Background: Burnout syndrome is a condition in which health workers pour out very frequently, especially due to the 2020 pandemic. Aims: To deal with a possible risk of burnout due to the psychological and social pressure of the pandemic, it is good to have personal resources that work as a protective factor, such as resilience. The objective of this study is to investigate the differences between a sample of new hospital hires in 2019 and a sample of new hospital hires in 2020, in Lodi, Italy. Methods: To fulfill these purposes, a burnout test and a resilience test were used, and a dummy variable representing the condition of COVID-19 was created. Results: The results indicate that COVID-19 did not significantly affect burnout in the two samples. Limitations: Since the tests were carried out on hiring, the operators may not have been conditioned by the work weight, although Lodi was the epicenter of the pandemic in Italy. Conclusions: These data suggest that newly hired health workers would measure their work stress on personal resilience rather than the danger of COVID-19, despite government restrictions such as lockdowns, the mandatory use of safety devices, media reports on deaths and the risk of contagion.

We have been dealing with stress around the world due to the coronavirus outbreak. Too many changes affecting our daily routines, taking into account that routines make us all feel safe, kids had to adjust to homeschooling, no playmates around, parents confused doing home office and homeschooling...many overwhelmed. All these changes in our normality have had an impact on us. And of course, on the children. It is quite common to see people behave angrily with this COVID outbreak. Anger is just one emotion. A frequent one. To feel anger is an emotion; to behave angrily is a choice. Let’s talk here about the way children show this emotion.

María de Lourdes Morales Flores
This article presents the results of a study made with children between seven and eight years of age, with the purpose of determining the influence of cooperative on their prosocial judgment. It has a quasi-experimental design with control and experimental groups, with pre-test and post-test measurements through a pictorical scale to evaluate prosocial reasoning in the participating children, before and after the implementation of an intervention program based on cooperative games. The program had a significant impact on children's prosocial judgment, there was an increase in the frequency of children with needs-oriented and stereotyped reasoning, and a decrease in hedonistic judgment. Psychoeducational programs of this type could be used to positively influence the reasoning and prosocial behavior of children at these ages.

Application of a Time-Delay Model of the Plykin - Newhouse Attractor to Study the Dynamics of Neuro - Degeneration by Electroencephalography of the Brain

Neurodegeneration is the progressive loss of structure or function of neurons, which may ultimately involve cell death. Many neurodegenerative diseases-such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, and prion diseases-occur as a result of neurodegenerative processes. Neurodegeneration can be found in the brain at many different levels of neuronal circuitry, ranging from molecular to systemic. Because there is no known way to reverse the progressive degeneration of neurons, these diseases are considered to be incurable. Biomedical research has revealed many similarities between these diseases at the sub-cellular level, including atypical protein assemblies (like proteopathy) and induced cell death. These similarities suggest that advances against one neurodegenerative disease might ameliorate other diseases as well. In this report, an autonomous physical system is used, which is represented by a Smale Williams hyperbolic type attractor. Dynamics and evolution of neurodegeneration The Plykin-Newkhoz attractor model with the Piragas method is applied

In the wake of the racial injustice events and protests during summer 2020, the faculty and staff at the University of Houston-College of Pharmacy (UH-COP) felt a sense of helplessness and alarm. UH is generally proactive circulating and creating statements to show support for anti-racist education, changes in social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion. However, this time it was not enough. We wanted to have the courage to take a collective stand against racial prejudice, have the bravery not to remain silent. Confronted with the question on why we have not solved this long history of racial tear in our country, we recognized we do not understand how we got to this situation in the first place. Our country’s present situation suffers from a lack of attention to the root causes. Thus, a better understanding of those root causes would help us discover how to move past where we are right now, provide us with the tools to advance and to have open conversations about race and social injustices. With that effort in mind, the Office for Faculty Development at UH-COP designed and implemented a challenging program for faculty and staff over a 9-week period during the summer of 2020. The program combined open free sources as well as loaned films, together with facilitated sessions by Pharmacy experts. Because it was important to participate in this significant moment, the program started less than three weeks after the death of George Floyd, while the protests and civil unrest, as well as the pandemic, were still present in the USA and around the world. Herein, we outline the approach taken to changing minds and behaviors in our academic unit, building understanding to racial disparities, diversity, equity and inclusion. As part of the program, we facilitated particularly emotional exchanges among faculty and staff, collecting both personal and professional experiences that shaped us around biases and racism. Additionally, feedback from participants regarding the effectiveness of the program was gathered. After this educational experience, it is our commitment to continue bringing awareness to this topic through inclusion of additional relevant topics and work with our students as elements of change.

This study investigated the association between a variety of taste preferences and the Dark Triad personality traits. We noted over twenty studies that linked personality to taste/beverage preference and experience. In this study just under 200 participants completed a personality and food preference questionnaire. Results demonstrated that dark side traits accounted for around ten percent of the variance in tastes, including bitter and sweet as well as alcohol and coffee strength preferences. For a number of the taste preference measures sensation seeking and harm aversive personality traits were particularly influential in determining taste preferences. Limitations and directions for future research are discussed.

Introduction: Medical students are important and vulnerable populations. High levels of stress, financial dependency, easy access to substances, and lack of adequate support increase their mental health problems and substance use. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between their mental health status and attitude toward substances. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 157 medical students were enrolled using the convenient sampling method, to answer the Drug Attitude Scale test and General Health Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the SPSS. Results: Mental health is significantly correlated with the attitude toward substance use. The participants in this study had mental health problems in general. Half of them also had a positive attitude and tendency to use substances. Conclusion: Mental health problems and tendency to use the substances were prevalent among medical students. More investigations and designation of therapeutic and preventive programs are necessary especially for vulnerable populations.

The purpose of this meta-analysis was to assess the association between Depression and suicidal ideation. We use data from six studies to do a meta-analysis. We applied the random-effects analytic model and calculated a pooled odds ratio. The combined effect size showed that odds of suicidal ideation among people with Depression is 4.88 times higher than those peoples without Depression (ORMH 4.88 95%CI 2.04, 11.72) Test for overall effect: Z = 3.55 (P = 0.0004) Heterogeneity: Tau² = 1.11; Chi² = 100.97, df = 5 (P < 0.00001); I² = 95%. The magnitude of suicidal ideation among people with Depression is 46.39% (528) and peoples without Depression is 17.79 % (315) from the total, 39.13 % (1138) is depressed and 60.86% (1779) not depressed. The overall proportion of Suicidal Ideation among the included studies is 28.98 % (843). The total number of study subjects included in our systematic review and meta-analysis is 2908.

Objective: There are few new approaches to the pharmacotherapeutic treatment of methamphetamine dependence in the literature. The publications contain abundant data on various methods of pharmacotherapeutic treatment of methamphetamine dependence. However, no pharmacotherapeutic therapy for methamphetamine dependence is sufficient. Materials and Methods: This was a double-blind study in patients diagnosed with methamphetamine dependence according to DSM-5. A total of 100 patients who met the DSM-5 criteria for methamphetamine dependence were examined. All male patients from 18 to 60 years old. The patients were divided into two groups of 50 people: the first group received clomipramine (anafranil) 300 mg / day (100 mg 3 times a day) and carbamazepine 600 mg / day (200 mg 3 times a day) orally. The second group received an indifferent drug (placebo) Results: as shown by follow-up data (12 months), among 50 patients who received anaphrani and carbamazepine only, 10 had short-term breakdowns associated with exposure to microsocial causes. The rest of the patients were in remission. Among patients receiving placebo, only 5 patients experienced remission, all the rest had cases of relapse. Responder analysis was performed using chi-square (x2) and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Conclusion. Clinical statistics indicate the high efficiency of the use of anaphrani and carbamazepine in the treatment of methamphetamine dependence. The mechanisms of action of the drug are being discussed.
