This paper presents the results of the simulation component of the Poynting vector of the main mode of a three-layer-round waveguide. The middle layer is a LHM (Left-Handed-Medium) metamaterial with a negative refractive index. In a waveguide with LHM layer inversion of the radial component of the Poynting vector is observed.

The effective permittivity of a planar dielectric layer with cylindrical holes arranged in a hexagonal lattice is determined by a hybrid projective method with using the concept of a layer of half-wavelength thickness. Some results obtained for different values of the layer material permittivity, hole spacing, hole diameter, angle of incidence of the wave and polarization of the latter are presented.

A method for the characterization of dielectrics allowing simultaneous measuring of relaxation, conduction losses and dielectric nonlinearity at the short-pulse impact is proposed. In this case we may evaluate the function of the instantaneous power loss versus time. An example of practical measurement of characteristics of two capacitors with very different relaxation losses is given.

The technology for creation of schungite-containing electromagnetic screens based on fibrebonded fabric was developed. The paper presents the study of reflection and transmission electromagnetic radiation coefficients' frequency dependences for 0.7-17 GHz range. Schungite-containing electromagnetic screen based on fibrebonded fabric has transmission coefficient about 10 dB and reflection coefficient within -8... -20 dB.

The present paper concerns the synthesis of dielectric planar radiators field amplitude-phase distribution (APD) based on multimode rectangular dielectric waveguide proper waves and the method of required modes set realization for the synthesis of field APD described with the model of Gauss-Hermite zero order beam. The solving of the mentioned problems makes it possible to construct the radiators for diagnostics of moving objects in the near-field region with the use of a multichannel EHF radiointerferometer.

The effects of the resonance scattering of centimeter range radio waves due to changes in long wave slopes of the sea surface are analyzed. We obtained estimates of the energy impact of wavelengths, as well as distribution deviations of sea surface slopes from Gaussian distribution. It has been shown that the presence of long wavelength may result in increase of the effective backscatter cross section of 50% with a horizontal polarization and 35% in the vertical polarization.

The vector integral-differential equation to describe electromagnetic waves propagation in nanowaveguides and photonic crystals containing thin metal layers is developed. The exact solution of the equation is obtained with Galerkin method taking into account complex dielectric permittivity of metals in the optical range. A simple method to find out complex effective refractive index for low-loss waveguide structures is developed and proved. Surface plasmon-polariton (SPP) waves were simulated in the structures under consideration.
