terdapat dalam cerpen “Tak Ada yang Gila di Kota Ini” karya Eka Kurniawan dengan menggunakan analisis semiotik yang dikemukakan oleh Roland Barthes yang mencakup beberapa sistem kode yaitu kode aksi, kode teka-teki, kode budaya, kode konotatif, dan kode simbolik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dengan mengaplikasikan teknik baca dan catat. Data berupa, kata, frasa, klausa, dan atau kalimat. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kelima kode digunakan dalam cerpen diatas. Ada delapan bagian yang merepresentasikan kode aksi. Sementara itu, kode teka-teki digunakan untuk menggambarkan salah satu tokoh. Kode budaya digunakan untuk menggambarkan nilai-nilai yang dianut dan dipercayai para tokoh dalam cerpen. Dan dua kode terakhir yaitu kode konotatif dan simbolik, merupakan dua kode yang saling melengkapi satu sama lain, dimana kode konotatif menyiratkan suatu makna tertentu yang kemudian di di dalam novel tersebut direpresentasikan dalam bentuk symbol-simbol. A SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS OF THE SHORT STORY ENTITLED “NOTHING IS CRAZY IN THIS CITY”Literary works generally decode signs or symbols that represent certain meanings which need to be interpretated. This study reported the analysis of codes contained in the short story entitled “Nothing is Crazy in This City” written by Eka Kurniawan using a semiotic analysis proposed by Roland Barthes which comprised several code systems, namely code of action, code of puzzle, code of culture, connotative code, and symbolic code. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative research method. The data were obtained by applying reading and note-taking techniques. Data were in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and or sentences. The analysis results showed that the five codes were all used in the short story. Within the story code of actions could be found in eight sections. Meanwhile, a puzzle code was used to describe one of the characters. Cultural codes were used to describe the values upheld and believed by the characters. Lastly, the connotative and symbolic codes were the two codes that complemented each other. The connotative codes implied certain meanings which were then represented in the form of symbols within the short story.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan 1) karakteristik batik siger Lampung karya Andanan batik di Desa Negeri Sakti Pesawaran Lampung, 2) motif Lampung yang diterapkan sebagai kombinasi pada batik Andanan Lampung, dan 3) proses pembuatan batik Andanan Lampung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi angket, alat tulis, handphone, kamera dan komputer. Keabsahan data diperoleh dengan menggunakan krite-ria credibility, transferability, dependenbility, dan comfirmability. Prosedur penelitian meliputi menghimpun data, mereduksi data, mengklarifikasi data, menarik kesimpulan dan menyusun laporan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) karakteristik batik Andanan Lampung adalah motif Siger sebagai motif utama dalam setiap desainnya; 2) motif yang sering dikombinasi pada batik ini adalah motif daun kopi, daun sirih, motif giometris, dan non giometris, motif manusia, sembagi, motif kapal atau perahu dan pohon hayat; 3) proses pembuatan batik menggunakan canting dengan teknik batik tulis. Pada Batik Andanan Lampung, motif yang diterapkan pada kain tidak penuh dibatik dan hal ini merupakan ciri khas dari batik ini.SIGER: ONE OF SPECIAL BATIK MOTIFS BELONGED TO ANDANAN BATIK LAMPUNGThe purpose of this study was to describe 1) the characteristics of the Siger Lampung Batik by Andanan Batik in Negeri Sakti Pesawaran Lampung Village, 2) the Lampung batik motifs which were applied as a combination in the Andanan Lampung batik, and 3) the process of making Andanan Lampung Batik. The research method used was descriptive. Data were collected using interview techniques, observation and documentation. The instruments used included questionnaires, writing instruments, cellphones, cameras and computers. The validity of the data was obtained using the criteria of credibility, transferability, dependability, and comfirmability. Research procedures involved collecting data, reducing data, clarifying data, drawing conclusions and writing reports. The results revealed that 1) the characteristic of Lampung Andanan Batik was the Siger motifs as the main patterns in each design; 2) the motifs which were often combined in this batik included coffee leaf, betel leaf, giometric and non-geometric patterns, human patterns, sembagi, canoe or boat patterns and hayat trees; 3) the process of making batik used canting and applied written batik technique. In Lampung Andanan Batik, a batik cloth was not fully applied with batik motifs and this was especially became the distinctive feature of Batik Andanan Lampung.

Johnson dapat dilihat bagaimana modal budaya berperan penting dalam membangun sebuah kota dan memberikan identitas didalamnya. Buku “Cultural Capital Rvaluing the Arts, Remaking Urban Spaces” yang ditulis Louse C. Johnson memberikan contoh kota yang kembali dibangun dengan menerapkan konsep modal budaya.
