We estimated serum insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) level to correlate for development of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in serum from 15 premature infants. 73% of the infant developed Stage 1 ROP and the rest develop Stage 2. Zone III involvement never progress beyond Stage 1, and Zone II beyond Stage 2. Severity of ROP could not be related to the level of IGF-1. All cases develop ROP of Stage 1 and 2 irrespective of serum IGF-1.
We compared the efficacy and safety of a new fixed combination of timolol 0.5%/odorzolamide 20%/brimonidine 0.2% in ophthalmic solution versus a fixed combination of timolol 0.5%/dorzolamide 2% in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The fixed triple combination was significantly more efficient in mean intraocular pressure reduction from baseline throughout the six-month follow-up.
An 82-year-old woman underwent complicated cataract surgery with subsequent endophthalmitis. She presented with a unique purulent collection with ciliary body involvement and Klebsiella pneumoniae was grown on culture. Klebsiella is a rare cause of endophthalmitis and ciliary body involvement has not previously been reported.
We are report 3 cases of hemorrhagic central retina vein occlusion following continuous use of fenethylline hydrochloride. The hemorrhage, the edema and the engorged veins showed marked improvement after discontinuing the drug and laser supplement in one case.

We report a the new surgical technique of upside-down (UPSD) phacoemulsification (phaco) with posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC IOL), combined with Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) to be used in an attempt to reduce post-surgical complications and increased visual recovery of patients. We therefore recommend this triple procedure technique for corneal surgeons who regularly perform DSAEK surgery.
We evaluated the ability of functional and structural technologies to detect early damage in ocular-hypertensive (OHT) eyes with normal standard automated perimetry (SAP) in 48 normal and 130 ocular-hypertensive subjects. We found that optical imaging devices may detect early damage in the RNFL and the optic nerve head in ocular-hypertensive eyes with no defect in SAP.
We prospectively investigated the changes of microstructure of the cornea in 54 high myopias with confocal microscopy via focusing in vivo. The microstructure of high myopic cornea is different from that of low and moderate myopia, however, whether corneal function would be involved is not clear.
We report an unusual case of unilateral uveitis with retinal capillaritis showing spontaneous recovery in a 23-year-old female who underwent complete ophthalmological examination. Retinal capillary dilation and leakage was observed of the left eye without systemic manifestations and spontaneously resolved without treatment in 2 months. Unilateral uveitis with retinal capillaritis is an unusual disease in young age and fluorescein angiography is useful for the correct diagnosis and follow-up.
