Rational Emotive Education for Improving Self-Concept in Second-Grade Students 理性情绪教育对二年级学生自我概念提高的作用

This study examined the effectiveness of Vernon's (1989) Thinking, Feeling, Behaving curriculum with 41 second-grade general education students. The McDaniel-Piers Young Children's Self-Concept Scale (McDaniel & Piers, 1973) and the Behavioral Academic Self-Esteem (BASE; Coopersmith & Gilberts, 1982) inventory were administered in a pretest-posttest format. Results demonstrated that the curriculum was partially effective in improving the self-concepts of 2nd-grade students.

Physical activity influences physical and psychosocial health and is important at all stages in the life cycle. Culture influences expectations about classroom goals. The cultural distinction between individualism and collectivism is one factor that affects students' adjustment from home to school. Teachers and counselors may want to capitalize on students' cultural tendencies, but also plan for ways to expand students' repertoires of expectations and behaviors.

Because individuals experiencing transitions seem to be particularly susceptible to cult membership, adaptation to transition provides a framework for understanding susceptibility to cult membership. Developing insight and resources to cope with transition must be an integral part of strategies to prevent cult membership. Interventions focusing on treatment of former cult members are also discussed.
