Vision-based automatic vehicle counting system using motion estimation with Taylor series approximation 基于泰勒级数近似运动估计的视觉车辆自动计数系统

Automatic tracking vehicle in urban traffic video surveillance is a challenging problem in computer vision. Although many issues have been solved, some are still unsolved, such as video surveillance problem of complex traffic intersection in congested condition. In this paper, we develop a vehicle counting system using a motion estimation with Taylor series approximation with embedded virtual entering and exiting boxes. The result shows that the system provides the counting success rate as high as 100% and the lowest counting rate is 14.29%. The mistakes are from the wrong direction prediction because of the very complex traffic condition.

Nonconvex spectral algorithm for solving BMI on the reduced order H∞ control 在降阶H∞控制下求解BMI的非凸谱算法

The design of reduced-order H∞ control can be transformed into an optimization problem with bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) constraints, which is an NP-hard problem. We propose a method to equivalently transfer the BMI constraint into a convex LMI constraint plus a matrix-rank constraint. The optimization with matrix-rank constraint is iteratively solved by a sequence of semidefinite programming (SDP) problems. Simulations on several benchmark systems show that our algorithm is practical and efficient.

Metering of surplus energy on PV systems using ZigBee Wireless Technology 基于ZigBee无线技术的光伏系统剩余能量计量

The method of collecting of Net meter readings by the Distribution Company becomes more problematic and costly when readings have to be collected from vast, and often scattered rural areas. Net Meter readers will commonly submit inaccurate estimations of the energy consumption and export energy. The main objectives of the study is to integrate the surplus energy meter of PV system using zigbee wireless technology. The study was conducted by analyzing the concept of the net metering system and the researchers focus only on measuring the surplus energy to be export. The ZigBee technology was integrated with the meter to measure and monitor the surplus energy produce by the solar panel wirelessly. The ZigBee technology is indeed a convenient way of monitoring and measuring the meter reading wirelessly since it is accurate and reliable based on its performance during the prototype testing. The PV Systems can produced an average daily surplus energy of 0.22489 kWh which can have a peso savings of 1.08835 per day. Overall, the solar panel can produce a total monthly kWh surplus energy of 7.00982 kWh with a total monthly savings of 33.73898 pesos.

An application for encouraging positive emotions by displaying an animation 通过显示动画来鼓励积极情绪的应用程序

In this paper, we describe a new application that encourages positive emotions. It recognizes facial expressions in real time, and in response to a certain facial expression, the system gives feedback by showing an animation. User's facial expressions drive animations and, animations are used to encourage positive emotions. We conducted an evaluation experiment in which participants used the application and answered a questionnaire. It was found that the application elicited positive emotions such as happiness and surprise. In the future, we plan to develop applications for encouraging positive emotions in various daily situations such as classrooms and conference rooms.

Transform of Artificial Immune System algorithm optimization based on mathematical test function 基于数学测试函数的人工免疫系统算法优化变换

Artificial Immune System (AIS) is inspired by nature biological immune system. AIS algorithm has ability to improve the global searching during optimization. However, hypermutation of AIS itself cannot always guarantee a better solution for convergence and accuracy. Therefore Genetic Algorithm (GA) has been used efficiently in solving complex optimization problems. The capability of individual algorithm can makes the new algorithm techniques more efficiency by overcome the shortcomings and without losing their own advantages. This paper demonstrates a hybrid algorithm known as Transform of Artificial Immune System (Trans-AIS) by combining AIS and GA algorithm. There are three mathematical test function are used for comparison to achieve the minimum value which are Rastrigin's, DeJong's and Griewank's functions. In this paper, the simulation of the test function results by using AIS and Trans-AIS will compare with optimization results by other researchers. By comparing the results, it is observed that the performance of Trans-AIS is comparable (if not superior) to other researchers' algorithm.

Human detection in video surveillance using texture features 视频监控中基于纹理特征的人体检测

This research presents a method for human detection at night in video surveillance camera. The process of detecting human at night is very challenging due to certain factors such as radiance, silhouette and low external light. A comparative study between three texture features that are Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) and Speeded Up Robust Feature (SURF) using Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naïve Bayes and Adaboost classifiers are investigated using primary data extracted from a video surveillance camera at the faculty. The results show that HOG feature with Naïve Bayes detect human in video surveillance better compared to DWT and SURF with SVM and AdaBoost classifiers.

Design of electronic module for OBD system in AFM for undergraduate study 本科AFM OBD系统电子模块设计

Optical beam deflection (OBD) method tends to be the preferred choice when it is to be used in an atomic force microscopy (AFM) due to its simpler setup and its cost effectiveness. By using the OBD setup, the topographic image is generated based on the cantilever deflection, which deflects the laser shone on the backside of the cantilever. In this study, electronic modules used to acquire and process the deflection signal is designed by using components that can be commonly found in undergraduate's laboratory. In the paper, the design of the electronics modules that can be implemented in an AFM for undergraduate studies is reported.

U-Arabic: Design perspective of context-aware ubiquitous Arabic vocabularies learning system 情境感知泛在阿拉伯语词汇学习系统的设计视角

Arabic vocabulary learning is in dire need for modern learning aids, especially nowadays with the advanced facilities provided by modern technologies and the high tendency of people to use these technologies such as mobile devices and smartphones in most of their life aspects. The vast amount of Arabic vocabulary, the multitude of its original and secondary meanings, differences among the ways of its writing and reading according to its position within the sentence, are the major difficulties faced by Arabic learners. This motivated us to utilize state-of-art learning technologies to design Arabic vocabulary learning system called (U-Arabic) in the form of mobile application game. This paper presents the utilization of a context-aware ubiquitous learning system that facilitated vocabulary mastering by free learners form place and time restrictions by combining entertainment with education in the same time within real learning environments through QR-Code utility. Evaluation of U-Arabic prototype was conducted using pre-post-tests on sample of non-Arabic students in Islamic elementary school. The results demonstrated that utilizing context-aware ubiquitous learning has positive impact on enhancing Arabic vocabulary learning for the selected sample.

Evaluation of U-Arabic prototype was conducted using pre-post-tests on sample of non-Arabic students in Islamic elementary school. Satellite Remote Sensing of Total Column Ozone over Peninsular Malaysia 马来西亚半岛上空臭氧总柱的卫星遥感

Total column ozone obtained from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) on board the Aura satellite was utilized to examine the spatial and temporal distribution of atmospheric ozone over Peninsular Malaysia for the year of 2015. The monthly ozone maps were obtained from the NASA-operated Giovanni portal (http://disc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/giovanni). Ozone has an inverse relationship with the rain and positive with temperature. The fluctuation in the ozone values during the Northeast monsoon and Southwest monsoon seasons was caused by the variations of the number of sunny days, the variations of the precipitation, greater cloud cover which were influenced by the effects of biomass burning in several provinces in Sumatera and Kalimantan, Indonesia, emissions from motor vehicles and trans-boundary pollution. The ozone fluctuated considerably observed between Southwest monsoon and Northeast monsoon seasons through the analysis of ozone for the desired study area. For seasonal variability, the trend of total column ozone shows a distinct seasonal pattern, with maximum in August or September and minimum in December or January. For upcoming studies, validation of satellite ozone data with in situ measurements and study of tropospheric ozone over this region is recommended.

Gamified teaching and learning platform for Christian Academy of Manila 马尼拉基督教学院游戏化教学平台

The traditional teaching and learning method has already brought good results in the students of Christian Academy of Manila; however, a new approach is welcome. This project is for a class in Christian Academy of Manila, whose educators seek to have another approach in teaching Technology and Livelihood Education. The focus is covering a specific topic which is basic electronics, which has need not only for theories but also application. The development of this new teaching and learning experience involves gamification which is the application of game elements in the academe, needing for the construction of a website and a training kit. Unit testing and usability testing was done in order to assess the platform, both the website and the training kit. Gathered data and results demonstrated the efficiency of the project by showing the correctness of every function, which led to the attainment of this project's significance.
