Long-Reach Wavelength Division Multiplexing-Passive Optical Networks (WDM-PONs) 长程波分复用无源光网络(wdm - pon)

A bidirectional long-reach 64-channel DWDM-PON with 50 GHz channel spacing based on wavelength-locked Fabry-Perot laser diodes is demonstrated. It consolidates a metro network into an access network by bypassing the central offices within its reach.

Hollow-core kagome lattice fibres made from polymer are demonstrated for the first time. Simulations of the fibre showed that it does not support photonic bandgaps so an alternative guidance mechanism is proposed.

We have developed an effective fabrication process for As2S3 waveguides. A bottom anti-reflection coating provides a suitable layer to protect the As2S3 film from attack by the alkaline developer whilst CHF3 plasma enables the patterning of waveguides with vertical-profile and smooth sidewalls.

We report that offset filtering in optical MSK narrowband frequency discrimination receiver offers significant improvement in receiver sensitivity. Detection of 40 Gb/s optical MSK signals is shown robust to a residual dispersion tolerance of up to plusmn595 ps/nm.

This paper presents an implement of a broadband clock phase alignment (CPA) for burst mode data recovery deployed in passive optical networks (PON) which are designed to deliver gigabit data rates to the home. A fast and robust CPA has been designed and demonstrated based on the over-sampling & tap-selection technique that the incoming preamble containing a repeated "1010" bit sequence is sampled with multiple clock phases and selects the phase-tap.
