We studied visual outcome and posterior capsular opacification (PCO) following implantation of hydrophilic acrylic and silicone multifocal lenses in 29 eyes who underwent uneventful phacoemulsification. Both the multifocal IOLs provide satisfactory distant and near vision in the majority of the patients, however tripod acrylic hydrophobic IOL has higher rate of PCO, jeopardizing visual performance.

Subperiosteal orbital hematomas are uncommon. The delayed presentation of such an event is described in an anticoagulated patient who attempted self-strangulation. Despite the initial presence of a relative afferent pupillary defect, excellent visual recovery occurred, demonstrating the importance of prompt recognition and treatment. The causes, mechanism of visual loss, radiographic diagnosis, and treatment of subperiosteal hemorrhages are discussed.

We present an article on asymptomatic tuberculous choroiditis on screening. Discussions also include the manifestations, relevant investigations and management of ocular tuberculosis. Clinicians should be aware of these findings when treating such patients.

Methanol is a potent toxic substance for the optic nerves. Even small amounts of ingested methanol can acute permanent neurological dysfunction and irreversible blindness. Methanol intoxication can cause severe visual dysfunction and death. We present a case of a 25 years old admitted to our clinic with bilateral optical atrophy after drinking eau de cologne.

We investigated intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection for the treatment of macular edema due to central retinal vein occlusion in 20 patients. Mean central macular thickness at 3 days, 1, 3, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months postoperatively was different than baseline. Visual acuity did not change. Intravitreal triamcinolone injection significantly improves short-term anatomy, but recurrences and steroid-related complications were noted in the longer term.

We describe a case of internal carotid artery dissection, an important cause of ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Presentations include a headache, which is usually unilateral to the side of carotid dissection, sharp, nonthrobbing in nature with radiation from the neck. The clinical presentations, investigations, and treatment of the disease are discussed.

Wolfram syndrome (WFS) is a rare diffuse neurodegenerative disorder characterized by diabetes insipidus, diabetes mellitus, optic atrophy, deafness, and a wide variety of central nervous system abnormalities. Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus with optic nerve atrophy is sufficient criteria for the diagnosis. WFS is a devastating disease for the patients and their families. This study emphasizes the need for careful evaluation of cases having insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and optic atrophy.
