The purpose of this study was to examine the associations between meeting recommendations for 24-hour movement behaviors, parental academic support, and student academic achievement in a sample of Alaskan adolescents. Data were obtained from the 2019 Alaska Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS; N = 1,897; mean age = 15.8 ± 1.3 years old). The associations between meeting recommendations for the 24-hour movement behaviors of physical activity, screen use, and sleep with high academic achievement (mostly A’s and B’s) were examined using weighted multivariable logistic regressions. Subpopulation analyses determined if associations differed by levels of parental academic support. Approximately 18.8% of the sample met PA recommendations, 70% met screen use recommendations, and 24.6% met sleep recommendations. Parents providing everyday academic support are associated with higher odds of an adolescent reporting mostly A’s and B’s (OR = 2.03, p < .001). Meeting screen use recommendations associated with high academic achievement in adolescents with less than every day pa-rental academic support (OR = 1.87, p = .001) and meeting sleep recommendations associated with high academic achievement in adolescents with less than every day (OR = 2.20, p = .005) and every day (OR = 1.77, p = .038) parental academic support. Meeting PA recommendations did not associate with high academic achievement. These findings elucidate the complexity of these interrelationships but warrant additional longitudinal investigation.

The overall aim for this study was to create and validate an instrument that helps researchers measure and better understand classroom teachers’ efficacy toward providing physical activity throughout the school day. The development of the Teacher Efficacy Toward Providing Physical Activity in the Classroom Scale (TETPPACS) occurred in two phases. First, in study one, after item development and face validity review, an exploratory factor analysis was conducted with pilot data (N = 320) to discover the factor structure of the TETPPACS. Second, with a follow-up sample (N = 192), a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed to confirm the factor structure and measurement quality of the instrument. The final bi-factor model with three efficacy-specific constructs and the general efficacy construct resulted in an acceptable fitting two-group configural model across elementary and high school teachers ( =363.791; CFI=.91; TLI=.87; SRMR=.066; RMSEA=.081). The results of this study suggest the new TETPPACS is a valid and reliable instrument to measure classroom teacher’s efficacy toward providing physical activity during the school day. This instrument can help researchers further investigate how teacher efficacy relates to implementation and facilitation of physical activity experiences throughout the school day.

Life satisfaction is an overall cognitive evaluation of an individual's living condition for the most of time or over a certain period of time according to the standard of one’s own choice. It is an important psychological variable in the developmental stage of children and adolescents. Some studies had shown that life satisfaction was closely related to children's and adolescents' mental health levels, including their emotional and behavioral conditions. However, the Blue Book for Children: China Children's Development Report (2020) published by China Children's Center stated that Chinese students did not fare well in terms of life satisfaction. Previous studies had indicated that physical exercise was an important factor that had a positive effect on life satisfaction, as well as on self-confidence and resilience. Also, there is a correlation between self-confidence, resilience, and life satisfaction. Nonetheless, few studies have researched the role of self-confidence and resilience in the impact of physical exercise on the life satisfaction of primary school students. To explore the mediating role of self-confidence and resilience between physical exercise and life satisfaction, in order to provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for how to effectively promote life satisfaction and psychological well-being of primary school students in the practice of physical exercise. Group measurements of 1009 students (519 boys and 490 girls; 576 fifth graders and 433 sixth graders) are carried out by using the Scale of Physical Exercise Level, Children and Adolescent Self-Confidence Scale, Children and Adolescent Life Satisfaction Scale, and Adolescent Resilience Scale, and Structural Equation Model and Bootstrap are used to analyze the mediating effect of self-confidence and resilience. The results reveal that there is a positive correlation between physical exercise and life satisfaction(r=0.218), but the effect on life satisfaction is not significant (P=0.516); the indirect effect of physical exercise on life satisfaction consists of two paths: physical exercise to self-confidence to life satisfaction (95% CI: 0.128,0.267); physical exercise to self-confidence to resilience to life satisfaction (95% CI:0.109,0.209). It is concluded that physical exercise has an indirect but significant effect on primary school students' life satisfaction--the independent mediating effect of self-confidence and the chain mediation effect of self-confidence and resilience. The study further confirms that physical exercise can promote students' self-confidence levels and the formation of tenacious psychological quality, thus improving their life satisfaction levels. Therefore, society, schools and families should pay close attention to the positive effects of physical exercise on primary school students’ emotional and behavioral conditions.

The mental health of college students is an increasingly serious public health problem. Effective and healthy interventions are needed. More and more research has been conducted on yoga, but there are few randomized controlled trials (RTC) on effects of yoga intervention on students' mental health. Therefore, this study examined effects of quality of yoga intervention on mental health in college students. We used PubMed (Medline), Cochrane, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP) and WanFang Database to search randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of yoga intervention in college students' mental health. After the screening, 17 articles met the requirements and were included along with the utilization of the Cochrane bias risk assessment tool Rob2.0 to evaluate the quality of the included articles. Of 17 articles reviewed, three articles were rated as "low risk of bias", five articles were rated as "possibly at risk of bias", and nine articles were rated as "high risk of bias". The 17 studies predominantly consist of low methodological quality and lack multi-centered, large-sample collaborative research. Almost all researchers mentioned the use of "randomization" in their articles, but they did not indicate which randomization method was used. There was no description of allocation concealment, blinding, case shedding, case follow-up etc., and it was impossible to judge whether the trial design was correct, or whether random grouping was, indeed, undertaken. This study found that most of the so-called "randomized controlled trials" are doubtful, which virtually reduces the strength and credibility of this study. Therefore, improving the research quality of yoga intervention and standardizing the writing of scientific research articles are the problems need to be solved in the current field of sports psychology research in China. Current evidence shows that yoga exercise can relax the body and mind, thereby improving the level of mental health, and complete yoga (exercise, breathing, meditation) significantly relieves the symptoms of depression. Performing yoga postures and exercises promotes blood circulation, effectively improves sleep, and regulates breathing to stabilize autonomic nerves, relieve stress, and eliminate mental tension. In the future, yoga practice can be used as a non-medical intervention to treat mental illness. The quality of the current randomized controlled trials of yoga intervention in the mental health of college students is generally low. Randomized controlled trials with reasonable methodological design, strict implementation, and sufficient follow-up time are still needed. It is recommended that researchers should strengthen the systematic study of clinical trial methodology and strictly refer to the Cochrane manual list for clinical research reports in order to improve the quality of literature reports.

Influence of Physical Activity on Heart Rate Variability in Physically Inactive Adults

This meta-analysis aimed to examine the influences of physical activity (PA) interventions on heart rate variability (HRV) among healthy but physically inactive adults aged 18 to 65 years old. PubMed, SPORTDiscus and Web of Science online databases were searched in September 2021. The eligibility criteria were: (1) peer-reviewed articles in English; (2) randomized controlled trials; (3) healthy but physically inactive adults aged 18 to 65 years; (4) at least two-week PA intervention; (5) available frequency domain result. The data were extracted to a pre-designed form. The primary outcome of this study was the frequency domain of HRV, which included natural log-transformed total power, low frequency and high frequency (lnTP, lnLF and lnHF), normalized units of LF and HF (LFnu and HFnu), and LF/HF ratio. Pooled estimates of differences and 95% confidence intervals (CI) between the PA intervention group (IG) and control group (CG) were obtained using random-effects models. Six studies were identified in the meta-analysis. There was no significant difference between IG and CG in lnTP (SMD: 0.16, 95% CI: [-0.28, 0.60], p = 0.48), lnLF (SMD: -0.04, 95% CI: [-0.34, 0.42], p = 0.84), lnHF (SMD: 0.03, 95% CI: [-0.23, 0.29], p = 0.81) and LF/HF ratio(MD: -0.21, 95% CI: [-0.48, 0.07], p = 0.14). The results indicated that the LFnu in IG was significantly lower than that in CG (MD: -3.41, 95% CI: [-5.09, -1.73], p < 0.01) while HFnu in IG was significantly higher than that in CG (MD: 3.39, 95% CI: 1.72, 5.07], p < 0.01). The increased HFnu and decreased LFnu after PA interventions indicated a more balanced autonomic nervous system. HRV may be a mediator between PA intervention and other health benefits. The measurements of HRV were inconsistent and increased the variation between studies. The sample sizes of IG or CG in the included studies were small (range from 9 to 26), which limited the power to detect significant differences. This study did not analyze the influence of dose-response and different types of PA interventions due to the limited number of eligible studies. The current evidence suggested that PA interventions benefit HRV in healthy but physically inactive adults aged 18 to 65 years old. Future research with a larger sample size is needed to confirm our findings.

PubMed, SPORTDiscus and Web of Science online databases \u0000 were searched in September 2021. The eligibility criteria were: (1) peer-reviewed articles in English; (2) randomized controlled \u0000 trials; (3) healthy but physically inactive adults aged 18 to 65 years; (4) at least two-week PA intervention; (5) available \u0000 frequency domain result. The data were extracted to a pre-designed form. The primary outcome of this study was the frequency \u0000 domain of HRV, which included natural log-transformed total power, low frequency and high frequency (lnTP, lnLF and lnHF), normalized \u0000 units of LF and HF (LFnu and HFnu), and LF/HF ratio. Pooled estimates of differences and 95% confidence intervals (CI) between the \u0000 PA intervention group (IG) and control group (CG) were obtained using random-effects models. Six studies were identified in the \u0000 meta-analysis. There was no significant difference between IG and CG in lnTP (SMD: 0.16, 95% CI: [-0.28, 0.60], p = 0.48), \u0000 lnLF (SMD: -0.04, 95% CI: [-0.34, 0.42], p = 0.84), lnHF (SMD: 0.03, 95% CI: [-0.23, 0.29], p = 0.81) \u0000 and LF/HF ratio(MD: -0.21, 95% CI: [-0.48, 0.07], p = 0.14). The results indicated that the LFnu in IG was \u0000 significantly lower than that in CG (MD: -3.41, 95% CI: [-5.09, -1.73], p < 0.01) while HFnu in IG was \u0000 significantly higher than that in CG (MD: 3.39, 95% CI: 1.72, 5.07], p < 0.01). The increased HFnu and \u0000 decreased LFnu after PA interventions indicated a more balanced autonomic nervous system. HRV may be a mediator between PA \u0000 intervention and other health benefits. The measurements of HRV were inconsistent and increased the variation between studies. \u0000 The sample sizes of IG or CG in the included studies were small (range from 9 to 26), which limited the power to detect significant \u0000 differences. The Development of College Ice Hockey in China
Pub Date : 2022-02-01 DOI: 10.18122/ijpah.020125.boisestate
Hongxin Li, Yunru Bai
After winning the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, ice hockey has become more popular in colleges in China. However, the challenges to college hockey’s development in China are not surprising as new markets tend to experience struggles due to the fluidity of logics (Thornton & Ocasio, 2008) and issues of establishing legitimacy (Deephouse & Suchman, 2008). Considering this, those hoping to establish new sport institutions within untapped contexts are burdened with the arduous task of simultaneously creating and maintaining institutional structures while working to establish legitimacy (Washington, 2004). In this study, we draw from the concept of institutional work to understand how Chinese collegiate administrations and other relevant stakeholders have created, built, and sustained the emergent ice hockey environment for universities in China. This inquiry was guided by the following research questions: what factors at various institutional levels influenced the development of college ice hockey in China? How did institutional leaders utilize Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics to leverage the development of college ice hockey? To answer these questions, we employed qualitative case study methodology. Primary data were collected through 18 semi-structured interviews with university faculty, student athletes, and administrative officials. Secondary data were collected via archived documents from numerous sources. Data analysis was consistent with the Gioia methodology, wherein we identified first-order concepts, second-order themes, and aggregate theoretical dimensions (Gioia, Corley, & Hamilton, 2012). Preliminary findings suggest the development of college ice hockey in China has framed the development model with opportunities and multiple resources. Organizing capability, the hockey infrastructure, and legitimating issues impacted the development of college ice hockey. The 2022 Winter Olympics is a good opportunity for developing college ice hockey and it is bringing in additional funding and support to college hockey teams and athletes. The development of college ice hockey in China always combines with nationalism, and some student athletes also represent the national team for China. In addition, youth ice hockey development in Beijing and Heilongjiang is providing ice hockey talents for the college hockey teams around China. College ice hockey in China was facing challenges in an environment from different institutional logic orders. This study provides insights into the relationship among the nationalism, Olympics, and the development of winter sport in college. Additionally, this research outlined how public and private actors may work to create new governance structures that may be seen as legitimate.

The requirement of "building a higher-level National Fitness Public Service system centering on meeting the needs of the people" by the Chinese State Council is to guarantee and satisfy the demand of public through effective supply. However, despite of the clear purpose of the task, there is still a gap between the actual and the expected status of National Fitness Public Service supply. Based on the characteristics of the perspective of space, the purpose of this study is to examine how to measure and achieve the effectiveness of National Fitness Public Service’s supply. By reviewing the literature, relevant results of the performance evaluation system of National Fitness Public Service are sorted to provide theoretical support for the value orientation, index selection and other processes of the evaluation system constructed in this study. Current regulations on National Fitness Public Service in various fields in China are classified, and representative indicators are compared, analyzed, and summarized as the reference basis for evaluation standards. The value orientation of the evaluation system is shown in three levels in the spatial dimension: "ensuring spatial justice", "adapting to spatial needs" and "building value consensus". The spatial evaluation system is constructed based on the three-dimensional evaluation dimensions of "supply capacity", "behavioral demand" and "The degree of spatial coupling", this evaluation system comprehensively reflects the subjective and objective evaluation results. The study shows that when exploring reasons for insufficient effectiveness, factors should be analyzed from both of supply and demand sides. The evaluation results of the evaluation system are characterized by being Relative and Developmental. The evaluation results should be based on the relative effectiveness results produced by comparison, and absolute judgment should be avoided. The relative evaluation results focus on finding the elements, links and mechanisms with deficiencies, avoid stopping at the judgment of pros and cons, and should promote self-perfection, stimulate self-innovation and finally achieve the goal of self-development.

This paper explored the restrictive factors of realizing the integration of sports and medicine in China under the background of “COVID-19 pandemic” and analyzed the path of realizing the integration of sports and medicine by combining it with “Healthy China” strategy and “National Fitness Program”. We used document and expert interview method. In the new era, people’s desire for a better life has become the most extensive demand, and the sudden outbreak of epidemic makes people’s demand for health become the first demand. The importance of people’s health raises “Healthy China” as the national development strategy, which has become the opportunities to realize the “integration of sports and medicine”. At present, China has formed three “sports-medical integration” models: the combination of the government and the market, the fitness guidance center of the hospital and the physique monitoring center of the community. Among them, the model of community physique monitoring center is in line with China's national conditions, but the development of this model still needs policy and financial support. At present, China’s “integration of sports and medicine” is still facing a few challenges: a) The conceptual understanding remains weak while the belief to medical treatment and negligence of sports is strong; b) There is lack of standards of sports knowledge and skills, so it is difficult to reach a consensus; c) The sports and medicine industry has a low level of integration and lacks an integrated environment. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is not only a challenge but also an opportunity to realize the integration of sports and medicine. At present, with the support of national strategy, “integration of sports and medicine” is in the best historical development opportunity. At the same time, however, it also faces a series of contradictions. In this regard, it is necessary to deepen the essence of the two to carry out conceptual innovation and enhance the national recognition of the functional value of “sports-medicine integration”. Strategies include cooperating with sports medicine institutions to build a service platform, strengthening the integration of sports and medicine disciplines while building a qualification certification system and cultivating comprehensive talents, and improving the environment of “integration of sports and medicine” with building the foundation of harmonious symbiosis.

Exercise Prescription in Patient with Different Complications of Leukemia
Pub Date : 2022-02-01 DOI: 10.18122/ijpah.020104.boisestate

Common treatment of leukemia will have side effects on nerve function, affecting the patient's physical function, which makes patients often accompanied by infection, bone and joint pain, fatigue and other symptoms. Exercise can improve the level of body function, enable patients to tolerate stronger chemotherapy during treatment, help improve the survival rate and recovery chances of patients, and has been used as an effective means to promote recovery. Recommendations for leukemia and exercise have been primarily based on the results of existing relevant studies. To provide more targeted recommendations for the leukemia, we gathered evidence for the efficacy of exercise for leukemia, and concluded with recommendations for exercise prescription for the rehabilitation of patients with leukemia during and after chemotherapy. We used "leukemia", "exercise" as keywords, retrieving related literatures in CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, PubMed and Web of Science databases by December 20, 2021. Based on the analysis of research methods and outcome indicators, we extracted the exercise prescription for leukemia patients. Relative safe and effective exercise prescriptions were obtained for leukemia patients. For example, for patients with cardiopulmonary injury, a 6-minute walk can be more safely used for testing, aerobic exercise can be performed for 3-5 days/week, and each exercise time can be gradually increased from 10min to more than 30min. Also, it may be more effective to replace HHR (40%~59%) with RPE (12~13) for their intensity monitoring. Therapeutic exercise, especially with an element of strengthening combined with aerobic training, is an efficacious treatment for leukemia. Notably, with the development of technology, the ways of exercise available are diversifying, many complementary training methods such as Spotlight program, Team works, are also effective. At the same time, multi-mode, remote and home interventions are becoming more and more popular, providing a new direction for patient prognosis. However, the prescription recommendations are only for practical reference. There are insufficient high quality studies on exercise rehabilitation and prescription for patients with leukemia and various complications, and more research support is needed to develop more accurate exercise prescription.
此外,用RPE(12~13)代替HHR(40%~59%)对其强度监测可能更有效。

Notably, with the development of technology, the ways of exercise available are diversifying, many complementary training methods such as Spotlight program, Team works, are also effective. At the same time, multi-mode, remote and home interventions are becoming more and more popular, providing a new direction for patient prognosis. However, the prescription recommendations are only for practical reference. There are insufficient high quality studies on exercise rehabilitation and prescription for patients with leukemia and various complications, and more research support is needed to develop more accurate exercise prescription.

School education has focused on the fields of students’ literacy instead of specific subjects. The cultivation of physical literacy (PL) is gaining more and more attention in western countries, but few studies on this topic were found in China. The purpose of this research was to unfold the experience of Welsh adolescent PL and to provide enlightenment to China. This study analyzed the cultivation of Welsh adolescents’ PL through literature, logical analysis, and semi-structured interviews with eleven experts. The constant comparative method was used to analyze interview transcripts for common themes. During analysis, triangulation, negative case checks, member checks, and an extensive peer review were used. The findings revealed a) reasons that accelerating the development of adolescent PL in Wales include the national health crisis, inequalities in the health rights caused by the gap between rich and poor, and the changes of school physical education values. b) The strategies to cultivate Welsh adolescents’ PL include (1) following the law of physical and mental development of adolescents to strengthen the continuity of the training process; (2) supporting the development of adolescents’ motor skills with the efforts of schools, communities, and families; (3) emphasizing the peer effects of students with excellent PL; (4) providing financial support and opportunities for poor students to participate in sports activities. c) Successful experiences in promoting adolescents’ PL in Welsh schools are (1) taking physical education as the national core curriculum; (2) adopting comprehensive interdisciplinary learning instead of traditional school specific subjects; (3) establishing positive play-based learning environment. This study shows that Wales has gained a lot of experience and success in developing PL among young people, thus can shed light to the development of PL in Chinese adolescents. In the future, China should develop strategies for vulnerable groups’ PL, integrate PL cultivation into the school physical education curriculum, and support subject integration for students’ PL. School, community, and family should strengthen their cooperation to develop adolescents’ PL.
