Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai norma masyarakat dalam permainan Jawa Kuda Lumping. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini menggunakan model studi kasus dengan melakukan observasi terhadap pertunjukan Kuda Lumping dan wawancara dengan pihak terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa norma-norma kemasyarakatan yang terdapat dalam praktik kesenian Kuda Lumping pada masyarakat Jawa pada umumnya dan Indonesia pada khususnya antara lain: pertama, norma agama, yang bertentangan karena ritual tersebut dianggap syirik. Kedua, norma kesopanan kelompok kesenian Kuda Lumping dalam pertunjukan selalu memperhatikan kepentingan yang ada di masyarakat. Ketiga, norma kesusilaan terlihat dari hubungan penari kuda lumping dengan penontonnya. Keempat, kesenian Kuda Lumping masih diperbolehkan jika dilihat dari norma hukum sejauh pada saat dipentaskan tidak melanggar aturan hukum yang ada di negara Indonesia pada khususnya. Oleh karena itu, temuan empat norma masyarakat dalam permainan Jawa Kuda Lumping merepresentasikan budaya Indonesia yang masih hidup dalam masyarakat.Community norms in the traditional Javanese game “Kuda Lumping”This study aimed to describe the community norms contained in the traditional Javanese game named Kuda Lumping. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan struktur semantis dalam antologi geguritan Gurit Musthika Buwana. Penelitain ini termasuk dalam penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah beberapa geguritan dalam Antologi Geguritan yaitu dengan jumlah tiga geguritan, yaitu mecaki awang suwung, satriyatama, dongane sukma, dan eling. Kemudian, penentuan unit analisis didasarkan pada unit Sintaksis, yaitu kalimat atau larik yang puisi yang mengandung topik utama. Sedangkan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik baca dan catat. Validitas yang digunakan yaitu validitas semantis, Sementara itu, reliabilitas yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu tingkat akurasinya. Data yang sudah diklasisfikasikan kemudian dijabarkan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa struktur semantis dalam Antologi Geguritan Musthika Buwana ada tinjauan topikalisasi, gagasan utama, dan struktur semantis. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada topikalisasi terdapat empat topik yaitu cinta, nasionalisme, nasihat, dan religi. Kesatuan tunggal berjumlah satu dan kesatuan gabungan mempunyai empat gagasan. Pengembangan terkait struktur semantis yaitu pengulangan berjumlah satu dan penjajaran berjumlah tiga. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis faktor penyebab pergeseran tradisi rebu pada suku Karo di Kota Medan. Lokasi penelitian adalah Kota Medan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode pendekatan etnografi. Teori yang digunakan sebagai alat analisis dan dasar pembahasan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah teori dekonstruksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan peneliti adalah observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisa data adalah dengan menggunakan analisa deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor penyebab pergeseran tradisi rebu disebabkan dua faktor. Pertama faktor dari dalam masyarakat sendiri yakni: kurangnya pemahaman terhadap tradisi rebu, kurangnya sosialisasi dalam masyarakat, hilangnya nilai-nilai budaya. Kedua, faktor dari luar masyarakat yakni adanya arus modernisasi dan globalisasi yang mengubah pola pikir, faktor lingkungan yang harus beradaptasi dengan lingkungan tempat tinggal, perkawinan antarsuku atau perkawinan campur, faktor ekonomi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup, dan faktor politik untuk mencapai sesuatu kepentingan politik.Rebu: Tradition of avoiding the Karo tribe (Ethnographic Study of the Karo Tribe in Medan City) The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the factors causing the shift in the rebu tradition in the Karo Tribe, Medan. This research was conducted in Medan. The method used in this study is an ethnographic approach. The theory used as an analytical tool and the basis for discussing the problem in this study is the theory of deconstruction. Data collection techniques are observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were then analyzed using a qualitative descriptive analysis with an ethnographic approach. The results showed that the factors causing the shift in the rebu tradition were caused by two factors. First, factors from within the community itself, namely: lack of understanding of the rebu tradition, lack of socialization in society, and loss of cultural values. Second, factors from outside the community, namely the currents of modernization and globalization that change mindsets, environmental factors that must adapt to the environment in which they live, inter-ethnic marriages or mixed marriages, economic factors to meet the needs of life, and political factors to achieve political interests.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisa ajaran mistik kejawen yang terkandung dalam teks Menak Amir Hamza pupuh IX-XI. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian deskriptif dan penelitian filologi. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu naskah yang memuat teks Menak Amir Hamza pupuh IX-XI. Data primer penelitian ini yaitu naskah Menak Amir Hamza yang disimpan di Museum British dengan kode Add. 12309. Data sekunder penelitian ini yaitu buku dengan judul Alih Aksara Teks Ménak Amir Hamza Jilid 1. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dengan langkah-langkah penelitian filologi. Instrumen penelitian berwujud kartu data yang disajikan dalam tabel. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan validitas semantis dan reliabilitas intrarater serta reliabilitas interrarer. Selanjutnya, data dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ajaran yang terkandung didalamnya masih bisa untuk diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari karena piwulang mistik kejawen memuat lampah-lampah spiritual dalam keterkaitanya untuk mencapai kesempurnaan batin dan ajaran untuk menjaga keselarasan antara hubungan horizontal dengan sesama dan hubungan vertikal dengan Tuhannya. The research instrument is in the form of data cards which are presented in the table. The data validity technique used semantic validity, intrarater reliability and interrarer reliability. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using a descriptive method. Based on the results, the teachings contained could be applied in everyday life because piwulang mystical kejawen contains spiritual lampahs in relation to achieving inner perfection and teachings to maintain harmony between horizontal relationships with others and vertical relationships with God. The spiritual lampahs are: lampah syariat, lampah tarekat, lampah essence and makrifat.

The purpose of this research were first, to investigate the students’ difficulties in speaking English second, to know the expressions while thier doing conversation. This types of this study is qualitative especially focuses on descriptive analytical method. The research used fifteen students of ISI Pringsewu as subject of this research. The data were collected thorugh some of videos and transcript of conversation. The result of this reserach showed that 25% of the students have good in grammar, 10% of the students speak English in true pronunciation, 18% of the students have good in vocabulary and 69% of the students have good in pronunciation. It can be concluded that the students have good fluency in speak English. However, most of the students’ difficulties in grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. This is because students feel not need grammar while speaking, less of vocabulary or lazy to adding their of vocabulary, less of practice pronunciation or lazy to search how to say each words

It can be concluded that the students have good fluency in speak English. However, most of the students’ difficulties in grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. Happiness is the goal of the American dream; a means to reach happiness is wealth; in the following turn, wealth cannot be gained without optimism, opportunities, and hard work. Meanwhile, the massive use of conceptual metaphor raises the question of whether all of the domains, namely optimism, opportunities, hard work, wealth, and happiness were expressed in metaphor in the Great Gatsby whose theme is the American dream. The data collection technique was document analysis. The data were differentiated from the non-data, taxonomized, analyzed their components, and analyzed their dominance. The results show that all domains of the American dream are expressed in all types of metaphors. Structural and ontological metaphors have slight differences in terms of sum. The orientational metaphor, however, has an extreme gap compared to the first two metaphors.Key words: American dream, metaphor, conceptual, expression

This study deals with the allophones of several phonemes pronounced by a voice actor in performing a character in animation movie. It concerns with the stylistic analysis in phonetic and phonology levels that reinforce the voice actor in performance. The data are taken from the utterances spoken by Adam Sandler, the voice actor of Count Dracula in Hotel Transylvania-2. The method of data analysis is through descriptive qualitative based on stylistic and phonetic approaches. By comparing the general American accent with the voice actor’s pronunciation, it is found that the acoustic features of [5], [r], [?], [º], [n̪] and phonemes /@/ and /e/ have particular effects in reinforcing the character in the movie, mainly to bring up comical atmosphere.Keywords: stylistics, phonetics, phonemes, allophones, voice actor

This paper explored the types of collocations used in an English textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris (SMA/MA/SMK/MAK, Kelas X, Semester 1). The primary source of data was the textbook, entitled Bahasa Inggris, which was published by the Indonesian government for the first-year or class 10 students of senior high schools (SMA/MA/SMK/MAK). This study was a corpus analysis. The researchers utilized AntCont 3.5.8 to extract and discover the required data and then explored the types of collocations used in the Bahasa Inggris textbook. The results showed that the textbook comprised of Grammatical G1 (1807), Grammatical G3 (178), Grammatical G4 (1770), Grammatical G5 (1), Lexical L1 (594), Lexical L3 (125), Lexical L5 (21), and Lexical L6 (1). Grammatical G1 collocation was the most frequent type in the textbook. The results indicated that it would be beneficial for English teachers to provide collocation materials for the students to accommodate their writing and speaking skills.

Batak is one of the patriarchal ethnic cultures in Indonesia that has strong gender norms applied within its people. Second-generation Indonesian Batak-American that live in both Batak gender norms and Egalitarian gender norms might have a different perspective about their ethnic gender norms as assimilation in America impacts their views. This research aims to find the impacts of assimilation toward Second-generation Batak-Americans in viewing Batak Ethnic gender norms. This research is digital ethnography. In analyzing the data, the research applies segmented assimilation by Portez and Zhou to answer the research questions. The result, assimilation impacts second-generation Batak-American immigrants’ perspective about Batak gender norms where they adapt more to the American Egalitarian gender norms and American Egalitarian family structure because of the human capitals that they have.

Educational and psychological counseling in universities represents one of the most important means to help the student adapt the university atmosphere and get the highest degrees of success. It also helps check up the students' problems by presenting advice and guidance to them. It tries to make the student being the center of the educational process excellent in his personality in the psychological, social, academic, cultural, religious, intellectual, and sanitarian aspects. Further, it helps the student to gradually transfer from the environment of the general education to the environment of the university stage in which the student depends on himself to take decisions, identify his specialization, and improve his academic and behavioral conduct.
