A new lithium salt was synthesized and characterized. The stoichiometry of the salt was LiNap . 1H 2 O. The salt was thermally stable until 260 °C and 275 °C in air and nitrogen atmospheres, respectively, and don’t melt until the decomposition. The salt was highly crystalline and the crystal has a prismatic form. A spectroscopic study of the compound was done covering the UV, Vis, NIR and MIR regions. The fluorescence studies shown that the salt emits in 356 nm when excited on 236 or 264 nm. This emission was assigned to the first singlet excited state to the singlet ground level state of the compound.

Chitosan/carbon nanotubes associations have applications in tissue regeneration. This study reports on the rheological characterization of gels prepared by the mixture of chitosan and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCN). Rheological characterization was used to understand the internal structure of gels. Frequency tests of chitosan/SWCN showed that gels have elastic behavior, and also an increment in SWCN concentration increases G´ modulus. Gels had an increase in viscosity values of more than 10 times as a function of SWCN concentration. The addition of carbon nanotubes modified the behavior of gels as observed by temperature results. For all gels prepared with SWCN, G´ is higher than G´´ in the temperature range studied. SWCN changes the tridimensional network of chitosan and a new chain arrangement is obtained.

Solid-state Ln( ind ) 3 compounds, in which H ind is indomethacin, an anti-inflammatory drug, and Ln stands for trivalent La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm and Eu, were synthesized and characterized using thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermal analysis (DTA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), elemental analysis and complexometric titration with EDTA. The thermal analysis results provided information concerning the thermal stability, dehydration and thermal behavior of the compounds. The theoretical and experimental spectroscopic data suggest that indomethacin coordinates through the carboxylate group to the metals as a chelating ligand.

O presente estudo utilizou as tecnicas termoanaliticas (TG, DTG e DSC) para avaliar o comportamento termico de medicamentos a base de acido acetil salicilico comercializados como referencia, generico e similar. As amostras foram tambem caracterizadas por IV e DRX. As curvas TG/DTG mostraram comportamentos semelhantes, sendo verificado, algumas variacoes, devido a presenca dos excipientes nas formulacoes farmaceuticas. As curvas DSC apresentaram um pico endotermico caracteristico da fusao do acido acetil salicilico em todas as amostras. Os difratogramas de raios X mostraram similaridades, caracterizando as amostras como cristalinas.

A industria couro-calcadista utiliza uma variada lista de pigmentos ou combinacao deles para promover a coloracao aos seus produtos finais, a utilizacao de dois ou mais pigmentos podem gerar problemas como a homogeneidade da mistura, acarretando diferencas na cor final. Neste sentido, com o intuito de solucionar esse impasse, este trabalho teve como principal objetivo obter compositos pigmento/caulinita (pigmento amarelo e vermelho) e a sua utilizacao como cargas pigmentadas na industria calcadista. Assim, compositos desses pigmentos foram preparados com uma argila natural caulinita previamente intercalada com dimetilsulfoxido(DMSO), utilizou-se o metodo do deslocamento na tentativa de substituir as moleculas de DMSO pelos pigmentos. Os compositos coloridos resultantes foram empregados na confeccao de placa de borracha. As tecnicas de caracterizacoes comprovaram que a integridade quimica e fisica dos pigmentos nos compositos foram preservadas. O produto final obtido com os compositos apresentou coloracao adequada e homogeneidade superior quando comparados aos pigmentos.

Characterization, thermal stability and thermal decomposition of heavy trivalent lanthanide mandelates Ln(C 6 H 5 CH(OH)CO 2 ) 3 ·2H 2 O (Ln = Tb to Lu and Y) were investigated employing simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), experimental and theoretical infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, complexometry and TG-DSC coupled to FTIR. The dehydration of the compounds occurs in a single step and the thermal decomposition of the anhydrous ones occurs in two, three, four or five consecutive steps, with formation of the respective oxides Tb 4 O 7 and Ln 2 O 3 (Ln = Dy to Lu and Y) as final residues. The results also provided information concerning the composition, thermal behavior and gaseous products evolved during the thermal decomposition of these compounds. The theoretical and experimental spectroscopic data suggest the possible modes of coordination of the ligand with the heavy lanthanides. Theoretical 3D structure of Y(L)3•2H2O: (a), (c) and (d) isomers (less stable); (b) yttrium(III) mandelate coordinated by hydroxyl and carboxylate groups (the most stable compound).

O amido e considerado um dos biopolimeros mais importante como reserva em fontes botânicas. Como materia-prima, pode ser utilizado em diversos setores como: industrias quimica, de papel, farmaceuticas, alimentos entre outros. O uso de amidos alternativos e preconizado para tais usos e o amido de abacate, por se tratar de um subproduto, se insere como inovacao. No presente trabalho, a hidrolise parcial do amido de abacate foi avaliada em diferentes tempos de tratamento utilizado termogravimetria, analise termica diferencial (TG-DTA) e calorimetria exploratoria diferencial (DSC) bem como microscopia optica. Os resultados obtidos mostram que com o ataque enzimatico, ha alteracao estrutural e morfologica dos grânulos. Microscopia dos grânulos de amido de abacate com tratamento enzimatico apos 12 horas (a), 24 horas (b) e 36 horas (c) com ampliacao de 1000X.
