Lab-scale batch experiments were conducted to investigate the biodegradation of 2-methylpyridine as sole carbon source under denitrifying conditions. Moreover, effects of pyridine and methanol on the biodegradation of 2-methylpyridine were also studied. Under denitrifying conditions, 2-methylpyridine of 100 mg/L was degraded in 13 h as sole carbon source. When pyridine was used as co-substrate with 2-methylpyridine, 2-methylpyridine degradation was inhibited, and pyridine was degraded prior to 2-methylpyridine. On the contrary, methanol promoted the degradation of 2-methylpyridine.

In this paper, damping controller for dynamic and transient control of a variable speed wind turbine is presented.the phenomenon of drive train oscillations in wind turbines is discussed. It is illustrated how the damping controller is able to reduce the oscillations of the drive train significantly and mitigate fatigue damage due to drive train oscillations. we studied the effect of damping controller on the natural frequency associated with drive train torsional oscillations and its impact on drive train damper design.

Contraposing the indeterminable problems such as fuzziness and diversification which influenced the slagging of coal ash, grey cluster decision was applied in evaluating the slagging properties of the power generation coal in the paper, combined with the fuzzy TOPSIS method. In the paper, the four indexes of T2, SiO2/Al2O3, B/A, G(the rate of Si) of 13 kinds of power generation coal were evaluated, the grade of slagging was divided into four grades which were non-slagging, slightly slagging, medium slagging and serious slagging. Then the grade standard value of coal slagging degree was obtained.

Currently, the relevant research of the influence on city’s thermal climate led by river is comparatively insufficient, which in turn blocks the way of presenting theoretical support on the correct utilization and optimization of the river of our metropolitans. This dissertation focuses on the reach of Songhua River, analyzing the images of remote sensing from 2004.1.25 to 2004.6.1, thus confirms the influence and impact led by Songhua River basing upon the distribution of temperature and humidity in summer and winter. At the same time, this also facilitates the pointing observation and moving gauge in the future.

A general problem in the double PWM converter is the voltage unbalance of the dc-link capacitors. This unbalance distorts the waveforms of the output voltage and current. Furthermore, it will lead to instability of the inverter system. Based on the analysis for the unbalance problem, a novel feedback control strategy of DC capacitor voltage deviation is proposed in this paper. The method does not add extra circuit. Build an simulation model of AC-DC-AC converter, the results show that control strategy is correct.

In the Quanzhou coastal area, groundwater plays a necessary role in domestic use, but the groundwater use does not receive enough attention by water managers up to now. As the irrational groundwater use in the recent years, groundwater quality becomes much worse. The main problems include groundwater contamination and seawater intrusion. It should be noted that existing rich faults provide the formation for mineral spring water and heat water. Aiming at the sustainable water resources utilization, the construction of emergent groundwater sources should be implemented. Other strategies include exploiting the mineral spring water and heat water for the economic purpose, reinforcing rural drinking water safety and strengthening groundwater management.

A radiative transfer model for a linearly or nonlinearly anisotropic scattering medium is developed. An arbitrary-order spherical harmonics method (PN-approximation) was presented to decompose the radiative transfer equation into a set of coupled partial differential equations which solved by the tridiagonal matrix method. By using PN-approximation formulation, the greenhouse effect from carbon dioxide on atmosphere temperature profile was simulated. The results show that the spherical harmonics method is an effective method which has any desired high-order of accuracy. The increase of carbon dioxide concentration causes the enhancement of air temperature.

We analyzed the temporal and spatial variation in water quality in the Huaihe River Basin influenced by the high level of fluctuation in rainfall and river flow in this transitional climate zone. To do so, we examined the relationship between water quality as measured by NH3-N concentrations and the precipitation and river discharge at key hydrological stations within the basin. The results indicate that flow regulation by hydraulic facilities had a significant negative effect on aquatic environment, but that including the preservation of environmental flows in management objectives could mitigate the problem. The existing hydraulic facilities should become the key tool to attain the multiple objectives that balancing the water utilization with the protection of environment and ecosystem health.

Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) is thermoplastics synthesized by bacteria under stress growth condition. In this experiment, effect of temperature on PHA accumulation is investigated. PHA is produced by activated sludge with acetate as a carbon source under imbalanced nutrition condition. Two sequencing batch reactors are operated in anaerobic-aerobic cycle with P limitation and N limitation separately, changing temperature step by step at 16¿, 19¿, 23¿, 26¿ and 29¿. The experiments’ results showed that in P limitation phase PHA was synthesized greater at 19¿ and in N limitation phase PHA was synthesized greater at 16¿, the amount of PHA yield under temperatures mentioned above were obtained at 11.76% of cell dry weight (CDW, w/w) and 28.49% of CDW(w/w) respectively, equal to 0.31mgPHA/mgCOD consumed and 0.75mgPHA/mgCOD consumed.

Using yeast cells as natural bio-templates; ZnMoO4 hollow microspheres have been successfully synthesized. The as-obtained products are characterized by SEM, XRD and FT-IR. The results showed the ZnMoO4 hollow microspheres, with the diameter ranging from 1.5μm to 2.5μm, retained the morphology of yeast templates fairly well. The as-synthesized hollow spheres are constructed from ZnMoO4 nano-particles of monoclinic phase. Furthermore, a probable mechanism for formation is proposed. Photocatalytic activity of the ZnMoO4 hollow microspheres are studied by the photocatalytic degradation of Auramine O in solution.
