The lyrics of the 25 most popular songs in America for each of 4 decades (the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s) were content analyzed for value themes. Using ethnographic content analysis, 9 value themes or messages were extracted from the 100 songs. The most frequently occurring theme related to romantic love. Implications for counseling are discussed.

The way people know the world has been left relatively unchallenged in the consideration of educational revision. This article explains the idea of contact as an epistemic style that is foundational to enlivening educational experience. The concepts of accommodation, objectivity, and control are explored in relation to contact.

Similar levels of self-esteem were found in young adults who were childhood bullies, bully victims, and normals. However, as adults, bullies and their victims report significantly more loneliness than normals. That loneliness occurs more often in adults involved in childhood bullying has important implications for intervention and future research.

College students completed a questionnaire that assessed their attitudes toward the level of male responsibility in abortion decisions. Overall, both men and women thought that men should have some degree of involvement in the abortion decision. However, as expected by the first hypothesis, men indicated a desire for more responsibility in the abortion decision than women thought the men should have. A second hypothesis predicted women would feel more strongly than men that abortion was strictly a woman's issue. Contrary to the hypothesis, women tended to disagree that abortion was strictly a women's issue. Implications of the findings are discussed.

This article addresses the concept of tolerance, which includes embracing, accepting, and respecting diversity, and not merely enduring and condoning differences because of moral obligation or forced legislation. Activities are provided that may be used by counselors and teachers to promote tolerance of various and diverse groups in schools and society.
