The 3-mm wavelength phase-meter system for motion characteristics' remote measurement is presented being based on dielectric passive structures and the dielectric waveguide antenna-feeder system. It operates on the basis of radiointerferometry principles. Some experimental results illustrating its applications are presented.

The present paper concerns the feasibility of applying a combination of Gaussian particle filter and an interactive multimode filter for mutual detection and tracking of a small maneuvering target. We propose using two models: one with a constant velocity, another with a constant acceleration. Filters, corresponding to each of those models, employ Gaussian particle filter. Numerical modeling results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is capable of detecting a maneuvering target at low signal-to-noise ratio.

The present paper concerns the experimental study of parameters of a resonance converter included in the measuring circuit. It is shown that the character of change of the main information signals of the converter (Q and resonance frequency) depends on the parameters of the object of diagnosis, due to changes in ignition mode of the converter in the measuring circuit. Thus, the measuring data signals do not adequately reflect the changes of parameters of the investigated objects, and this fact shall be considered when analyzing the results of measurements.

The results of ultrawideband power detectors development are presented. Detectors are designed as microwave monolithic integrated circuits (MMICs) produced with use of “Micran”'s GaAs zero-biased diode technology. Several detecting paths and series diode stacks are used for dynamic range expansion. MMICs provide signal detection in dynamic range of 70 dB in frequency band from 0 to 50 GHz.

The paper describes experiments on beyond-the-horizon very high and microwave wave propagation over the North-East part of the Black Sea. The experiments took place in the 30-70th of the XX century. The experiments provided better understanding of the mechanisms of the far wave propagation over the sea surface, accumulating the data base with information concerning the signals' attenuation factor, space-temporal distribution and frequency-selective fading. The results of these experiments helped to work out the methods of attenuation factor prognosis and gave recommendations for synthesis of adaptive radars.

The main results of the IAP RAS activity at the powerful pulse THz gyrotrons are presented. The power about 200 kW at the frequency of 0.67 THz in single impulses with durations of 30 microseconds has been reached. This gyrotron is successfully used to initiate localized (characteristic size in the order about 1 mm) discharge in gases. The models describing the dynamics of discharge initiated by THz radiation are under development. New experimental facility for long pulse or CW gyrotrons in frequency band 0.28-0.52 THz has been build based on helium-free 10 T cryomagnet.
