The slit lamp can be a source of cross infection in the clinic setting. We identified the bacteria flora on slit lamps and determined the risk of transmission to patients. Frequent cleaning of the slit lamp especially after treating infected cases can decrease the transmission of organisms.

We present two cases of delayed optic nerve complications following proton beam radiotherapy. Patient 1 received radiotherapy after surgery for clival chordoma and developed sequential radiation optic neuropathy at 5 and 9 months. Patient 2 developed optic nerve hemorrhage post radiotherapy for optic nerve sheath meningioma. These two cases of blindness demonstrate the risks associated with proton beam radiotherapy.

A 79-year-old woman underwent phacoemulsification/ aspiration with a hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens in the left eye. The intra-operative course was uneventful. Brownish discoloration of the lens optics was noted 16 months postoperatively. To our knowledge, the late discoloration of a hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens has not previously been reported.

We report a case of postoperative uveitis-glaucome-hyphema (UGH) syndrome following pediatric cataract surgery due to posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC-IOL). Slit-lamp examination revealed the optic of PC-IOL migrated into anterior chamber. The PC-IOL explantation was performed and ocular inflammation subsided.

We assessed the long-term clinical outcomes and evaluate the safety, efficacy and stability of anterior ciliary sclerotomy with collagen T-shaped implants in 19 patients. The study revealed that anterior ciliary sclerotomy with collagen T-shaped implants for the treatment of presbyopia is a safe procedure, but the effect is temporary and diminishes with time.

There has been an increase in the complications associated with hepatitis C. Scleritis is one of the complications of the condition that is not routinely suspected, and thus underdiagnosed or missed, leading to delay in initiation of treatment. This case report will bring that to the attention of ophthalmologists so necessary systemic therapy can be instituted in a timely fashion.

We evaluated the results of simultaneous bilateral cataract extraction with intraocular lens (IOL) inplantation 32 pediatric cataract patients. Simultaneous cataract extraction and posterior capsulotomy with anterior vitrectomy and IOL implantation is an effective and safe procedure in bilateral pediatric cataracts treatment.

We evaluated the efficacy of fixed combination of 0.005% latanoprost and 0.5% timolol maleate administered once daily in the evening for treating glaucoma patients. This combination proved an effective alternative to achieve an additional intraocular pressure IOP lowering effect in patients treated with either drug alone and as an alterative in patients treated with unfixed combination of latanoprost and timolol and optimal IOP control.
