IDS capability in detecting an attacks is highly dependent on the accuracy of attack detection which usually is represented by the least number of false alarms. In this work we simplify the large network dataset by selecting only the most important and influential features in the dataset to increase the IDS performance and accuracy. The creation of smaller dataset is aimed to decrease time for training the SVM machine learning in detecting attacks. This work designed and built a prototype of IDS equipped with machine learning models to improve accuracy in detecting DoS and R2L attacks. Machine-learning algorithms is added to recognize specific characteristics of the attack at the national Internet network. New methods and techniques developed by combining feature selection and parameter optimization algorithm are then implemented in the Internet monitoring system. Through experiment and analysis, we find out that for DOS attacks the proposed approach improved accuracy for the detection and increased in speed on training and testing phase. Even though limited and appropriate selection of parameters slightly decrease the accuracy in the detection of R2L attacks but our approach significantly increases the speed of the training and testing process

Support vector machine is one of the most popular techniques for solving classification problems. It is known that the choice of parameters directly affects its performance. This problem can be solved using a search algorithm which is suitable optimization technique for the parameter optimization. In this research, we propose a method to determine the optimal parameters for support vector machines using the cuckoo search algorithm via maximization of the average accuracy from k-fold cross validation. Our experimental results show that the cuckoo search algorithm provides very good convergence rate and outcomes. The comparison between its performance and another population based optimization namely the particle swarm optimization is also performed. It shows that the cuckoo search algorithm yields better convergence rate and outcomes than the particle swarm optimization in most datasets. It implies that the mechanism of cuckoo search algorithm is efficient for this parameter optimization problem and is more effective than the particle swarm optimization in this particular problem.

In this paper, a system that is designed to analyze and monitor hand tremor which is to aid medical practitioners in classifying and diagnosing movement disorders in accordance to the frequency of the tremor. The tremor classifications fall into Parkinsons, Essential, and Drug Induced. Diagnosing the underlying cause of tremor does not necessarily lead to curing of the disease itself, but usually works on curing the symptom or lessening it. By maximizing the framework of the system, it can produce useful information about the tremors that is used for emergency and medical diagnosis. The tremors at least 3 Hz, at most 12 Hz can be detected. This device can be useful for the early detection of Parkinson's disease and other pathological tremors, aiding medical practitioners in terms in a time efficient way. The device can be used to monitor the progression of the tremor.

In this study, quite new method of statistical approach which is known as TST (tamsir statistical transformation) is introduced. TST is applied in order to obtain a consistence level of multi-spectral fluctuation pattern of HHF (high high-frequency). This is done because the data from the measurement results have large amount of data and have not been consistent yet. Therefore, it is essential to have quite good method to treat the data that can bridge the data processing previously. There are several parameters of the data analysis, which will be discussed, such as: the value of Total-C (total value comparison), consistence of fluctuation (CF), consistence of variance to mean ratio (C-VMR) and consistence of value (CV). Besides, the data are broken down into several groups of data. This is done because it is fruitful to seek the best group that has preferable consistence compare to others. The results obtained show that the statistical approach can determine the consistent results of data grouping for large data size. Moreover, the new approach of TST can accommodate to compute the consistence level of multi-spectral fluctuation pattern.

Voltage stability is one of the important issues in the existing power system network and in this paper presents the reactive power load management for voltage stability control in multi-area power system. Evolutionary Programming (EP) as optimization technique was employed in order to manage the load with the aim to control the voltage stability. Pre-developed Fast Voltage Stability Index (FVSI) was utilized as an instrument for voltage security assessment. Single-load and multi-load increment were performed on several loading conditions to obtain maximum reactive power loading with FVSI range from 0 to 0.95 p.u. The proposed EP optimization technique managed to outperform the traditional voltage stability assessment (VSA) approach in terms of achieving accurate results.

This paper present an analysis on in-situ particle monitor using virtual metrology system for particle contamination measurement. In the process of manufacturing semiconductor devices, detecting particle contamination in process tools is a vital factor for determining the product yield. In-situ monitoring of particle contamination can be as accurate and cost effective method of contamination control depend on type of particle monitoring sensor selection and its data used for virtual metrology. In this study, data samples are obtained from three system; Statistical Process Control (SPC) data base, Advanced Process Control (APC) data base and Hamamatsu Multiband Plasma Process Monitor system. Then, an artificial neural network based classifier called multilayer perceptron (MLP) network is applied to measure the particle contamination level from the given dataset. The performance of MLP network is compared using two different algorithms namely Levernberg-Marquad (LM) and resilient back-propagation (RP) algorithm. Based on the simulation results, it can be concluded that the MLP network using LM algorithm gives the best regression result of 0.999 and 0.54 during the training and testing respectively. The outcome of this project is in-situ particle monitor would be able to detect particle in the oxide etch chamber as alternative for Surf-scan methodology for each processed wafers.

The purpose of project is to study the effect of the eye movement activity using electrooculography technique which are open, close and blinking the eye as well as reading activity. The electrooculography is a technique that measured the corneo-retinal standing potential between front and back of the human eye. This resulting signal is called the electrooculogram (EOG). In order to collect the eye signal, the circuit is developed by Arduino Olimexino 328 circuit. The circuit is interfaced between Arduino and MATLAB software. Then, the Ag/AgCl electrodes are used to detect the EOG signal by placing the electrodes near the face. The signals are recorded and analysed based on four activities of eye movement. In this project, there are 5 subjects involve which are 2 males and 3 females. The results from these activities can be differentiated between the others signals such as upward, downward, rightward and leftward. These EOG signals can be used as a communication tools between human and machine such as wheelchair robot and rehabilitation purposes by developing the algorithm.

SOSE is a novel software development paradigm that results in flexible, loose-coupled and end-to-end applications. However, the adoption of this innovation is slowed by security challenge. Apparently, the use of only TLS (transport layer security) security technique for SOSE systems is inappropriate because it provides only point-to-point security support to the communicating parties. While, an end-to-end security mechanism is necessary to effectively secure SOSE applications. Consequently, this paper provides SNSM framework, a solution to SOSE security challenge by integrating many technologies including OASIS's web service security standard, W3C's XML digital signature and XML encryption standards into SOAP envelope to ensure end-to-end security at the message level. In the implementation of the framework, proxy service, a virtual service hosted in the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) was used to enforce security services as a Quality of service (QOS) requirement. The results show that SNSM framework recorded 10 millisecond average response time above unsecured service, whereas, the TLS secured service has the largest average response time.

This paper presents the coupling of finite element method (FEM) with smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) to simulate the impact in hydrodynamic ram (HRAM). The main objective was to determine the pressure history by specific particle, which was a new point of view in HRAM study. Commonly, pressure history was obtained by many particles which located at the same location but at different time. Fragment simulating projectile (FSP) with velocity of 972 m/s was employed to impact water-filled tank. For validation purpose, two parameters i.e. mode of failure and wall deformation were employed. Good agreement was observed. On top of pressure history result, pressure and location of the particle at various times were presented.

Recent technological advances has made knee orthosis to become a robotic device known as powered knee orthosis (PKO). This paper describes the design and development of PKO which have high torque and high back-drive-ability. Both criteria are the most important things in designing a PKO to avoid control issues. There are many existing design of PKO, especially the main part of the design which is knee actuator. Outrunner type of brushless DC motor (BLDCM) as an actuator was used to give an external power to the user during knee flexion or extension. This device capable of assisting knee movement but feels transparent during movement. Simple preliminary shank lifting experiment tested on one healthy subject, was conducted and observed. Thus the approached PKO can lift the subject's leg during actuator on with highly back drivable during actuator off.
