This study aimed to assess the effect of adding non-roasted and roasted amaranth flour to yogurt at a dose of 5 g per 100 mL on the approximate composition, storage stability, texture and sensory evaluation of yogurt. Yogurt without supplementation was used as control. The products were evaluated for moisture, carbohydrate, protein, fat, ash and mineral content. In order to assess the rheological properties, the following indicators of PH, acidity and syneresis of yogurts were measured after 1, 7, 15 days of storage. To analyse and evaluate such indicators of yogurts as color, texture, taste, aroma and overall acceptability, ten faculty members used a hedonistic scale. The results showed that samples with supplements were significantly higher in protein, carbohydrate and fat. Thus, the study arrived that yogurt from goat's milk could be used. However, adding more than 5 g 100 mL non-roasted amaranth flour had undesirable effect on gel stability (increasing of total acidity and syneresis). Still, adding roasted amaranth flour increased sensory properties: Improved aroma and gave a nutty taste to the finished product.

Classification and Regression Tree (CART) is a predictive algorithm method used to explains how the dependent variable can be predicted using independent variables (numerical and characters). The study was conducted to investigate the relationship between body weight and morphometric traits (Body Length (BL), Heart Girth (HG), Rump Height (RH), Rump Width (RW), Ear Length (EL), Cannon Circumference (CC) and Head Width (HW)) and to estimate body weight from morphometric traits in yearling Boer goats. In addition, age and sex were also considered. A total of seventy-one (71) yearling Boer goats (female = 57 and male = 14) between the age of one year and two years old were used. Pearson correlation and CART were used for data analysis. Correlation results indicated that BW of female goats was highly positive significant at (P<0.01) with HG (r =0.828) and BL (r = 0.621) and consistently positively correlated at (P<0.05) with RH (r = 0.558) and HW (r = 0.512), while BW of male goats was highly positive significant at (P<0.01) with BL (r = 0.727), CC (r = 0.642), HG (r = 0.564), RW (r = 0.361) and EL (r = 0.340) and consistently positively significant at (P<0.05) correlated with RH (r = 0.317). CART findings showed that sex played a crucial role on body weight of yearling Boer goats. Correlation results suggest that morphometric traits of yearling Boer goats might be used to improve body weight. CART model developed in this study could be used by breeders to advice resource-limited Boer goats’ farmers which morphometric traits they can use to select their animals in order to improve their herd. However, further studies need to be done to validate the use of CART in prediction of body weight from morphometric traits of yearling Boer goats using large sample size, different area or other goat breeds.

The success of artificial insemination highly depends on the semen quality, in which it may significantly associate with the environmental factor. However, the information regarding the seasonal effects on semen quality of Pasundan bulls is still scarce. This study aimed to examine seasonal variation in semen quality of Pasundan bulls in their native environment. A total of 203 ejaculates produced by two Pasundan bulls aged at four years old were used in this study. The bulls were kept under standard management conditions in Lembang Artificial Insemination Center. The results showed that mean values of semen volume, sperm concentration, total sperm number, individual sperm motility, post-thawing sperm motility and frozen semen production of Pasundan bulls were 5.7 mL, 1.17 billion/ml, 6.57 billion/ejaculate, 62.1,0 40.6 and 272% doses/ejaculate, respectively. Semen volume, individual sperm motility and post-thawing sperm motility were not affected by different seasons (P>0.05). Whereas, the significant reduction of sperm concentration (P<0.05), total sperm number (P<0.01) and frozen semen production (P<0.01) were observed in the dry season as compared to the rainy season. The minor change in ambient temperature, maximum ambient temperature, relative humidity and temperature-humidity index were detected between seasons. On the other hand, about 52% greater sunshine duration was detected in the dry season compared to the rainy season. In conclusion, the semen quality of Pasundan bulls is reduced during the dry season, which is considerably associated with the increase in sunshine duration.

The research method used an experimental method with a factorial randomized block design (3×3) with three repetitions for mineral P and S. P was the first factor with three dose levels, namely Po = 0.0%, P1 = 0.27% and P2 = 0.54. The second factor is mineral S with 3 levels: So = 0.0%, S1 = 0.2% and S2 = 0.4%. The parameters measured were rumen fluid profile and nutrient digestibility. The results showed the interaction of P and S minerals on the APLF had no significant effect (P>0.05) on pH, VFA and digestibility of hemicellulose but had a significant effect (P<0.05) on NH3, digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, NDF, ADF and cellulose. In conclusion, the quality of ammoniated palm leaves and fronds can be improved by the addition of mineral dosage P 0.27 S 0.4%.

Total diets, which included 70% hay from Guinea grass or ammoniated hay from leaves of the babassu palm were used. Twenty male goats in metabolic cages, were fed the above diets, with water and a mineral mixture at will. Mixed-model statistical analysis was adopted, with treatments consisting of the diets and the methods for evaluating faecal DM excretion and apparent DM digestibility. The diets were tested by linear regression and t-test to compare the mean values for faecal DM excretion and DM digestibility by total collection and internal indicators. The source of fibre in diets with a high proportion of bulk had an influence (P<0.05) on the estimation of faecal DM excretion and DM digestibility. The DMi NDFi, ADFi and LIGi indicators were recovered efficiently from the faeces and were effective in estimating faecal DM excretion by goats fed 33% hay from leaves of the babassu palm ammoniated with 4% urea as a replacement for Guinea-grass hay. The DMi, NDFi and ADFi indicators are accurate in estimating faecal DM excretion and DM digestibility in goat diets containing fibrous ammoniated hay from leaves of the babassu palm.

Twenty male goats in metabolic cages, were fed the above diets, with water and a mineral mixture at will. Mixed-model statistical analysis was adopted, with treatments consisting of the diets and the methods for evaluating faecal DM excretion and apparent DM digestibility. The diets were tested by linear regression and t-test to compare the mean values for faecal DM excretion and DM digestibility by total collection and internal indicators. The source of fibre in diets with a high proportion of bulk had an influence (P<0.05) on the estimation of faecal DM excretion and DM digestibility. The DMi NDFi, ADFi and LIGi indicators were recovered efficiently from the faeces and were effective in estimating faecal DM excretion by goats fed 33% hay from leaves of the babassu palm ammoniated with 4% urea as a replacement for Guinea-grass hay. Four treatments were distributed, each one with 20 animals, regardless of sex for a total of 80 pigs, starting at 49 days of age and ending the experiment at 105 days, considering each pig as an experimental unit. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, with the following treatments: Treatment 1, control (T1), to which a commercial diet was administered, T2, T3, T4 to which 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75% of the dehydrated P. amboinicus was added to the commercial diet, respectively. For data analysis, the statistical program Statgraphics Centurion XV.I ® was used, applying a one factor Analysis (ANOVA) and to establish the differences between the means obtained, the procedure of the multiple comparison of Bonferroni was used with a 95% level of confidence, the variables evaluated were: Live weight gain and accumulated feed consumption in kg, feed conversion, mortality in percentage, total microbial flora and total coliforms in CFU. The results showed that, for the variables of productive parameters, there is no statistically significant difference, although there is a difference for the variables of total coliforms and total microbial flora when compared with T1, especially at the end of the experiment. As a conclusion there is an effect at the level of the antibacterial response, showing a positive correlation, the higher the percentage of dehydrated P. amboinicus included the greater efficacy in the control of CFUs. No mortality was found during this experiment.
