The paper aims at presenting the acute toxic effect of water-accommodated fractions(WAFS) of No.0 diesel oil on HOX1 gene of Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus by PCR-SSCP. The experiment was carried out with three concentrations(2mg/L, 5mg/L, 10mg/l). The results indicated that with the increase of exposure concentration and time, the probability of mutation increased. In the four primers, single base mutation took place in coding region of the 184 in primer N-2, with the conversion of T-C, where amino acid changed from serine into proline.

Based on 3S technology, using the methods of matter quantity and value quantity, the value of soil conservation function about the woodland, grassland, garden-plot and arable land in the southern mountain region of Jinan has been calculated on the basis of land use in 1996, 2001, 2005. The results express: the value of soil conservation function lost 9363.84 million yuan from 1996 to 2001, but it increased 6641.3 million yuan from 2001 to 2005, so the value of soil conservation function lost 2722.54 million yuan from 1996 to 2005.

Articular cartilage is a thin but crucial tissue layer which plays an important role in diarthrodial joints. During the last decade, the quantitative ultrasound technique, especially the high frequency ultrasound elasticity measurement technique, called as ultrasound elastomicroscopy (UEM), has been widely employed as a versatile modality to investigate the articular cartilage. Ultrasound elastomicroscopy can measure the deformation of different layers of articular cartilage under compression, but whether the propagation of ultrasound in tissues was changed or not with the imposed load is still unknown. In this study, we developed a new optical method to validate the accuracy and reliability of the ultrasound elastomicroscopy. Layered sponge phantoms were prepared for the experiments. During the compression, both the ultrasound and optical elastomicroscopy systems were employed to record the ultrasound signals and optical images from inside and the font of the phantoms. The deformations of the phantoms from different layers were tracked from both ultrasound and optical signals and were then compared. The preliminary results suggest that the measurements of the ultrasound elastomicroscopy system could be validated.

Betacyanins from Portulaca oleracea markedly reversed the D-gal induced learning and memory impairment by behavioral tests. The activities of SOD, CAT, GPx and GR in D- galactose -treated mice were enhanced. Significant negative correlations were found between the latency to find the platform of mice and the activities of SOD, CAT GR and GPx in mice brain. These results suggest the neuroprotective effect of betacyanins against D-gal induced neurotoxicity might be caused, at least in part, by the increase in the activities of antioxidant enzymes.

One of China largest river, Songhua River was polluted due to the explosion at a PetroChina factory in Jilin province in 2005. A full scale test was carried out to investigate the removal of nitrobenzene in the raw water from polluted Songhua River. The removal and control effects of nitrobenzene by using Powered Activated Carbon (PAC) absorption and Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filtration as emergent treatments were studied. The results showed that PAC dosage could change from 30mg/L to 50mg/L according to the variation of nitrobenzene concentration in raw water. The dosing point of PAC was at the intake of water source and enough adsorption time could be guaranteed by means of the water transportation pipeline with distance of 11.9km. Full scale study results showed that the nitrobenzene concentration in intake of water plant was below 0.005mg/L after 5 hours adsorption by PAC in intake of water source which nitrobenzene concentration was between 0.03~0.35mg/L.With the GAC filtration as following treatment, nitrobenzene concentration was below 0.001mg/L in purified water. The combined emergent treatments could be used as a good method for Songhua River pollution

The coordination compound of L-hydroxyproline(Hyp)-Zn(II) was synthesized by L-Hyp and zinc sulfate as raw materials in water medium, and the coordination mechanism was studyed. IR spectra of L-Hyp-Zn(II) proved the coordination effect was produced between L-Hyp and Zn(II); 1H-NMR indicated that combination's position of L-Hyp is α-carboxyl and α-hydroxyl; Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) observation show that Zn(II) was surrounded by L-Hyp; The proportion of Hyp-Zn(II) coordination compound is 4∶1 which was determined by dialysis experiment. The molecular formula of the coordination compound is Zn(Hyp)4•H2O which was illustrated by above information.

Traditional ENG technology got the recording from the eye movement displacement parameters through contactting with skin indirectly. Modern nystagmus gets the eye movement image through video camera, then calculates the eye movement displacement parameters. Difficulties of this technology in so big noise image environment, are how to judge the accurate location of the pupil and how to measure the eye rotational angle. In this paper,we use the template matching method to solve how to juge the accurate positioning pupil in case of large noise image environment, followed by the use of mutual information in image registration to solve the problem of measuration of the eye rotational angle. We test these two methods in the simulated test images ,and the results are content.

A Nafion membrane, used as a solid polymer electrolyte, was transplanted in a zero gap cell to investigate the feasibility of a hybrid technology of RuO2-TiO2 deposition combined with the application of an external electric field. The results showed that the zero gap cell technique with Nafion membrane had an apparent additive effect on the suppressing the recombination of the photo generated charge carriers and the photocatalytic oxidation of methylene blue. It could enhance the photocatalytic efficiency from 34.6% to 87.2% at 1~3 V and 100 mA/dm2 in 30min. This system may be used as new technique to decontaminate the drinking water under visible-light.

The problem of enhancing speech degraded by uncorrelated additive noise, when only the noisy speech is available, has been widely studied in the past and it is still an active field of research. Wiener filter, which is the most fundamental approach, has been delineated in different forms and adopted in diversified applications. An improved wiener filtering algorithm is proposed in this study, which utilizes band-partitioning spectral entropy to achieve accurate and robust speech endpoint detection and a dynamic noise power spectrum is estimated for updating a priori SNR. Experimental results reveal that the proposed algorithm can extract the embedded speech segments from utterances containing a variety of background noise successfully.

Lactobacillus acidophilus La-1 was encapsulated as freeze-dried culture and its survival rates under various extreme conditions were investigated in this work. The survival rate of the freeze-dried bacteria remained at 87.1% with the viable counts of 2.26×108 cfu/mL, while keeping at pH 2.5 for 2 h, and the micronized culture was also tolerant to 6% NaCl. In 0.1% bile salt medium, the viable counts of Lactobacillus acidophilus La-1 reached to 3.39×109 cfu/mL, and it could also grow exposing to 0.5% bile salt medium. The viable counts were 9.33×107 and 1.03×108 cfu/mL, with survival rates of 44.64% and 49.28%, after keeping in simulated gastric or intestinal juice for 2 h, respectively. These results indicated that the encapsulation of Lactobacillus acidophilus La-1 as lyophilized culture could be quite effective for the bacteria to survive in extreme conditions, and the freeze-dried culture powder might be thus appropriate to be applied in foods or nutritious supplements.
